Teralyn Mitchell is a new author to the contemporary romance scene who loves creating unique, multi-dimensional characters who face everyday issues that her readers can relate to. She writes the kind of books she likes to read whether they are about twenty-somethings living in the city or princesses and princes trying to find their way in the world.
She moved back to her hometown in the south a few years and is currently living in a full house, bursting with love, laughter, and chaos. When she’s not writing, you can find her reading, watching sports or reruns of her favorite sitcoms.
This was short and cute read. I love a good fake dating story, I can't help it. I love knowing exactly how it's going to turn out in the end. Also, watching the man fall first is always a PLUS in my book.
My favorite part was the fact that they stayed together through it all. Their commitment to each other was refreshing and it probably had something to do with the fact they had been best friends for years. They didn't let any "obstacle" keep them apart. No third act breakups over here.
There are two things that stopped this short of 4 star rating were the sex scenes. I could not connect and feel the attraction between the characters. I hated the use of the "c" word and then towards the end, it felt forced that the "d" word was being used. That could just be me but this is what stopped me from a connection to the characters during the spicy scenes. The second thing being, there are a LOT of characters to keep up with, I found myself being confused a lot of the time trying to figure out who was who. Honestly, this took away from some of the plot because I couldn't connect with who is who.
I will definitely be checking out Book 3 in the series because of the curiosity of the characters. The snippet in the end got me interested.
If you're looking for a light and easy read, "Tiny Truths" by Teralyn Mitchell might just be the book for you. This second installment in the Rosa Oaks series follows the story of Rhiannon Saucer and Zane Anthony, two best friends who find themselves in a quasi-fake relationship to fend off meddling families and advance their careers.
The plot is straightforward and the writing style is simple, making it a quick read. The characters, while likable, don’t have much depth and can feel a bit interchangeable with those from the first book in the series. Rhiannon and Zane’s personalities aren’t particularly distinctive, though their professional lives do give them some unique attributes. However, the strong family ties and friendships depicted in the book add a heartwarming touch.
One refreshing aspect of "Tiny Truths" is the lack of a dramatic third-act breakup. Instead, Rhiannon and Zane demonstrate good communication throughout their relationship, which is a nice change of pace. That said, the writing sometimes falls into the trap of telling rather than showing, which can make the story feel a bit flat and leave the reader without a strong emotional connection to the characters or their journey.
The book includes plenty of steamy scenes, though they did not get me hot and bothered at all. Overall, while "Tiny Truths" might not leave a lasting impression, it's a decent choice if you're in the mood for a romance that doesn’t demand too much from its readers.
2.5/5 ⭐️ It was just okay. Nothing really memorable about any of the characters. Lots of love, big family vibes it was a nice feeling throughout the book. I liked the beginning and then at a certain point I wasn’t feeling it anymore & just continued on to see if it would get more exciting? Spice was ok, not really cringy but just a little lackluster. Too many names to keep track of at times, I was a little confused. Not a fan of 2 epilogues.
I enjoyed this more than the 1st book in the series. I’m not a fan of this style of writing though. It has more of a choppy timeline and I feel that makes it harder to really get to know the characters.
More spice in this book. I love a good friends to lovers plot.
i love fake dating. idk why, but its my jam. this was such a fun read, not only was it fake dating, but best friends older brother, childhood friends. it has it all. i really liked zane when i first met him in wrong places (his sister and best friends book) teralyn got me good a few times while reading it. i told her that they needed to let zane bang his feelings out lol. i wasn't shocked to see that his ex started making a small appearance and i loved how it was handled. i can't wait for the rest of the series!
