A Game of Love

Rate this book
Tobias Munro and Bishop Grant are both my best friends, and the men I’m in love with.

Now that my feelings are out in the open, I’m not going back.

I want them both, and I refuse to choose.

Bishop is willing to do whatever it takes to make me happy, but can Toby do the same?

After years of getting the cold shoulder from my step brother, I now know why.

I’m willing to fight for him, to be at his side, and to be what he needs.

But I need more from him. We can’t change the past, but I won’t continue this way without some changes.

Not even half way through my first year at Silver Valley University and already so much has happened.

Is the rest of my school year going to be a mind fuck like before, or will things start to look up?

Boys, best friends, and a heart at risk of being broken. College is supposed to be the best years of our lives. I guess I’m about to find out for myself if that’s true or not.

I absolutely loved this such a great conclusion to Toby, Lily and Bishop’s story it was filled with sexual tension, spicy, funny and I loved getting cameos of Ellie’s friends. Book 2 picks up where we left off, Toby has found out about Lily and Bishop and now has to decide if he can really accept Bishop being in Lily’s life as more than a friend. I enjoyed seeing Lily put herself first and getting to explore what she likes, focus on developing her relationship with Bishop while still being a rock for Toby and giving him space and time to work through his acceptance. I love Toby and Bishop’s friendship even though it was strained because Toby felt betrayed I’m glad they were eventually able to get back on track and be with the woman they’ve loved for so long. Loved their HEA definitely well deserved after the emotional struggles they went through, I hope we get to see more of them in the future.

❤️Wow!! ❤️

This is the 2nd book in the ‘Forbidden Game’ duet! And it did not disappoint!!
This started off where the first ended.
I loved Bishop and Lilly’s relationship and how he only wanted her to be happy however that was going to look.
Toby struggling with his mental illness was heartbreaking but asking for help and watching him grow back into the man that both Lilly and Bishop deserved was everything!! So was Lilly being there for him however he needed and Bishop …. (being Bishop lol) not letting anything come between their friendship. And that wedding scene (iykyk) OMG 🫠😍
Also loved seeing the SVU crew still going strong and all their crazy lol
As usual, the writing was fantastic and Alisha really made you feel for these characters.
This will definitely go on my rereads list ❤️
Loved it so much I didn’t want it to end!!

Cannot wait for Bennet’s story ❤️

A Game of Love is the second book in the A Forbidden Game duet. At the end of A Game of Choice, Toby finds Bishop and Lilly in a compromising position.

In the beginning of this book, it’s the aftermath of him finding out that they’re together and how the three of them grow as a throuple, all the while attending college classes and hockey hockey games.

There’s so much character development for Toby from the first book in the duet to the end of this one. He goes from pushing Lilly away and being constantly angry to accepting who he is with his bipolar disorder and accepting Bishop’s relationship with Lilly. If he didn’t accept that Lilly and Bishop were a couple, he wouldn’t have his own chance to be with Lilly himself.

I love how Lilly’s family is so accepting and supportive of her and Toby’s relationship and how close they were growing up and how it was inevitable that they’d be together.

I think I would’ve liked there to have been a therapy scene when Toby brings Lilly to see his therapist with him.

Other than that, I loved Lilly’s relationship with Toby and Bishop as a throuple and as two separate couples. They loved each other unconditionally and with all of their faults ❤️ I absolutely loved how both Toby and Bishop can be sweet but turn into hot, possessive men in the next second 🥵

Holy spice! Is it getting hot in here or is it just me! Alisha knocked it out of the park with how hot and spicy this book is!! 🥵🥵🥵

First and foremost, if you haven’t read Silver Valley University, I recommend doing that before starting this duet to fully understand the depth of Lily and Toby’s relationship. You don’t need to, but you’ll have more clarity and won’t be disappointed! I will forever recommend SVU as it is my personal favorite series of all time.

The story continues after Toby finds Lily and their best friend Bishop “caught red handed”- and when I say I was waiting for the other shoe to drop the whole time, I mean it.

This story touches base on Toby and Lily’s traumatic pasts, mental illness, social anxiety/acceptance, rocky friendship and obstacles that they face head on with their rock Bishop by their side; you can’t help but root for them and their relationship. Plus you get all the spice!

Alisha outdid herself by showing adversity they overcame, social/family acceptance, normalizing therapy and truly understanding the meaning of soulmates. You truly get a HEA and it’s a such a beautiful journey.

As an added bonus, you get insight, clarity and closure on Bea and Jonas story.

Highly recommend!

Perfect ending!! I've been dying to finally get my hands on this book after the way the previous one ended 😭. This one picked up right where the other one ended.

I loved how there wasn't too much drama. There was so outside noise but overall it was more Toby focusing on his mental health and being able to accept Bishop and Lilly. His growth was phenomenal. I loveddd that he started taking his care of his mental health not only for Lilly but for himself too.

