Christ...

I should have known what I was letting myself in for after reading one of the authors other novellas, Fertile Fields. Somehow, it slipped my mind. I needed more time to recuperate from that one, before reading this.

Four Hispanic college students: Robby, Diana, Jorge and Misti, enter unknown territory when they go on a road-trip from San Antonio to Californa. They are pulled over by a (fake) small town sheriff, who accuses them of being illegal immigrants, they're cuffed - and driven to a location up in the mountains/hills where there's a small town, unlike any other.

Each of them gets sold to some of the residents of this small community. Robby is taken to someone known as, Doc. I visualised the 'Doc' as a cross between the surgeon in the 'Re-animator' movie, the chef on the Muppet Show - and Dr Frankenstein. He's got some of the most craziest experiments and projects in the pipeline - and its going take a while for me to eradicate those images from my mind; especially with what happens to Angela, one of the Doc's guests' who has been held captive for quite a while. This is worth reading just for that scene. Doc, and his 'barn of horrors' is the highlight of the book.

Diana is taken to Roy and his nephew, Scooter, who waste no time in having some fun with her. There's another person being held in their abode, Tina, who ends up doing a doozy of a pole-dance - doozy being the operative word.

Jorge is given to a small elderly woman, Gilda, who has the sexual appetite of a T-Rex.

And Misti becomes the property of Buck. I'm not sure what to say about what happens to Misti; except, it's not good. Well, it's not good for any of them - come to think of it.

What motivates the people in this small town, to do what they do? Well, we get a little insight as to why they do these horrific acts.

Each of the main characters go through some of the most torturous acts you can imagine. That being said, some of it was strangely amusing.

This is one hell of a gore-fest, with more fluids flying around in the first half of this novella, than you'll see at an annual porn convention - I'm guessing.

In summation: an over-the-top extreme horror novella, that doesn't shy away from the blood, guts and gore. It's not that realistic: because the human body can only take so much, before it goes into automatic shutdown. The victims seemed to last longer than I would have expected; considering the excruciating pain that was inflicted upon them. Plus, the dialogue was a bit silly at times. There's a sequel 'Return to Hell, Texas' - that I'll check out, sometime, to see how the story pans out.

Hell, Texas would be the degenerate progeny if The Human Centipede and Tusk had a love child. This book is an amalgam of all the evil and inhumane things in the world. Holy shit.

I’m used to reading/watching splatterpunk genre and torture porn movies so I’m not bothered by depraved acts and sadistic compulsions in a book but still, this whole experience was rather demoralising as a woman.

Jorge, Misti, Diana and Robby were college students driving through Texas on a roadtrip, they were pulled over by Sheriff Cutter, handcuffed and sold to the residents of Hell, Texas. It was a nightmare no waking up from.

This is an OK book. If you are prepared to have night terrors after reading this, then help yourself.

Freak limbs photo: freak 908503988fd7d9492bo4os9sw.gif

A group of Mexican-American college students are driving through Texas when suddenly, a police officer stops them for no apparent reason. Insisting that they're a band of illegal aliens, he takes them into custody. But he doesn't haul them off to jail. Instead, they end up in a community of Mexican-hating fanatics in a town aptly called Hell. Plenty of gore and tortue ensues as the new residents meet their bloodthirsty captors.

This book started out with such promise then steadily declined (and then plummeted by the end). There are some good, gory bits and creative forms of torture. And I know that this is a work of fiction, of course, but the story went from plausible to downright ludicrous toward the end of the story. It became frustrating to endure. The first half or so of this book would get four stars, but the latter part dwindled down to a generous one star. Very disappointing, for me at least. I know many people might enjoy that "B-movie" appeal and find it entertaining so please don't let this review discourage you.

My other issue with this book is that there is an inconsistency amongst the characters that threw me off. It's not the most major thing, but still disrupted the flow the of the story as I paused and looked back within the story to try and clear up the confusion. I've read and enjoyed another book by the author, so I won't give up on his writing.

Extreme horror

I was warned this book was brutal, and they were 100% correct! I found however that it was quite unique, with great characters and a terrifyingly awesome plot! Highly recommended to any fan of modern horror.

I love the creative gore that Miller always blends into his stories. I usually prefer something that could really happen in real life. And I'm not saying that there s not a crazy doctor out there turning people into furniture, but I still found it very amusing. I like finding the humor in the violence.

Robby, Jorge, Misti and Diana, four friends on a trip back from vacationing in California, have unknowingly stumbled into a nightmare as they make their way through El Paso,Texas. The author's tone is subtle in the beginning as to draw in the reader with a simple start, allowing for a more relatable feel towards his story's protagonists. Tim Miller has done a outstanding job, with gruesome and macabre details of the horrific events that take place within the story. One can only imagine the depths of Tim Millers convoluted mind as he wrote this story with such finesse for the gory and depraved acts that happen within this book, but once what was horror could turn into a book of finding oneself. Delving into the depths of the sick and twisted brings to mind a quote, "He who fights monsters must take care, lest he becomes one himself".

Outstanding, graphic, and well written book.

You're just driving along with friends when you suddenly get pulled over for no reason and taken to a town in the middle of nowhere. Your life is suddenly not your own and you have just arrived to hell on earth. A very twisted story...can you survive? Not for the faint of heart or those with queasy stomachs.

This was a short fast paced read. Welcome to Hell Texas where a group of sociopaths decided to take revenge to another level . You have the Dr. who turns humans into atrocities, the old lady who loves to watch/commit vile sex acts, the uncle who likes to buy his nephew new toys. This book was violent and gory from the get go. I highly recommend to those who like extreme books. Be warned of extreme violence, rape , racism and pure fuckery !

