Why is it that romance always seems to find you when you’re avoiding it like a salty spinach cupcake...

Kaytlyn is a curvy, sassy waitress with more hang-ups than the average twenty-year-old, so romance is the last thing on her agenda. That is until the pesky regular customer—who she can't seem to convince she's uninterested—introduces her to his handsome, blue-eyed, best friend.

Blayke is a successful restaurateur, but building a prosperous business in Nashville leaves little time for much else, especially relationships. He never imagined he’d have an instant connection to his best friend’s crush. But his attraction will have to be overlooked because bro-code labels her off-limits.

What do you get when you mix a gorgeous, cowboy hat-wearing bachelor, with a cupcake-loving waitress whose life was such a mess she ran away from it?

Maybe a recipe for romance...

Romance lovers, prepare to be blown away! I have just finished “The Cupcake Cowboy” novel, and I cannot stop smiling.

Let me tell you, Kaytlyn, the protagonist, is my total girl crush. She is fierce, resilient, and determined to keep moving forward, and she is on such a journey of growth. And Blayke? Oh, be still, my heart! This southern gentleman is the very epitome of perfection: patient, loving, and certainly swoon-worthy.The chemistry between them is on fire, and their banter had me in giggles!

But wait, there's more: the writing is beautiful, the relationship is just instant love and everything, 💛 and there's just the right amount of spicy goodness to keep things interesting.

Also, can we speak about the body positivity in this book? It is really refreshing, and I love how it doesn’t put down other body types, just because the FMC is curvy.

Just be aware that there are some trigger warnings to be cautious about, so just check them out before delving in.

Overall, “The Cupcake Cowboy” is a must-read! Grab a copy and melt into this heartwarming romance, and prepare to be swept away by Kaytlyn and Blayke

"The Cupcake Cowboy" by Rose Rayne Rivers is a delightful, light-hearted romance that had me hooked from the first page. Kaytlyn, the sassy waitress with a troubled past, and Blayke, the handsome cowboy with a heart of gold, make for an irresistible pair. Despite some heavy topics touched upon, the story maintains its breezy tone, keeping the reader engaged without weighing them down.

What struck me most about this book was the chemistry between Kaytlyn and Blayke. Their banter had me chuckling throughout, and their instant connection felt genuine and palpable. It's refreshing to see a strong, curvy woman as the protagonist, and I appreciated the emphasis on found family and overcoming past traumas.

While the plot may have had some moments of clunkiness, overall, "The Cupcake Cowboy" is a fun and entertaining read. It's filled with sweet romance, spicy moments, and enough twists to keep you turning the pages. If you're in the mood for a feel-good love story with a side of sass, then this book is definitely worth a read. Just be aware of the trigger warnings for sensitive topics.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this story! It's such a light easy to read book that had me sitting there with a dumb smile on my face.
While the book remained a light-hearted love story without angst, it still managed to hit a few bigger topics straight on the head without slowing down or missing a beat.
I was actually stunned when the book finished cause I had no idea I had read so much so fast! I just got swept away in the adorable Cupcake and her Cowboy love story *heart eyes*

This is my free and honest review of the ARC I was given. Please be sure to read trigger warnings as there is some mention of sensitive matters.

Do you like a good Instant Love romance? Best friends crush? Age Gap Romance? This one is perfect for you.

The Cupcake Cowboy follows Kaytlyn who has just moved to Nashville after some very thought past trauma and she meets Blayke at the diner she is working at through his best friend. The chemistry is instant and undeniable between the two. Through some very difficult situations the couple build their relationship stronger and stronger. The banter between these two had me constantly giggling. And the spice was definitely spicing. I absolutely loved the ending!

I also want to appreciate that the FMC is written as a strong curvy woman and as one myself, I cannot tell you how much I can appreciate that. I also loved the strong found family and connection.

This was my first read of Rose Rayne Rivers but I can promise it will not be my last.

The Cupcake Cowboy is the story of a Los Angeles transplant working at a diner in Nashville, and the relationship she starts to build with a customer she literally runs into one night.

Kaytlyn is a waitress at the Cowboy Country Diner with sass and a flirtatious attitude. She’s great at dealing with the late night drunk crowd, which gets the attention of a repeat customer... although she’d rather be catching the eye of the cowboy who is sitting with him.

