The Blacks want to marry off their youngest child. He begs Sirius for help and tells him a secret: He is a man and would rather die than be forced to be anyone's wife. Panicked, Sirius arranges a marriage between his brother and his friend James Potter, knowing that Regulus can be the man he is in the English countryside on James' estate.
James wants to ensure Regulus' happiness, even at the expense of putting his life on hold for a while. Regulus wants to ensure James doesn't fall into societal ruin because of him. Sirius wants to be loved. Barty must decide whether he wants to keep causing destruction or choose redemption. And Remus is just a very tired butler who watches James and Regulus dance around their actual feelings (literally).
I love how understanding the main couple was about eachothers problems. Watching them learn from the mistakes of their friends' relationship trouble was great and didn't make me was to scream at them to just talk to each other. They all came out of this with their own happily ever after. And no one was sentenced to the guillotine (not for a lack of trying). 😆
This was positively one of my favourites muggle period drama AU. Loooooove it to pieces!!! Also, I felt I learned so many interesting things, I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s notes. I loved the plot, the angst and all the couples ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️this felt so downtown abbey-ish,with a sprinkle of jane austen, and beautifully intertwined skittles love stories. Obviously, Reggie will forever have my heart. I feel that the author did a great job portraying his insecurities, his thoughts and feelings. He is quite a complex character, in a delicate situation so it is hard to do an excellent job but I think she nailed it. I felt Reggie very close to me. I do not struggle with any of his issues but he was so beautifully written, so raw and real that I could not help but feel we were twinning. Perhaps, me and Reg both being attracted to James made me go “twin! Where have you been?!” I love every fic where Peter does not betray the marauders so I consider this a total win. Also, I am fairly angry with Sirius. He would never behave in such a despicable way to his Moon. I was utterly distraught and shocked. Beautiful fluff, I devoured it.