Their relationship was good. They had really good chemistry. They've been in each other's lives since forever basically so they had that easy flow and connection between them. They had so much love for each other 😭😭. They were also super patience when one of them needed to slow down or take their time. That most definitely helped the relationship a lot cause it made the trust grow a lot more between them.

This was honestly the best ending to this book. They've all suffered enough so seeing them embrace every part of themselves and their relationship and being happy and free was amazing. Their family and friends being so supportive had me crying.

I loved this book so much. The first one was angsty and heartbreaking at times, this one just made me so happy. Toby struggled with finding out about Bishop and Lilly dating, he felt betrayed and like he lost everything. Lilly kinda reached her limit and told him if he walked away, they were done for good. She refused to give up Bishop and told Toby he’d have to share. This led to a lot of soul searching and pain for Toby but ultimately, he was in. I love the way both of Lilly’s men love her. They’re the best kind of possessive and protective. Bishop was so patient with Toby, he never let his anger get to him. He knew Toby would end up where he needed to be for their relationship to work. I was so proud of Toby, he came so far from the beginning of this duet to the end. The love these 3 have for each other is so beautiful. I enjoyed seeing Toby’s and Lilly’s parents all these years later, still so in love and happy together. The epilogue made me tear up with happy emotions. Highly recommend this duet!!

Ugh, I just love all of these characters from this whole series. I have to say I am glad I read the parent's SVU Trilogy before reading this duet. I would recommend starting there if you haven't started this yet, it gives you so much more appreciation of all of the characters in the story.

I absolutely loved this duet. From the first SVU series where Lilly and Toby met, and later for a brief moment Bishop, you could tell they all had a special bond, but reading how it grew and what became of it is just amazing to me. Alicia really did all of the characters justice in these and gives you all the feels.

Book 2 of this duet gives you much more spice, but it's not so much that you lose anything from the plot. Seeing Toby navigate his mental illness, Lilly giving her forgiveness and never-ending loyalty, and Bishop being a rock for them both was perfect. You had all the empathy for them, from upset and heartache to laughter and happiness. I really could not have asked for more from these except to see them again sometime in the future.

Check CWs before reading

What a great ending to Toby, Bishop and Lilly's story - I was hesitant to see how Williams could resolve the plot after the ending of AGoC, but she gave our trio the happily ever after they deserved, whilst continuing to touch on such deep topics as mental health and normalising polyamorous relationships.

I truly love how it was all about Lilly, and yes, Toby needed to work to get that through his head, but at the end of the day, it was his and Bishop's love for her that shone through and won.

It's definitely a triad relationship; whilst there is no sword crossing between the best friends, Bishop loves Toby in his own way, and it was so great to see that side of the relationship, too, as the pages turned. As always with a book penned by Williams, when the spice hits, the heat is off the charts, and oh boy do these two boys bring it - Lilly is one lucky lady, that's for sure.

The support from Lilly and Toby's family is phenomenal, as well as the scenes we got with Bishop's family, too.

Altogether, a great ending to the duet, and I look forward to seeing if Williams expands on this second gen series - I will 100% be eating up anything else she does write in this world.

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

I have been rooting for this HEA. I loved Toby's growth in this series and how he fought be the best version of himself; I liked how this was such a big part of the book as his journey is important. Bishop and Lily continue to support Toby however his feelings of betrayal after the events of book one are another hurdle they all have to overcome.

Although this is Lily, Toby and Bishop's story, Chase stole the show for me. He and Theo were my favourites from the SVU series and seeing Chase as the over protective dad gave us some great one liners. I would have loved a one on one scene between Theo and Toby as I have always loved their relationship however the scenes with Rain and particularly the scene with Bennet made up for it. It was also great to see Auntie Val again!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Big Love for A Game of Love!

Y’all, I thought I loved A Game of Choice…..but I really really loved A Game of Love!

The Silver Valley Universe sucked me in with Tatum’s story as a young mother in a polyamorous relationship, and this years-later duet about her beloved Lilly’s path to finding love has me in all my feels.

The protective best friend and step brother (of sorts) Lilly has cherished her whole life froze her out for years after he left for college. When he gave her a glimmer of hope for their relationship, and then snatched it back, her heart fell into the hands of the sweetest man on earth - Bishop.

If Bishop isn’t swoon-worthy, then I’m not a human being. And Lilly’s and Toby’s path back to each other will leave you believing in love again.

The bond between Bishop, Lilly and Toby is fragile and tough as steel. Only their faith in each other can get them through the life changing challenge of hard launching their relationships.

Do yourself a favor, read part 1 of this duet and then run, don’t walk, to read A Game of Love.