Blayke is struck dumb when he meets the girl he thinks his brother has been dating. His instant attraction to her isn’t helped by how intrigued he is by her sassy mouth and the magnetic pull they seem to have towards each other.

Kaytlyn and Blayke develop an instant connection during a few chance run-ins around town, which culminates in a tipsy call from Kaytlyn to Blayke asking him to join her out for the night. The chemistry between Kaytlyn and Blayke is electric — every time these two meet up the air practically crackles. Right away, they spend almost an entire day together, getting to know each other and learning about Kaytlyn’s rough past in Los Angeles. The bond over their mutual love of food, the restaurant industry and professional basketball. Their insta-love is tested by some baggage from Kaytlyn’s past relationships, as well as their age difference, of which Blayke was previously unaware.

I enjoyed this book! It was a quick read and had some real nice yearnin’ and burnin’ and flirtin’, culminating in some delicious spice. I like a MMC who knows what he wants, which for the majority of the story was our leading guy. The plot didn’t flow all the time, leading to some moments of clunkiness, but overall I think the author told an enjoyable, sexy story. This book was entertaining and fun to read; I recommend it!

Tropes in this story:
✨ Insta-love
✨ He falls first
✨ Strong FMC
✨ Age gap
✨ Found family
✨ Troubled past / overcoming past trauma

Though this book doesn’t necessitate heavy trigger warnings, there is mention of SA. I think it was important in the development of our FMC’s character, and was only ‘upsetting’ to me because I felt for our girl Kaytlyn.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author, but my review is all my own.

Spice: 🌶️

Before I jump into this review I do want to say check the trigger warnings because there are some triggering events mentioned in this book

If you’re looking for a insta-love/lust, with lots of tension but slow burn spice pay off this is certainly the book for you. On top of all that it has drama, horribly pushy bosses, and some tragic backstories. And if any of that sounds like your cup of tea than this is absolutely a book your should pick up.

In cupcake cowboy we meet Katylyn and Blayke, both foodies who have an instant attraction to each other, and while Blayke is eager to get to know and love Katy… Katy is a bit more hesitant due to a past of poor male relationships. Undeterred Blayke decided to let things move at Katy’s pace and through a series of trial, errors and romance they may just get their happily ever after.

Personally, this book was not for me. I quit at about 80% through. I really tried to push through but the characters for me were very hard to relate to. I will say I pushed almost to the end because I did like Blaykes character after he had a little growth because I didn’t like either of the main characters at first. But after a while Blaykes character and actions grew on me and I wanted to see him get through his happy ending. Unfortunately, Katylyn I could not relate to like I was hoping, she had crazy shifts in personality it seemed on more than one occasion that I was reading two different characters. I wanted to give her a bit of a break and push through hoping she would grow on me because she was young and because I emphasized with her tragic backstory even with all of that it was hard to really relate and want to keep reading her story. This is all personal feelings on these characters though as the author clearly put hard work into the story, and plot of this story.

Overall, if you’re looking for an instalove/lust story with slow burn pay off, an interesting plot and just the right amount of drama this is definitely one you should give a try.

HAPPY READING 📖

Title: The Cupcake Cowboy By Rose Rayne Rivers

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I received this book in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

What happens when a dashing cowboy hat-wearing bachelor crosses paths with a cupcake-obsessed waitress who's one mess away from running for the hills?

Kaytlyn, a curvy and sassy waitress with her fair share of insecurities, has no interest in romance at twenty years old. However, her resolve is tested when a persistent regular customer introduces her to his attractive, blue-eyed best friend.

Blayke, a successful restaurateur in Nashville, is focused on building his business, leaving little room for relationships. Despite his instant connection with his best friend's crush, he knows that bro-code dictates she's off-limits.

As sparks fly between Kaytlyn and Blayke, they must navigate their growing attraction while respecting the boundaries set by friendship and loyalty.

The Cupcake Cowboy explores themes of love, family, and the power of belonging.
Peek into the world of a swoon-worthy cowboy love story, where the book cheers for uncovering love and belonging in the most surprising corners.

From the bonds of friendship to the ties that bind us to our roots, the story reminds us that family is not always defined by blood, but by the connections we forge with those who matter most.

