The conclusion to The Lenticular series by KM Stevenson showcases the journey of the 2 main protagonists. Rhees Lowran, formerly a disgraced Fleet pilot and presumed dead by her murderous boss at HDC, gathers allies to bring down the leaders of the Hegemony. She knows innocent lives will be lost in the ensuing showdown, but does her best to minimise human casualties.

Meanwhile on Homeworld, Udun the Kresz marshals the resistance to retake his world. And despite being quite alien in appearance, his sentiments are eerily similar to those of Rhees. The Kresz have been slaves to tradition and an insular mindset, and change comes at a high cost.

At its heart, this trilogy explores the importance of diversity, independent thinking, and the role of individuality in two very different societies that nonetheless both insist on conformity and obedience in the name of order. Thought provoking indeed!
