I received an Advanced readers copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I really got into the story at the beginning but it didn’t grip me to wanting to continue reading straight to the end. I enjoyed reading it whilst I was reading but didn’t feel that urgency to find out what happens.
With that said the storyline itself was good, the characters were relatable, there was plenty of suspense in there and I didn’t see that coming moments plus there is plenty of spicy scenes.
(Maybe it was just where my own personal headspace was at time but it is definitely worth a read)

Bad proofreading
Not sure if this book was translated from another language or if the writer is not a native english speaker, but this book was tough to read a lot of the time. Decent storyline, but terrible editing/proofreading.

This was a surprisingly good story. An unscheduled night out for, Marlowe Thorn with her friend, Lisa lands her going into a wealthy nightclub. It is one she would never be able to afford even at the top end of her well-paying job. It's there she literally runs into a man in the very dimly lit hallway to the restroom. There is a visceral attraction that she finds intriguing. She had just broken off a relationship with her ex after several years because the spark only lasted eight months.
But, Marlowe had tried to make it work for a few years. Without Alex reciprocating she was tired and done. So, the instant attention was enticing. The first kiss was explosive and his voice was intoxicating. Yet, she paused, Marlowe only had one shot of alcohol with Lisa, already buzzing, and adding the man’s kiss was making her dizzy. Marlowe did accomplish to tell him they couldn't do it in the hallway, so he took her into the lady's room.
These two people had gotten themselves in a sticky wicket. Because it's in this new lighting they figure out who they are, and how this could impact their lives, but go through with it anyway. You see he is Roman Blairwood her ex’s best friend and business partner. They realize, that their need for each other has gone nuclear. Once the passion died, he was gone. What's ironic is that Roman always acted like he hated her. But, that’s not how it felt when they were in the throws of passion.
But the best is yet to come when her boss assigns her to be the one to work on the project as the lead architect of Thompson Architecture. The one who had been assigned needed to take an emergency medical leave. Roman was not happy seeing his one-and-done greeting him first thing Monday morning putting in the forefront his betrayal of his best friend.
You will not want to miss this book because it is not as simple as this one-night stand, oh no! That is way too easy. No, there is a double betrayal, intrigue, mystery, and more.

A lovely, well written story, with a slow-build steamy romance, drama, humour, a bro-code, misunderstandings, twists and a great HEA. The second in the Off-Limits Baby Daddies series but can be read as a standalone.
Marlowe is taken out to a club by her best friend after breaking up with Alex and runs into a hard chest with oddly familiar eyes. They can't keep their hands off each other but she realises too late who he is and how she recognises him.
Roman is a grumpy workaholic with trust and commitment issues; women don't seem to be able to work with him for long. But when he finds the lead architect for his latest project is his business partner's ex, and his one night stand (who he hasn't been able to stop thinking about), he tries to push her away. But she's determined to see the project to completion.
Can they work together, and can they keep their attraction for each other hidden from Alex, his business partner & her ex?

WOW this was a great book and it was a steamy page turner and the suspense was OH WOW. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. These characters were physical attraction and the chemistry was like fireworks and sizzling. They couldn’t fight the temptation as tension was off the charts as they gave into passion from a one night stand. I highly recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. This story is not interesting enough for the mental gymnastics of timeline by hours days or weeks and POV changing every chapter. I get to chapter that says Present Day, and how should I know what that even means?
Also Ronan is a dick. Leaders who act like that where everyone cowers in fear don't usually drive innovation like this MMC supposedly does. He's just a bully. How's that attractive to Marlowe after she breaks up with Alex because he, too, is a selfish dick?
Annoyed because I was looking for quick happy reading.

Well I didn't see that coming. No spoilers here though.
Forbidden love due to friendship. The characters Marlowe and Roman were brought to life well, we saw their love for architecture and the world of work and the blossoming of their love. The author kept the plot moving and threw a few twists in the story to keep you guessing.

He didn't realize who she was until after the fact, that she was his best friend's ex. This hot and steamy story is filled with intriguing twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages of Marlowe and Roman. Will Marlowe and Roman be able to rise above how they came about and get their chance for a happily ever after.

