Life seems to be a series of one-two (and three-four) punches for 19 year old Cassie. Her alcoholic mother forced her to raise her younger sister. Her boyfriend died in a car accident on the same day she saw the second bright pink line confirming her pregnancy. And to top it all off, she can’t afford to go to college. Cassie struggles to hang on, finding solace in the sharp edge of a razor. But when she meets Josh, a gorgeous and compassionate college student, her entire world is thrown into question. Their passionate romance allows Cassie to believe she might be worthy of love and happiness. Of course, in Cassie’s world, nothing good seems to last very long. After work one night, she is sexually assaulted by a stranger-one who turns out to be a wealthy kid with connections as deep as his anger issues. When Cassie finds herself pregnant for the second time and her attacker comes back for vengeance, she flees halfway across the country to protect herself and her baby. It is because of the North Carolina beach town she lands in, and the quirky people she meets, that prove to Cassie that she is stronger than she ever realized.

I received this book as a gift from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This story is so close to reality, it’s scary. We live in a depression world with heartbreak and loss. Cassie struggles to deal with the pain but finds her outlet by cutting herself. It’s truly a sad story until she finds Josh.
I won’t spoil the story by telling you if she can survive her woes, but I will tell you that you should definitely read this book. It’s inspiring.
