The problem with rating a collection is that the one rating has to apply to all the stories. The first one, Keeping Council, was mildly irritating because the author insisted on calling the suspect Bill Hamilton every time he was referred to. After the first, maybe second time, the reader gets it. Call him Bill after that.
The second and third stories, Beyond Malice and Character Witness, were pretty good and worthy of three stars.
By the final story, The Mentor, I was done with the book and didn't finish it.
It really wasn't about serial killers, which I thought from the title, but about lawyers handling difficult cases. If you're a fan of LA Law and that genre, this is for you. As a layperson without a huge interest in law stuff, I became bogged down and lost interest...
I Have read a few of her books and liked them very much. That's why I bought this package but I just couldn't get into the idea that an attorney would have to keep such a confidence of a murderer when laws I know of state you have to report someone who you think will do injury to himself or others so it just doesn't make sense to me and I didn't finish it
Definitely an interesting book! Truly a book that kept me like I felt that I was sitting on the edge of my seat, even though I was lying in bed reading the book.
