Trafficked: Two Sisters Lost

Rate this book
San Diego may be known as a place for its beautiful beaches, mild weather, and year-round outdoor lifestyle, but the FBI has also identified the city as a high intensity child prostitution area and a gateway for international human trafficking. "Trafficked: Two Sisters Lost," is the story of two vulnerable young sisters, separated from each other, sexually exploited, suffering from inhumane living conditions, and confronted daily with physical and emotional abuse. Erin, a part-time journalist with a weekly newspaper in the San Diego area, is assigned a task to write a series of articles about the brutal industry of human trafficking that, depending on the source, is the second or third most profitable criminal activity in the world. In doing so, she not only becomes aware of the magnitude of the problem, but becomes deeply involved in the efforts to rescue and reunite the two lost sisters.

Two lost sisters, definitely.

The author did not exploit the children, whether real or a composite of several, to tantalize the reader. The object, I believe and what was accomplished, was a straight forward telling of the horrors of trafficking children, young vulnerable children by people who think of only making money with a product. I can't imagine kidnapping, being sold over and over again, without any of the Perpetrator thinking of the human side of the victims. So many lives ruined, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles etc. If the criminals are not punished while on earth, may they burn in hell for all eternity. A real problem shown to have advocates and dedicated people to end this hell for these victims of human trafficking. Thank you Lois Kenna Tripodi for telling the Carla's and the Serrena's stories.

Worth the tears

A heartbreaking fictional story. One that could so easily be the untold truth of so many young girls trapped in the disgustingly lucrative sexploitation of young girls. More writers could take a cue from this author who writes about what others can do to help put a boot to the face of human trafficking. Great characters, great story line and a brilliant angle at which to approach this ever growing problem in the US that so few seem to be acknowledging much less talking about. Well done.

Such a profound story

What words can I say about this book that would even describe the emotions I experienced reading it. I am a native of San Diego . Born and raised in the core of this story. I never knew that this life even existed . THANK YOU for shedding light on such an important topic. We need to put these people behind bars! It is true when we see those billboards
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING! Do not turn a blind eye. These kids need someone to care enough to help. We can move mountains UNITED!

My review of this book

I really liked this book..It was believable. I liked that the author did not get to graphic . I have ( started many human trafficking books) all written by men who demoralize the women by saying the women's body betrayed them by having an orgasm...That would would never happen in real life. It's just the men's fantasy. This Book is good I'd rec it to anyone who wants a good read..

Lots of holes

This book seemed interesting. It quite often hinted at Mike's involvement or somehow relation to the Carla and Serena. At the end, there was just a sudden drop that simply kills all of those plots and leaves many questions unanswered. Overall, a decent read, but it felt too rushed with no real ending and no closure.

Exelent!

I now know what to look for where children are concerned. I will never take life for granted ever again. I hope many others will read this book so they too may be able to make a difference to someone, someday.

Sad

Very well written. I could picture the places the characters were at as they were being described by the author. The things that the sisters went through was horrific and sadly based on reality.

A very well written book with a compelling story. I really wanted to give this 5 stars because it really was so brilliant, and I was drawn so much to the two sisters, Erin and their fight, but I just found the ending so gut-wrenching and painful.

This book talks about real life occurrences that we all turn a blind eye too. We should all do more for the Carla's and Serena's in this world!!
