Arcane Cultivator is a deckbuilding cultivation LitRPG series about an underdog cultivator taking on the gods against overwhelming odds. It is set in the Four Kingdoms of the Sagaland, a world rich with lore from Harmon Cooper, bestselling and award winning author of Pilgrim, Cowboy Necromancer, War Priest, The World According to Dragons, and LitRPG classic, The Feedback Loop. It is perfect for fans of All the Skills, Cradle, Mage Errant, and Mark of the Fool .
Harmon Cooper is the author of over sixty fantasy works. His bestselling series include Pilgrim, War Priest, Cowboy Necromancer, and Tokens and Towers.
His series, The Feedback Loop, is one of the earlier GameLit works first published in 2015. An earphone award winner for the series Death's Mantle, Harmon won the LitRPG/GameLit Audiobook of the Year award for Sacred Cat Island, narrated by Legends and Lattes author Travis Baldree.
Harmon write progression fantasy, cultivation fantasy, and LitRPG/GameLit.
The plot is barely existent, and the characters haven't really developed this book. The humor between characters is enjoyable, and I had a desire to finish out the series. In short average, ok enough.
Jaden has finally come to the last stage of the Gods tournament with the help from a few faces we get a nice bonding and character development. The shame about this series is that it works as a trilogy, but I would of loved to know about the sagalands as we already have two adjoining series set within this universe and so we meet so many interesting magic systems and beasts. The journey was a tale of great action, emotion and interest matched with cool art representations of the cards so we definitely need more of this type of writing. At present, I just have to put up with this satisfying conclusion, and perhaps we will meet them again in further series.
I really don't want to spoil this for anyone, so I'll only say that Mr Cooper's legendary storytelling, his rich world building and full characterisations are wonderful, as are Jaden's use of Arcane Cards, his training, fighting and cultivation skills. There's also a beloved character from another series involved. *squeak* I'm not saying who, but the blurb on Amazon will.
There is SO MUCH action packed between these pages that, if this book was a suitcase, you would need to sit on it to get it closed!
I loved how the nomadwater sect stayed together, both old and new. I really liked how they were able to talk to Caspian after what happened. The best part of the book was the artwork on the cards. They are gorgeous. I am very happy with the ending because after all that hard work surviving, they have a home.
Whoa, this book is so exciting and fast paced. I loved every minute of it, especially the cross-over and the battles in the third challenge. Super fun, and I definitely recommend!
I hope there are more books in this series. But it was a good ending to this arc. Does hint that there could be more. Do like the card system foe powers.