The Cupcake Cowboy is a joy to read from start to finish. Whether you're a fan of cowboy romance or simply looking for a heartwarming story to curl up with, this book is sure to leave you smiling and satisfied.

Please make sure to read the Trigger warnings before reading this.

This was a really sweet, entertaining read! I definitely found myself get a little emotional throughout this book, with learning more about Kaytlyn's past and with how certain things happened in the diner. I don't want to give too much away, but the big showdown at the diner had my jaw on the floor and I was yelling for a fight. I was really worried that Kaytlyn wasn't going to stand up for herself, yet she broke out the big guns. Besides the romance in this book, that's what I really enjoyed most was the woman speaking up about their struggles and standing up for themselves.

The romance was instant and sweet and intense. I absolutely loved the banter back in forth between Kaytlyn and Blayke, with their jokes about the unnecessary "y" in their names, to calling each other the wrong names, and their cute nicknames of "Cowboy" and "Cupcake". Kaytlyn and Blayke both had moments of overreacting, but I appreciated that they both took the time to calm down and talk it out with each other. It was also great that they both had awesome friends that have become family, who are in their corner and can give them both advice. Although Kaytlyn only had Ally at the beginning, I loved her finding a huge family that welcomed her with open arms in the end.

There were some funny moments, especially when Kaytlyn met Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, and didn't know who the Rascal Flatts were. I laughed throughout that dinner scene. And that ending! Oh my goodness, something was in the water! lol! It ended perfectly.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Cupcake Cowboy by Rose Rayne Rivers is your feel good, light-hearted small town romance. It hits you in the feels throughout the whole story and had me hooked from the very first page. This romance takes you on the journey between Blayke and Kaytlyn.

Kaytlyn is a sassy waitress who has a very troubled past who keeps her circle small because she doesn’t trust easily. Blayke is a handsome cowboy with a heart of gold who loves his family (both blood and found) and will do anything for them.

The chemistry between Blayke and Kaytlyn was on fire. From their very first interaction until the very last page. There was no denying that there was a connection there if they were both open to accept it. Their banter was on point and had me laughing throughout the whole book, bringing some lightness to the story especially around some of the tougher topics that were discussed from Kaytlyn’s past. I loved that Kaytlyn was a curvy girl who finds a guy who loves her curves and softness. I loved how Blayke was there for Kaytlyn to help her overcome her past traumas and realize she’s stronger than she thinks. His support, plus the support of his family which is her found family, really pulls at your heartstrings as you are reading.

While this book touches on some tough and heavy topics, overall the book is a light, fun and entertaining read. You have your sweet romance, your spicy moments because you gotta have those, with relatable characters. This book is for you if you like a feel good love story with plenty of banter, sass, with no third act break up.

I was kindly given an arc copy of this to read by @ and I have to say I’m kinda disappointed at myself it took me this long to get around to it.

This was a cute cowboy romance that touched on some tough subjects, which gave the story a lot of depth and kept me wanting to know more. I loved the banter and sexual chemistry between Kaytlyn and Blayke and were rooting for them from the start.

I liked how it was dual pov so we got to see both Kaytlyns and Blayke’s perspectives.

After reading this book tho, I realized insta lust isn’t one of my favorite tropes. Their relationship felt somewhat rushed and there wasn’t a proper build up to it in my opinion. Also, some of the language isn't what I am used to reading in a book. For example, the usage of the word “scurried” just rubbed me the wrong way.

Some of the main character’s actions confused me a lot. I loved the first few chapters, but as we got to the “conflict” scenes, Kaytlyns words and actions didn’t make much sense. However, we then learned why she acted this way, which in turn made everything clear and made me like and respect her more.

The ending was just 🥹🥰🩷

Overall it was a cowboy romance I enjoyed, and I would definitely recommend you pick it up x

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I was skeptical at first because of the name of the book. I also tend to be skeptical of books set in Nashville. Being from TN most books irk me with their plot points. However, this book did really well not just focusing on country music. The only things that bothered me were the mention of actual famous people and the over the top southern drawl. As a southerner, I hate my accent being pointed out so much.

The main characters in this book were such mature characters. They had great banter and they supported one another. Blayke was such a good character. He supported Kaytlyn even when she felt her most broken. He never held her past assaults against her and he defended her even when she didn’t want him to. He reflected on himself and took care of her when she needed it the most. There wasn’t a huge 3rd act break up and there wasn’t a mistake made by either character that left you wondering why they were even forgiven.

