All over the world, people were dying, and police were baffled. In a different city every night, one hundred otherwise healthy people dropped dead out of the blue, for no apparent reason. There were no signs of trauma, except for a small circular bruise on the chest, right above the heart. The victims had nothing else in common. At least nothing apparent. But when authorities dug further, they found that each of the victims had killed in the past. Some out of anger, some out of negligence. Some were murderers. And others had killed by drunk driving or other means. Once the police knew that each victim had taken the life of another human being, they had their motive. But they didn’t understand how it was happening, or who was doing it. Then, to a lowly police detective, a figure appeared from a place far away. He explained what was happening and why. And he told the detective that he, and only he, could stop it.