Inhalt:

Get ready to cringe, my friend's

I wanted to read something out of my comfort zone and did I get it. Author Tim Miller has a way to build this messed up, scary world and I love it! I've never read a book like this, never even gave books like this a thought, I think Mr. Miller started something for me. It's as if you've entered a scary movie, following along by the words you read. I cringe, got goosebumps and my stomach got a bit turned upside down, and I enjoyed every second of it.
You'll follow four friend's who will be brought to Hell, Texas and experience their torture, through their eye's. Some may not survive, some may, but they will all experience our worst nightmare. Think of The Hills Have Eyes meets House of a 1000 Corpses and my friend's, you'll get Hell, Texas. I'm excited to read more from this author!

I like my gore with a good plot. There is some plot here, but it is rushed. I didn't give one hoot about any of people in the book. Not even the victims because they died soon as we learned their name. I will pass on the other books in this series.

Hell, Texas is not a place that I would want to be anywhere near. It is already a scary concept of breaking down in the middle of nowhere without having to worry about psychopaths. The funny thing is that this could really happen! There are a lot of places that no one knows about, where there is no cell coverage that people could get taken to and tortured. This book was so gory and twisted and messed up. You'd better have a strong stomach when reading this story because there are some really disgusting things that happen. But, I was laughing at parts of it too. I will tell you that Tim Miller has has come up with some very unique, very obscene methods of torture in this story. Very gruesome, very scary and definitely the definition of horror!

Ooooooooh - Don't buy this for Gran. This is not a book for everyone. If you are into and enjoy the Wrath James White or Tim Curran kind of thing then you should enjoy this. It is a short, sharp read and it will curl your toenails if you are one of the sensitive type. There are grammatical errors and there are sections that don't make a whole lot of sense but if you enjoy movies like 'Hostel' and 'Saw' then this is the read for you. I don't know that too many publishers would even look at this because it is really out there relating to the violence and the squirm factor.

For extreme horror Tim Miller is the man. There is some seriously crazy stuff in this book. The torture he puts people through takes some adjusting to when reading his books and as long as you accept "anything goes" then cool. You will enjoy it. Tim really can write though, and you do care for the four people who visit hell town and the story arc works nicely. Even the ending kind of makes sense. You just need to accept that just because someone is nice it does not give them a right to life when they visit Hell Town.

An absolutely fantastic introduction to the work of Tim Miller.

This story has everything for horror fans; gore, shocks, suspense. It also has a brilliant story which takes place over the course of a couple of days but manages to make the reader feel like they have known the characters for much longer.

Totally unbelievable in parts, but that just added to the surrealism of the book.

I really enjoyed this and can't wait to read more from Tim Miller.

Highly Offend-able, which of course meant I loved it!

Copy of My Amazon Review:
Pulled over in the middle of nowhere by a small town sheriff, unsure of the reasons why he targeted them, four Hispanic friends quickly find themselves the victims of racial profiling. The sheriff, when speaking to his deputy, keeps referring to the four friends as illegal immigrants, talking through them, completely ignoring their documented proof to no avail. Their protests answered with brutal slaps, kicks, and punches. It doesn't take long (unfortunately) for them to figure out, he's no sheriff.

In a short amount of time, they arrive in town and are soon sold to some odd residents, where the townspeople live by their own rules. They learn quickly they have arrived in Hell, Hell Texas.

Minimal typos, characters you love to hate, and a well-established storyline. It's definitely extreme horror and not for the faint of heart or easily offended. The movie hostel comes to mind. If you don't like hostel or any of the saw movies, you definitely wouldn't like this book. If however you did, your going to LOVE this story.

Highly Offend-able, which of course meant I loved it!

You'll think about Hell, Texas every time you are driving down a deserted road or get pulled over...

Tim Miller has taken this book far beyond horror. Hell, Texas is a psychological nightmare that you'll never forget. The reality that a town like this could exist is terrifying. Miller managed to touch on every emotion as if he was experiencing Robby, Diane, Jorge, and Misti's reactions to what the towns people put them through.

I am far from squeamish and a huge extreme horror fan, but I honestly had to set this book down a couple times before I could finish. The book was so detailed that I felt as though I was the one living through Diane and Misti's torment. The reality just hit me that hard. I loved this book even though parts of it will forever haunt me, because Hell, Texas was able to do something to me no book, movie, or even my own reality has been able to do in a very long time.... It gave me nightmares.

If there was a 10th circle of Hell. Then Hell, Texas would be were it's at.

What a ride!
I liked this book.
I think what makes it stand out from the extreme horror crowd, is that is builds a certain empathy for the victims.
I actually found myself hoping they could get out alive, when usually I'm just ready for the bloodbath.
The whole Robbie thing was a little far fetched for my liking and the ending just didn't really wash with me.
But this is fiction and it was a pretty cool idea.
But overall, I really enjoyed it.
I'm starting to really like this author.

Well what can I say?? Tim Miller NEVER disappoints. If you love horror and gore you've found the right author! This book of course is based in Texas and is about two couples on a road trip "mistaken" as illegal aliens. There is nothing I can say about what they endure after they are arrested. I don't think I could wish any of it on my worst enemy!! But another great book by a great author! I'll be reading more by him.

Four young Hispanic-Americans enter a town with a grudge against Hispanics, and are horribly abused. A violent and bizarre story, decently written, although the characters were somewhat superficial. Still, I enjoyed it as I enjoy most of Mr. Miller's stories.