This was definitely better than the first book as we finally get into the actual relationships. I found the first book quite repetitive and slow with endless confusion over Toby and his actions. Again and again. I appreciate that we had great MH representation but it was so hidden for so long and that just doesn't fit for such an open family. The kids should have been aware from the start, all of them, despite the fact the twins are clearly menaces and out of control.

I had no idea who half the parents were in this as I hadn't read the previous series and couldn't really keep them straight. The explanations were okay but there were too many to keep track of and they were all so up in everyone's business! Some were definitely more interesting as characters than others though.

TBH I would have preferred this be combined into a single book and not drawn out quite so much. And not having the same school drama playing out in both books. Like please, Katie was clearly going to do what she did again...

It was relatively entertaining but I'm not sure if I want to read the parents story or not. I guess it depends how much of a commitment it is as I haven't checked yet. So we'll see.

***This might contain some Spoilers!***

The cats out of the bag and this kitty is not happy! Who am I even fooling?! 😂 Toby is no kitty. 🤣 More like a dominant tattooed hotty with Alpha-hole tendencies. But Toby's jealous, overprotective, overbearing even and absolutely possessive tendencies are gonna be his downfall. Always self-sabotaging too. If he doesn't compromise or at least try to make it work, he's gonna lose Lilly probably for good this time. She's not ready to give up on him but he seems to be? It wont be easy but he needs to move past this thing with Bishop. Especially seeing how his best friend is making his girl happy. But can the over the top, jealous, possessive, A-hole share? His girl?  With his best friend? Can he get over this whole taboo step-sibling situation thing that's consuming his thoughts for nothing? Is he going to let other people who don’t even matter, dictate how they live their lives? The heart wants, what it wants.
It's time for Toby to embrace it !!!
Must Read Duet! It's absolutely Amazing 👏 And won't disappoint
Enjoy 😉

Finally giving in!
Well what another angst-ridden book in this duet! However there is light at the end of the tunnel as Toby finally makes the right decision, there's just some fallout to be dealt with. 😣 Some of his fears are unfounded, whereas others are definitely causing trouble in paradise for this found family! Thankfully Bishop is a great counterpart and balance in seeing the good and bringing a lightheartedness to their trio and troubles their facing😆 there are some heart tugging and heart warming moments throughout this book for Lily, her core strength and optimism are what see her and her hunky hockey men through 🥰 although the last book was slow burn this one is very much fast burn high heat spice…and there’s a lot of it to enjoy!🔥 glad this trio get the HEA they’ve been pining for 😀

Review for the series

I almost gave up a couple of times in the first 40% or so of book one. And that was almost entirely because the dialogue felt like it belonged on a 00's Nickelodeon teen show. Or White Girls. I mean, do people actually talk like that? Anyway, I feel like I was not the intended audience- that would be high school kids...

After the dialogue, it was the plot. I want to say that there isn't any. Nothing really happened, it was boring. I think it was meant to character-driven, except the characters weren't fleshed out enough or exceptional enough to actually drive the story.

That said, I did like the strong themes of family, acceptance, support, and being yourself despite what anyone thinks. I think the author did a good job showing what that can look like in real life.

Book two in A Forbidden Game duet. The next generation from Silver Valley. I have loved every second of being back in Silver Valley and getting to see how their lives have turned out. I loved Lilly and Toby’s relationship when they were kids, and it’s been so much fun reading their story. Bishop was their perfect counterpart and fit so well into their relationship. I loved how Lilly and Bishop got to develop a relationship of their own before Toby was by their side again.

Toby’s illness was beautifully portrayed and really well written. There were highs and lows, but he really growled and made it up to Lilly.
It was a lot more spice in this book, than the first. It was so hot! Both the individual scenes and of them all together.

It was a great duet, and I can’t wait to read more from this world in the future ✨

Two percent in… ““If you leave, if you walk away from me right now, Toby... I’m done. We’re done. For good.” I was so angry. I felt like there was such good progress and he’d already said he was in, then she gives him an ultimatum after what he just witnessed… Hell no. I’m mad all over again. Then right after, Bishop has the nerve for this…”No way in hell am I going to allow her to be with two men who can’t get along.” Are you serious right now? Bishop knew they were in love with one another, but he sure jumped when the opportunity presented itself. Ugh, you will just have to read it to find out what happens. The whole book had me going crazy wondering what’s going to happen next. It was the best! I definitely recommend!

Wow, book 2 picks up right where book 1 ended eith the discovery of Bishop and Lilly by Toby and if you thought that Toby would blow his lid he.... we'll once you reqd the book you find out he reacted quite the opposed than what most would have thought
This book Lily, Bishop and mostly Toby figure how to navigate this threesome relationship they have all embarked on.
I loved how Toby really worked on his mental health while it was heartbreaking watching him go through it within this book, seeing him come out the other side made it all worth it!!
Of course it wouldn't be an Alisha book without spice, banter and some good smexy times!
The cameos from Lily's mom's book was such a nice surprise.