Kaytlyn was such a strong character. I think her character speaks to so many women out there experiencing/experienced abuse or assault. Blayke is the type of character that helps assault victims understand they are broken and are worthy of love.

The writing of the book flowed pretty well and kept me interested. It did get repetitive in some parts and there were a few grammatical errors.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the arc.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review.

Our FMC decided to escape her past by moving from LA to Nashville, and in doing so found a job and best friend at a diner just down from her new loft. She has decided to take a break from men for a while, but all that changes one night. One of her usuals comes in, and he just so happens to be the usual that continually flirts, and gives a bit of a harmless stalker vibe. She can handle him just fine, except this night he brings a friend in a dark cowboy hat - and the instant connection is real, and it's terrifying. Out MMC comes in to a diner after work with his best friend so he can meet the girl he's been obsessing over. Everything would be fine, except he can tell his friend isn't really getting anywhere with her - which is good, because he has never been so instantly attracted to someone.

Our FMC ends up going to dinner with her friend and manager, only to find out the restaurant is owned by the Cowboy. She finds a way to run into him again, and their relationship starts. He can sense her unease around the physical, so he waits, finally learning what happened to her to cause her to be so skittish, and she worries that he will turn away because of all her baggage. Will they be able to make it through, will more men disappoint her or cause harm?

This book took me a little bit to get into. I struggled to understand the characters and how they fit together. Once I understood them, there were some very sweet moments in their insta-love. I loved their connection in the extra y in their names and their nicknames for each other. Her lack of country music knowledge in Nashville and being around country music stars was super funny. He seemed to really want to care for her well and I was really proud of the way she shared her past with him. She has been through some serious stuff and I'm sure it took a lot for her to express that to him.

There were a few things that I just didn't care for in the story or didn't flow well for me. I couldn't get behind her hitting him on the arm pretty regularly when they were having banter or just hanging out together. I get it happening every once in a while as a joke but it happened way too much for me to feel ok with it. I definitely did not like that she knowingly let the bartender serve her in her love interests best friends bar knowing she was underage. I get that it sparked their getting together but it just felt very reckless to me.

Overall this was a sweet insta-love age gap love story.

Oh my goodness, I could not put this down! I literally started and finished it in the same day haha. While I want to tell you everything I loved about this book, I don’t want to give too much away so bear with me.

Kaytlyn is our FMC who just moved to Nashville to get away from trauma and drama. She ends up working at a diner and meeting her new best friend, Ally who quickly becomes one of the most important people in her life. I think some of us can relate to the notion that not all family is blood. 🥰 One night, she meets Blayke, our gorgeous Cowboy MMC, who’s there with some friends in which one of them has an interest in Kaytlyn but luckily, she’s a girl who knows what she wants…and what she doesn’t want haha. Kaytlyn and Blayke have this insane chemistry and just can’t fight it (I don’t think I could either). This was definitely a slow burn that led to 🔥When she finally confides in him about her past, he is so understanding and reacts the way she needs 😍 There are a few more bumps along their road but they are able to get through it and some amazing opportunities are presented by the end!

Go check out this book! 😊

3.5 ☆ very sweet, fun and an easy read. kaytlyn works at the cowboy country diner and whilst serving one night, she catches the attention from a hot cowboy, blayke (both with their unnecessary y’s) there’s an instant connection between them with a lot of sassy and flirty banter, they bond other their love for food, restaurants and basketball.

kaytlyn may appear confident and outgoing but she also has some scars caused by previous relationships, and one thing about blayke is he know what he wants and he wants her so will do whatever he can to prove this to her. he’s patient, supportive and such a southern gentlemen. it’s set in nashville so the vibes were great, I liked the side characters and now I’m hoping they’ll have their own books. however my only complaint was that it was very insta lovey for me but still an enjoyable read.

thank you NetGalley for the arc - releasing March 22nd and it’s on ku!

tropes:
-dual pov
-she’s off limits (his best friends crush)
-he falls first

The last thing Kaytlyn is looking for is romance, but when Blayke walks into her life all that changes. Kaytlyn is a twenty year old waitress who has had a rough life, especially when it comes to men. Blayke is the owner of a successful restaurant in Nashville and everything Kaytlyn didn’t know she wanted or needed. Will the couple give into the chemistry between them or will their personal baggage stand in the way?

