This was my favorite of the series. My only complaint remains the same: I couldn't imagine what the characters looked like and the cover model doesn't really match the little that is said about what one of the characters looks like.
That said, the story was the most balanced in my opinion. The humor worked here, not because it was silly, but because it was better applied and worked, and it suited the character. I like the darker, more taciturn humor, which I believe was used in Digger's book, but it didn't work. It was supposed to be funny, but it was anything but, it was monotonous. Ace, on the other hand, was refreshing. I found myself laughing at several parts of the book, as well as being able to empathize with Kody and his suffering from the abusive relationship he had, which I couldn't feel for Matt and Digger.
I would have liked to have seen more of Ace's interaction with his mother, since it was said that he was a mommy's boy. It would have been nice. Kody's ex could have also appeared more, not as a physical danger, but as an emotional problem. I think it would have given the story more curves, it wouldn't have been straightforward. But it was good.
I enjoyed reading it more than I did in the other books. I got more involved with the characters (within the limitation of not knowing what they're like). Although the other Disciples appeared, they weren't as present in the moments, except for the beginning when they were all together cycling.
We had a lot of sex, but not as much as in Steel and Kai's book, which I appreciate. I love sex scenes, don't get me wrong, but when they're prolonged without adding anything, they're repetitive and there just to fill pages, it gets boring and tedious. That didn't happen here, at least not for me. I thought they were well placed, since these are characters who have a greater sexual appeal. But you can see that they didn't overpower the scenes of danger, action and even the moments of romance. And maybe that's the difference, they had romance, it wasn't just the question of my blood boils for you, it wasn't just the lack of control of I'm going to fuck this wall, they did the romance part, the affection and love and I devoured it.
I didn't really like that once again the character who is connected to the club was seen as just muscle and little brain. Okay, yes, they are in an outlaw club and everything. But isn't that what the book is about? A club that despite being 1%, doesn't use it for bad things but rather to do good, even if the general public and the police don't know, they continue to do their part. But portraying several of those characters as being idiots, unintelligent, stupid, is difficult. I would understand if it were one, since there is always a brainless one in groups, but almost all of them are hard to buy.
*Ace is a Disciples, perhaps the most clueless of all and despite his age of 28, he has the mentality of a scatterbrained teenager. He meets Kody when he accidentally crashes his motorcycle into Kody's fire truck and is saved by him. Kody is a firefighter who recently got out of an abusive relationship, which he only realized later, and who is trying to deal with everything. Even though he doesn't want a serious relationship, he finds himself attracted to Ace. Soon the two begin a sweet romance, where Kody realizes the trap he escaped when he was dumped by his ex.
The plot here is once again in charge of human trafficking, which this time addresses the theme of baby factories using abandoned young teenagers. We didn't have much development on the subject, it was quick, as if to introduce some danger and action to the book. Was it bad? No. But if it had been developed further it would have given even more substance to this book. And when I say body, I don't mean the addition of characters, but the quality and elements to the development of the story.
And that's it. This was the last book in the series. I always expect more from concluding books, but this one didn't disappoint me. We also know, according to the author, that in his next series, we will have the participation of the King's and Disciples. I hope it won't be just those participations with nonsensical lines or meaningless jokes or even the most famous in this type of series, he came in, shot and left. Let's pray.