This is a review for the duet as a whole.

I honestly like the premise... gimme all the taboo sibling stories. Though here the FMC and one of the MMCs are step-siblings, it keeps getting reiterated that they never felt as such from the beginning.

I understand that the stepbrother had and made him act the way he did but it took him too long to get on board, IMO. But I was rooting for the bestfriend MMC anyway. He was the bestest boyfriend and bestfriend. He was all in from the start.

I thought this book could have been a standalone instead of a duet if it just got edited better. Some things did not need to be repeated over and over again. But overall, I enjoyed reading it.

It was a struggle.

Im familiar with the author, mainly because of Jenn Bullard whom I love. Her work has been solid as I've read her own books before. However I struggled with the series. It was the age or content, it just didn't click. The strongest part was her association of Tobin's "sickness" and real life. It wasn't just this book. It goes back to Ellie's story. It's incredible frustrating because I can't tell you why I didn't like it. It just didn't click. It felt forced and unrealistic. These are kids. Kids! The story felt above them instead of about them. The weird part is yes, I got that their school life could happen and it's a lot more realistic than not. IT JUST DID NOT CLICK. I didn't hate it, I just didn't like it.

Good ending

This second book of A game of Love was really good. We really got to see all the dynamics of Lilly Toby and Bishop as they finally become a couple. Toby has a lot of growth to do in this book and he actually does the work very well. If you were expecting a grovel, you really won’t get it but again he does work on himself so it evens out a bit. Bishop is amazing as always. Just a steady rock of love and support. I would love a bishop of my own. And Lilly shows again that really not staying true in yourself and grueling believing in their relationship is the solid foundation that they need.

This duet was soo freaking good!! I’m thrilled got to ARC read another book for Alisha!! Her writing flows so well and I swear it makes me read in hyper-speed!! The growth of the relationships between the first and second books was soo good. I loved how she handled the Toby and his journey. As well as Lily and her finally demanding what she needed!! Toby, Bishop, and Lily were LEGIT inevitable! The only thing standing in their way was them! The one thing I’m sad about is that it’s over.. now what am I supposed to read!

“I choose us. Always. Forever. Us against the world.”

This book was everything that I needed! It was full of love, some doubt, steamy scenes, and even some scenes that had me full on laughing. I didn’t want to put the book down but I also didn’t want to finish it and be done with these characters.

I absolutely loved Lilly. She is so strong, fights for what she wants, and is a true friend. I love Bishop, but Toby completely stole my heart in this book. He is definitely a character that will stick with me.

I loved all the scenes with Lilly and Toby’s parents because I was so happy to return to my favorites from the SVU series. This book had so many characters that just stood out that I’m hoping for some spin-offs and I would love an extended epilogue with Lilly, Toby, and Bishop.

This was such a sweet and fun read! I love the dynamics between Bishop, Lilly and Toby. Especially once Toby starts coming to terms with sharing. Toby is more angsty, and Bishop is like his sunny counterpart, which makes them a perfect set! There were some definitely steamy moments that had me fanning myself, and one that had me laughing a little at the timing. Also the wedding scene...almost had me tearing up. I love how Toby decided to make it public, and it fit them perfectly. Bee is such a funny side characters, and I love how supportive she is. Such a great read!

LOVE IS ALL THEY NEED

The second book of A Forbidden Game Duet is in a word, beautiful. The love and loyalty from these characters towards each other is captivating and enjoyable to read. With initial angst from the ending of Book 1, the reverse harem relationship can only grow and evolve into something beautiful. I loved the dynamics, the banter and how despite their challenges, there is acceptance. When all is said and done, this story is at it's heart a love story and the writing from Alisha Williams shows that love is all that is needed.

Oh my gosh , these 3!!! I adored the SVU series with the first generation, and this was just the cherry on top! I love love love all of these characters and “watching” the kids grow and experience life and love, and all the messy stuff has been such an experience!
Being very familiar with a mental health journey , I truly felt for Tobias and all he struggled with. The author did an amazing job making his angst truly palpable on and off page.
Always all the emotions and spice with these books , and despite being sad it’s over, I devoured it!

So sad to see this duet end! I would have loved to see more of these 3 together. Bishop and Toby were so funny together once they over came their problems. (And they definitely worked well together in the bedroom!) I would have also loved to see Toby’s therapy appointment but I am glad he faced everything and dealt with his mental health issues. Fans of this author’s SVU series definitely won’t want to miss this duet! I loved seeing all that crew as parents. Would definitely enjoy more books like this from this author- high heat and lots of angst!
