J.T. Ryan #1

The Sigma Conspiracy

Rate this book
Ex-Special Forces operative turned private-eye J.T. Ryan is hired by the FBI to help them thwart a menacing threat to the global economy. Counterfeit currency is turning up in large quantities and is indistinguishable from the real thing. The federal agency has only one lead. Before being killed in Rome, an FBI agent found a name, Sigma. With not much else to go on, Ryan goes to Italy. There he begins to uncover the operation of a secret cabal of industrialists. The shadowy group, known as the Alliance, is bent on dominating the world's currency markets. It appears they are using new, high-tech forging equipment called Sigma. Their plan is to destabilize the U.S. Dollar and the Euro and replace it with their own currency.
Barely surviving several attempts on his life as he sifts through a harrowing maze of deception and death, Ryan follows the leads from Rome to Mexico City and then to Moscow. As he uncovers the final layer of the conspiracy, he realizes the shocking truth: the real power behind the Alliance is in Washington D.C.
Can he blow the lid off the conspiracy before the global economy collapses?

This novel by Lee Gimenez grabs you from the opening page and never lets go. Private Investigator J. T. Ryan is hired as an FBI subcontractor to help locate the conspirators responsible for a flood of very authentic looking counterfeit currency into the U.S. and world markets, causing rising inflation world-wide. The action is nonstop, the characters are well-developed and compelling--both heroes and villains, and the settings, not only in the U.S. but in Mexico, Italy, and Russia, are vividly depicted, letting the reader clearly visualize the scene. The chapters are short, making it easy for the reader to keep reading "just one more." The book is hard to put down. I would have given it five stars except for one important detail that I felt was left hanging in the conclusion of the story. But despite that, the story held my interest throughout, and I can recommend it to anyone who enjoys thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Sigma Conspiracy is another Lee Gimenez gem. I know when I pick up one of his books, I'm in for some great reading. In this book, one my favorite characters, J.T. Ryan, is hired by the FBI to fight off a threat to the global economy. Counterfeit money is flooding the market. Ryan leads the charge to capture the criminals in this pulse pounding thriller. The writing is clear, easy to follow, and totally entertaining.

JT Ryan is back and badder than ever in this thriller that could have been taken from today's headlines. The Alliance wants to control the world's monetary markets and they'll stop at nothing to reach their goals. Too bad they didn't take Ryan into the equation. With an opening reminiscent of early Robert B. Parker, Ryan easily moves into control, taking on the bad guys and avenging a personal wrong. Gimenez has nailed the genre in this thriller. Highly recommended.

Uber talented Lee Gimenez gifts another amazing J.T. Ryan page turning thriller, as always! Hero J.T. takes down a diabolical counterfeit crime syndicate to save the US' economy! Both my Darling hubby & I (it's very rare that we enjoy the same author) look very much forward to the successive (they do stand-alone plot wise), gems of Lee's. But, my fave are those that also feature, as tough as she is brilliant and startlingly gorgeous, CIA Operative Rachel West, who may interact with J.T. in very provocative ways in his later tomes! Every Gimenez option is entirely diverting, masterfully delivering a most satisfying result to torn from the headlines capers, in contrast to what we're immersed in, in reality.
