Parker Knight has one thing on his putting himself first. When murky choices within his team leave him wondering if he’ll remain a starting wide receiver, he’s ready to make whatever move necessary to rediscover his happiness. But warring thoughts of starting anew, moving away from family and familiarity, and dissolving an unordinary relationship with his former best friend have him wondering what’s the best choice.
Saheeli Donovan’s on track to leave Houston and her parent’s coffee shop behind so she can get back to LA and her piloting and teaching others how to do the same. What she didn’t think would happen as she recalibrated her life was a desire to spend time with the man whom she never should’ve fallen into bed with.
High school might’ve been years ago, but their heated argument from then still keeps Parker and Saheeli at each other’s throats. Yet, the aftermath of an unexpected vacation together has them picking fights just to blow off steam in more intimate ways. Except, they try to ignore the burning feelings growing within, too. But Parker’s competitive nature has him determined to get through the red zone so he can score Saheeli’s love he didn’t expect to want.
It's a 3.5 for me. Liked a lot of things about it; unfortunately what lessened it for me was the redundancy and often contradictory or confusing conversations and dealings between Saheeli and Parker. Some things felt dragged out a tad too much and coupled with the things mentioned above, it just ended up muddling my overall enjoyment.
That being said, there were several moments when I chuckled out loud, and I could appreciate Parker's 'sappy' moments and how Saheeli took care of him when he was down. And how she owned her part in things; they both did, but I don't often see BOTH parties do so. Women seem to usually get a pass in a lot of books but I appreciated that Saheeli readily took accountability, and that Parker (or his family) didn't let her off the hook for it despite forgiving her. That was refreshing.
If there are going to be more books in the series, I look forward to reading them. I'd like to see the sister get more attention, finally... she often seems like an afterthought.
Parker and Saheeli started their crazy story 2 books ago. I’ve been anxiously waiting for it to play out. The heated hate not hate going on is so realistic. The intertwined personal situations on and off the field for Parker and off the field for Saheeli made it impossible to put this down. I loved Granny Mil as usual she did not disappoint. The banter between the brothers was awesome as well. This is highly recommended
Well, another Knight down. Parker has so so far been the Knight with the biggest heart. He was horrible in the beginning but me,lowed out and took care of business in the end. He and Saheeli were too much. Their constant bickering was a problem for me but I stayed the course. Julian’s injury had me almost in tears though and now I am wondering how he is going to turn out. Awesome book like the other 2.