I am always up for a good heartwarming romance and this fit the bill. The romance between Kaytlyn and Blayke is hot and steamy at times, but also full of feel good moments. This quick read romance that I kept wanting to turn the page on. I enjoyed the two main characters and most of their friends and liked the way the love story progressed. Overall I really enjoyed this book, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the way some real life famous people were brought into some of the scenes. It may have something to do with the fact that I can’t stand one of those aforementioned famous people. Looking past that, I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a good romance read.

Blayke and Kaytlyn initially bond over having extra y’s in their names and it quickly turns into them spending all of their spare time together.

When Kaytlyn faces an unfortunate event at work, Blayke has to talk himself out of reacting in a way that might get him thrown into jail.

Although they move quickly, Kaytlyn find her family through Blayke’s everyday people.

Blayke and Kaytlyn and their instant chemistry made this book a great page turner. Kaytlyn the twenty year old just trying to figure out what she wants from life and dealing with all the issues of her past. Blayke being the perfect and supportive man for her. The spice in this book was everything I could have asked for. The only thing I could have asked for was more. I feel that the ending seemed slightly rushed. Just finished The Cupcake Cowboy yesterday... happy international women's day! What a fabulous book to choose to finish on that day. Not only is this a STEEEAAAMMY story about the captivating budding romance between cupcake and cowboy ( Kaytlyn and Blayke, don't forget the useless "Y's"). It also includes important societal issues such as the struggles modern day women still experience- abuse, discrimination, and finding the balance between family and career.
This was an adorable, quick read.

3.5/5 ✰ - This is a love story between Kaytlyn and Blayke. Blayke meets Kaytlyn at the diner she waitresses at and instantly falls for her, which in my opinion is the biggest thing that threw me off. Like Blayke, I fell for Kaytlyn's sassy mouth as well-- I love my strong-willed FMCs! Though there wasn't a lot of angst and build-up, we were more attuned to societal issues which I wish more books addressed. Blayke was such a lovable character as he was protective yet patient. Blayke and Kaytlyn's love is the definition of right person, right time.

I absolutely loved this book. I honestly didnt think I would like it so much. But, once I started to read more about it and really got into the story It was a story for me. I love how the two leads are drawn to each other. That made the story so real for me. I have a hard time accepting compliments too, so I really connected with the female lead. I'm a foodie too so I really gained a lot of restaurant knowledge after reading this too. Almost made me want to take up baking. The author did a lot of research for this and you can really tell the more your read.

Review:

The cowboy cupcake is a light hearted book about Kaytlyn, a waitress in Nashville trying to find her way in the world. Enter Blayke, a cowboy hat-wearing restaurant owner and cue instant attraction. The book delves into their relationship and overcoming the obstacles in their path.

I really enjoyed the author’s writing style! As Rose’s first full length project, I think it was a fantastic start. This book got me out of a reading slump, it was a nice easy read with plenty of spice. There were definitely a few things in the plot that I didn’t love throughout it. I kept hoping that there would be more personal growth for Katelyn, I wanted to see her grow more on her own outside of her relationship. I was hoping there would be more professional development and she would develop more confidence in her talents. In that aspect the book was lacking for me. I also found that both main characters had some erratic behavior which I wasn’t a huge fan of. I was also hoping there were a bit more cupcakes throughout the book given the name!

I would definitely recommend picking this one up on March 22nd. I can’t wait to see what she does next!

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the ARC.

I absolutely adored this! It was my first cowboy/country romance and it did not disappoint. From the very start I was smiling, it captivated me from chapter one. I read the entire book in one day, so dang good! If you’re looking for a quick cute read that makes you smile, laugh & cry. This is it, 10/10 recommend

Blayke and Kaytlyn( with an unnecessary y) where such a cute couple!!! The sassiness from Kaytlyn and the overprotective love from Blayke was emotional and enjoyable to make this couple memorable!

I would give this a 4.5 star rating (5 on the spicy scale) and will be recommending it to friends!!!

Whilst I loved the idea and the storyline, the reality did not quite match. It didn't grip me and I felt a lacking cohesion unfortunately.
