A story that has historians scratching around for titbits for over a millennium. What happened to the Ninth Legion and how did they all disappear without a trace?
As Jack and May start to enjoy their evening, it was very rudely interrupted by a certain Marcus Cerialis and his band of merry legionaries!

If you're a lover of Indiana Jones, National Treasure, The Mummy (1999) and Tomb Raider then you will absolutely devour this series.
Rome, Italy 67 AD. Quintus Cerialis, General of the Ninth Legion despises Nero. But when Nero discovers Quintus’s secret, he must do as he asks or die.
Rome, Italy. Present day. Jack and May are on a relaxing 3-week vacation. At a black-tie dinner event in the Colosseum celebrating the discovery of antique Imperial Roman Army legion aquila headpiece. Then the headpiece is audaciously stolen and May kidnapped.
Even though I know why, I didn’t like Jack hanging out with Gemma while May was in trouble. But I like how Jack and Marcus worked together. Still too much childishness, but at least others are noticing it. Story reminds me of ‘National Treasure’.
Footnote: 1) I was following their climbing around York Minster’s roofs on Google Earth and some of the doors and such just aren’t there. Lots of windows.
Fave scenes: the call from Jimmy, Jack & Theo in the plane, the chance game and May helping Gemma down the stairs.
Very inventive. Enough historical ties to give depth to the narrative. Strong characters with touches of humor. All in all, the author has created a satisfying, entertaining work of fiction that allowed this seasoned reader to suspend disbelief and turn the pages with anticipation. Thank you Matt James for another, (I've read most in the series) ... another fun read!

A riveting story wrapped in ancient history that we never took time to learn. Action abounds, followed by twist and turn as Jack Reilly wit fully solves the mysteries he most face
Jack Reilly does it again. He and May start out on an adventure to locate Alexander the Great’s grave and get abducted by the Ninth Legion and other adversaries along the way. They explore coliseums and underground crypts along the way.
This was a well thought out book! Full of adventure and surprise around every corner. I was sorely disappointed that there wasn't any real go!d, gems, silver, etc. I would recommend this read to any treasure hunting fan!
The Lost Legion bk 6 Outstanding again. Just enough action, just enough mystery, and a lot of death defying pages to make it another fun story. Thank you Matt James. Definitely a keeper for the collection!
Jack really has a difficult time staying out of trouble. This time it starts with a killing in the Colosseum and ends with the finding of some key historical sites. Loved it.
Well written with significant historical context well integrated. Appreciated a minimal use of expletives and unnecessary sexual situations. Well done, Matt.