Zane and Rhi have known each other practically all of their lives. They're friends and roommates who have regular dinners together with both of their families. When his sisters and mother think he should get serious about dating again, they put him on a dating site. He's totally against it but what's a man to do so the women in his life won't hate him? Go on date after date and be miserable. Rhi is up for Senior Architectural Designer in her firm. It's what she's worked so hard for all of these years. But it's out of state and she doesn't know if she can leave her family and friends and move to a place where she doesn't know anyone. Both of their families are having a laugh a minute at Zane's dating woes. Teasing him has become a favorite past-time. So what happens when one true friend needs rescuing? He pulls in the other true friend for the save! With his eyes full of "desperation and pleading", how could she refuse? And so begins a course that will change both of their lives When they go on a business trip and possessiveness leads to feelings that he thought he was over emerge into a small taste of heat, they both know when they get home, things will never be the same. He's had his heart broken before, which she knew about but can he tell her how he feels about her? She's worked so hard to achieve her dream. Can she leave her hometown? Leave Zane? These two were good together and once the heat started, they were totally consumed! Friends to lovers. Low angst. Steamy and laughs that only a large family could bring. I truly enjoyed this gem. Will I go on with the series? Oh yes. Tiny Truths
This was super adorable!! I may or may not have put off sleep so I could finish it haha.
It was a time jump from the previous book and Rhi and Zane are now besties living together. They end up fake dating for awhile to avoid the matchmaking Z’s family kept foisting on him which was hilariously cringe to experience.
I loved the friendship between these two in the first book so I’m glad they got their own story. It was clear from the get go that they meshed really well together. I loved the scenes of Zane cooking for her and caring for her the most. It was pretty dang cute that he fell first but it didn’t take long for Rhi to join the page.
The family/found family aspect in these books is really precious. Everyone supports and loves everyone from the parents down to the wee ones and it’s so sweet. I loved the scenes with Rhi and the kids, especially her moments with Brielle. It’s clear they were all bonded with super glue.
I liked that even though there was a bit of angst towards the end, there was no third act breakup. Rhi and Zane were happily in love and there to stay.
Overall this was a very sweet, small town, fake dating, bff to lovers romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We got a sneak peak into the next story and I’m so intrigued! I’m a sucker for a single dad romance so I can’t wait to read this one!
Fake dating, childhood friends, friends to lovers, close proximity and more this steamy romance is too good. Tiny Truths book 2 in the Rosa Oaks series, Rhiannon and Zane have always been friends but when those feelings start to morph and change into something new they both try to steer clear as to not ruin their friendship. I loved this Zane mending his heart after a devastating blow from his ex and feisty Rhiannon with no filter refusing to sacrifice her youth and settle for less than she deserves all while climbing the corporate ladder and never letting go of her aspirations. But Zane nourished that fire in her in more ways than 1 😮💨 and was willing to uproot his own life and career, everything for her. Rhiannon thinking this was going to just be a casual thing had to pick her face up when she tripped and fell head over heels for her childhood friend. The close relationship between them and their siblings and families is so indicative of the culture that it wasn’t a problem for me to remember who was who. Overall this story of family friendship love and loyalty is one that will leave you with a full heart. 10/10 definitely recommend.
Rhi and Zane gave all the vibes and baby they were smoking once that fire got started! He's her best friends brother, he's had a secret crush, they've known each other since they were 4, they're friends and roommates. However, in an effort to get the women in his life off his back about "finding live" after heartbreak he shocks all the families when he blurts they're dating. Their fake dating is a ruse that nobody believes because they actually see the real. The real is they've fallen and don't want to stop. Zane was ready to twist Rhi up like a pretzel when he saw her in that red dress you could feel the tension on the page! These two gave friends to lovers a new meaning. The little time jump showed that Mags and Xavier stayed pregnant...😂😂😂 Maggie said no more! This group is hilarious and I love them all.
Okay so I had been waiting for Tiny Truths for a while and this did not disappoint. Anyone who knows my trope preferences knows I do not normally gravitate to Friends-to-Lovers but this was charming, hilarious, and downright enjoyable.
Rhi and Zane were incredibly fun to watch. Not gonna lie, the cringe worthy matchmaking family shenanigans had me snorting then as the relationship between these two developed more, it was sweet and just perfect.
This is definitely a fun, entertaining read. Teralyn never stops amazing me, she knows her audience of readers, there was no third-act breakup, the angst was just right and the dynamics of the characters were relatable. Cannot wait to dive into Splintered Hearts.
Received an eARC in exchange for an honest review through the author group.