This is a very good romance with defined MCs who have great chemistry, and unfortunately, a bro code that doesn't make much sense in this instance. The storyline has chemistry, steam, drama, interference from an ex, secrets, and betrayal. I liked this book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

The book was just okay. However Roman was the most grumpiest character I've read about in any book and not in a good way. So what he slept with Marlowe before she began working on the project? Just get over it and move on, it's business. And Alex was such a narcissist, jealous jerk who has been holding his disdain for his supposed best friend even before they met Marlowe.

Never would have believed the storyline would have ended this way. So many turns of events but at the end love does conquer all. And there are consequences for bad behavior and striving to destroy the lives of others in the end. Always remember the truth will always set you free and will win in the end.

Kind of giving me Chris Hemsworth vibes.😍 Love the book cover!! Roman is a successful real estate mogel, driven, focused, and smart. Except for when he made a mistake at a club one night when he ran into Marlowe Thorn. She is his best friend Alex's, ex-girlfriend. He knew they had broken up, but he didn't know why. And Marlowe is sexy. He tried to ignore his attraction but lost all reason. He wants her. Looks like the feeling is mutual. One night is shared.🥵🥵
Marlowe Thorn is career driven. She is not rich like Alex or Roman. She's an architect and is good at her job. When she ends up on a special job for Roman, she's embarrassed but excited to see him again. Roman ignores her. In fact he's downright rude and pushy to not have her on this job. Be aware that Roman is a total alpha male! It's either his way or NO way. She fights to stay on the project. And wins for the time being.
These two are pulled closer and closer. How can wanting her be bad? It feels right to Roman. And Marlowe with her clumsy moments, wants Roman. She can't ignore her desire for him. Even though Roman uses his logic over emotions approach, he still can't help but he annoyed with her while trying his best to ignore his feelings. He's feeling deep regret by breaking the bro code. He wants Marlowe all the time. Alex, for being a grown man is a brat and immature. Nothing like Roman. Someone is sabotaging the work project. Who would do this? And why? Is it someone close on the team? Marlowe almost got kidnapped over it. She now goes to live with Roman so he can keep her safe. Discreetly. Which only adds more tension between them.🫣🔥🫣

There was enough character buildup, love tension to keep the pages turning. You will not be able to stop reading this till it's finished. What will happen once Alex finds out their secret? Will Roman be Alex's friend and lose Marlowe? Or choose Marlowe and lose Alex? Who will lose out in his decision? Will a HEA happen here? I did guess who the bad guys were. No spoilers. I recommend. Once I picked this up, I found it very hard to put down! The story pulled me in from the get go and I had to read 1 more chapter, then 1 more chapter ! The 2 main characters, Roman and Marlowe deal with an attraction that has them in a bit of a tight spot seeing as Marlowe's ex is also Roman's business partner and best friend. Roman tries his best to stay away from Marlowe because of the 'bro code' but even though he tries, he holds out for a little while but then they end up together again. He feels guilty keeping the relationship from Alex who he considers as a brother. Dealing with the stress of lying together with issues with their new real estate developement that Marlowe is currently working on as lead Architect and something has to give.
Will Roman lose his friend when Alex finds out about his relationship with Marlowe. Can Marlowe trust Roman to stand by her and put her before the 'code'
A must read, a definite page turner.

Marlowe and Roman have an amazing night together and then are both shocked when they learn that they'll be working together. As if that's not enough they find out he is best friends with her ex which makes things even more complicated. Sparks fly between them even though they try to fight their attraction. Marlowe's work is being messed with making her look incompetent and she doesn't know who is doing it. Its not long before they give into each other but Roman is eaten up with guilt because of his friendship with her ex. Will they finally get to be with each other? Who is messing with Marlowe?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Great writing as always from this excellent author . Marlowe goes out with her friend to help get over Alex her ex , she bumps into a familiar looking man but she can’t place him , they have a mad passionate night but then she realises too late just who her hookup was… Roman has no time for women , he’s a grade A grump . When he finds out that his latest project’s architect is his business partner’s ex , he finds out she’s his one night stand too… nightmare! She’s determined to get job done . But can they see it through without their sordid attraction reveals all to Alex . Oh and then there’s one more little thing… great!.
