Epigenetics: The Death of the Genetic Theory of Disease Transmission

Rate this book
WHAT IS EPIGENETICS? Epigenetics is an emerging field of science that studies alterations in gene expression caused by factors other than changes in the DNA sequence. The Death of the Genetic Theory of Disease Transmission is the result of decades of research and its findings that could be as critical to our understanding of human health as Pasteur’s research in bacteriology. Dr. Joel “Doc” Wallach has dedicated his life work to identifying connections between certain nutritional deficiencies and a range of maladies, formerly thought to be hereditary, including Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy. This nexus between nutrition and so-called genetic disease has been observed in both humans and primates, and it is the central theme of Epigenetics. To bring us Epigenetics, Wallach has teamed with noted scholars Dr. Ma Lan and Dr. Gerhard N. Schrauzer. Their collective expertise gives this book its far reaching perspective. Epigenetics is of vital importance to anyone who wants real knowledge about how the human body functions, and it provides a path for better health. Epigentics dispels the dogma and misinformation propagated by medical institutions and doctors resistant to change. Epigenetics is the beginning of a new era of well-being on this planet.

PUT DOWN THE PIE ... AND PICK UP THIS LIFE-CHANGING BOOK ABOUT GENETICS, DISEASE, AND NUTRITION

NUTRITION. GENETICS OF DISEASE. BIRTH DEFECTS. ALL are linked in a new field of science called EPIGENETICS. This outstanding font of knowledge suggests direct connections between nutritional deficiencies and a wide range of illnesses previously thought to be hereditary. This is nothing short of an evolution in a new age of thinking that combines biochemistry, nutrition, and Epigenetics with a crash course in the history of disease research and a new way of thinking.

Mom was right: YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT and we are also what we absorb. How many times have we heard this, but ignore it to indulge in foods without the proper nutrients our bodies crave for optimum health? Even as we fall prey to otherwise preventable diseases historically blamed on hereditary "bad genes". All too often, I am one of you, but hopefully no more. This enlightening book lays out the link between how the body works and its nutritional needs through decades of groundbreaking animal and human research on disease prevention, cures, and medical dogma that promotes pharmaceutical "maintenance" of health conditions/symptoms that cannot be cured with medicine.

The author is a veterinarian by trade, but his lifelong innovative biomedical research blows the link between genetics and disease to smithereens, and he joins forces with other well-known scientists. This book is not for the casual reader. It's a serious read packed with detailed science, studies/research/chemistry, and enough innovative thinking to blow our minds. Few among us are disease-free, and I urge every human to indulge in this book. Put down the pie and pick up this book. The takeaway is astounding and could be YOUR cure.

There was a time, even recently, that I would have rejected the notion of any explanation other than diseases being transmitted strictly through genes and DNA. You've got good genes or bad genes, right? The answers to and prevention of what is actually many self-caused conditions have been right under our noses all along, if you open your mind to the evidence of Epigenetics front of you about how nutrition, not heredity, alters genes when regarding many diseases.

Transmission is one of my most recent curiosity reads. With the increased attention given to Genetic Testing, the subject matter of Epigenetics intrigued me. Stemming from the diligent research of the highly acclaimed, powerful collaboration of Joel B. Wallach, BS, DVM, ND; Ma Lan, MD, MS, LAc and Gerard M. Schrauzer, PhD, MS, FACN, CNS; Epigenetics offers a valid and noteworthy perspective on the functionality of the human body and the benefits of utilizing applied research to our daily nutritional intake. Reading Epigenetics was a most informative and comprehensive undertaking. The esteemed recipient of the 2011 Klaus Schwarz Commemorative Medal. Dr. Joel D. Wallach leads his colleagues in presenting a combination of scientific research and applicable lifestyle transformations vital to healthier living. Epigentics is guaranteed to serve as a reference point for all of our families' medical questions and concerns.

Very long, over discursive, boring and most of all, the "medical" statements about virtually all ailments and diseases being caused by dietary deficiencies is completely unsupported by any scientific evidence. Indeed a dangerous book.

The author adopts a provocative title that ultimately overpromises and underdelivers on its core scientific premise. Despite invoking epigenetics—a rigorously defined field concerned with gene regulation mechanisms beyond DNA sequence—the book devotes minimal substantive attention to epigenetic theory, empirical evidence, or contemporary molecular biology. Instead, it reads largely as a sweeping, and often anecdotal, narrative on the history of medicine, nutrition, supplementation, and alternative health practices, frequently advancing strong claims about micronutrient deficiencies and disease causation without adequate engagement with peer-reviewed biomedical research. This mismatch between title and content is misleading for readers expecting a serious treatment of epigenetics as understood in modern genetics and health sciences. A more accurate framing would position the book as a popular, advocacy-driven account of nutritional medicine and historical medical perspectives rather than as a scholarly or even balanced exploration of epigenetic science.

Some useful ideas which would be worth investigating further. However, the book needed an editor to avoid repetitive discussions and organize the flow better.

My boss recommended I read this. It is absolute trash with a small bit of history thrown in for flavor. I can not recommend against this strongly enough. The author spends pretty much the entire book pontificating on his persecution complex and trying to draw parallels to revolutionary figures in the history of science to try to convince the reader that they are the victim of a vast medical conspiracy. It has basically nothing to do with the science of Epigenetics and everything to do with the same snake oil panacea that the author has been hawking for years. People have died from preventable illnesses because of the misinformation of this man and I can not more strongly recommend fact checking every single claim that he presents.

The history bits are a bit fun though. Not fun enough for me to ever entertain reading it if my boss didn't enthusiasticly insist, but it helped get though the crap.

A wise persons book

Exceptional book written by the wonderful Dr. Wallach. He exposes medical fraud , obstinate doctrine , scientific and medical dogma and the refusal of allopathic medicine to consider other medicinal approaches to human health. Dr . Wallach is an amazing teacher and a great human being. Epigenetics is a fascinating area of science . Rupert Sheldrake also has an interesting perspective on epigenetics. Read this book.

I'm still not sure if this was the history of medicine, his personal biography, a sales pitch, a reference guide, or all the above. Gross amounts of misspellings, random commentary, and bad grammar inside of these pages. While the information in the last 75 pages was very useful, the rest of the book was an attempt at...well, something. There are better ways to spend your time, as the afore mentioned 75 pages can be found via a Google search.

The organization of this book is very confusing, and i would say there is more history of medicine and dr. Wallach self promotion than epigenetics in this book.

except a coupleof interesting chapters this book is not worth reading from cover to cover.