This was my first read from T. Mitchell. I liked that though it is part of a series, I didn't feel like i missed anything from the previous book. I enjoyed the family dynamic, although I continued getting characters confused. Just when I thought I had them straightened out, more new characters were introduced. The plot was well thought out, and the characters complemented each other well. The climax wasn't as explosive as I thought it was going to be, but I do like how it was handled. There are several adult moments and cussing, though not extreme.
This book is an amazing read! I don’t always love the friends to lovers trope because it often feels overly complicated; however, this book nailed the transition from friends to lovers in an unproblematic and drama free way! The depth that was covered for each of the characters was stellar and the flow of the storytelling was engaging. I laughed out loud and found myself smiling throughout the story. If you like a story that is drama free, full of family and friend love, SPICY, and very realistic – you have to run and get “Tiny Truths”!
Rhiannon and Zane are best friends and roommates. When Zane’s family shakes his life up with dating app dates, he declares that he and Rhiannon are dating.
while the family eventually sees through their deception, Zane and Rhiannon develop real romantic feelings for each other. But they have many things to work out… her potential promotion would mean a move to Colorado and his ex fiancée is a thorn that shows up after four years.
There is a happy ending, plenty of $€X, and I loved that the actual drama was limited once they admitted their true feelings for each other.
This was a new to me author that recently found out about after seeing their post on threads, then getting an email that I had won a contest and had received an advanced copy of this book. I was absolutely obsessed with this story. And I absolutely loved it. It had so many funny moments that kept me in stitches, and i enjoyed the writing of the story as well as the flow of it. It was one of those stories that you absolutely don't want to put down until you're finished with it. I will be checking out the author's back list and I can't wait for the her next book.
This friends to lovers romance was a Good Read (pun intended)
What I Loved: Again, the Rosa Oaks crew (families and friends) were great. I loved the friendship between Rhiannon and Zane. The way they supported each other through heartbreak, career changes, and life was endearing!
What I Didn't Like: Some of the conversations amongst family members and friends in the book seemed a bit stretched, but it wasn't "off-putting"

Roomies who fake date to fool his family and fall hard for each other with no third act breakup? Yes please! Rhiannon and Zane are really cute together as friends but when they hook up their chemistry is scorching. Surrounded by a lovable cast of characters, this story is full of humor, friendship, and romance. It was enjoyable from start to finish and I can’t wait to read more about the residents of Rosa Oaks. 4.5⭐️
Thanks to the author for the arc copy in exchange for my honest review.
I did enjoy reading this book I’m just not the biggest fan of how their relationship was developed and the pacing of it in this book specifically. It’s romance so of course it’s gonna be a little cringey but I think it was more than I wanted. Besides that I did like the rest of it and would still recommend it to my friends
Rhiannon and Zane have a playful banter and they give what they get. From best friends, to fake dating to, “do I have feelings for him?”. A smooth transition, nothing rushed, but also not to much of a slow burn. The spice, was spicing. Also love the close knit family throughout the first two books, and I know will continue into the 3rd!
this was a quick & light read for me. friends to lovers always a yes. but there were just so. many. names. like who are all these people?!
i did like the tender moment zane and rhi had at the beginning of the book & i wish we had seen more of that! it was clear then how gone they were for each other already.
overall a decent read. adding the next book to my tbr.
Zane and Rhiannon have been best friends forever, they are roommates and when Zane he says they are dating because of his meddling family, how will it affect them? It was a good small town read with their close knit families. Some humor, good characters and fun cute story.
This was a quick read. Two best friends decide to give love a chance. Promotions. Long distance. Exes. Family. Will it work? Looking for love in all the right places.
This is the second book in the series. The author gave us an extended preview that got me hooked. Both MC's have been best friends for year and agree to fake date to get everyone off their backs. They do a horrible job in making it believable, but ultimately acknowledge their feelings. I'm really excited for the other books in the series.
This book had no emotions, no depth to it. The main character was insufferable and so immature. The story was very fast paced, everything happened to happen and it was predictable from the start.
This was a nice cute read. The dynamic of the main characters does not feel force and genuinely feels like 2 people who grew up together. The ending could have been a tad bit longer but I loved it.
