A really good series for those who enjoy the world of fantasy and magic. It’s a quick easy read full of action, love interest and interesting storyline. The main characters are very likeable if a bit naive at times and flawed liked most people. The story includes Loss, grief, love, family, friendship, lost opportunities, new opportunities, danger, action, magic, togetherness and fighting for a good cause. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is actually a really good story and I would have rated it higher had it not been for some seriously annoying factors: 1. The female lead is weak & helpless and seems perfectly ok to remain this way. I am on book 3 and she has yet to grow a spine or catch a clue. Constant apologies, never ending crying - she's just pathetic and I refuse to read further...something should have happened by now! 2. Way too much inconsequential, irrelevant dialogue - you can skip 3 pages of a conversation and still not have missed anything of importance. 3. The male lead, if you can call him that, is so unrealistic and wimpy. There's nothing sexy about being a door mat with no plan to protect the "love of your life". 4.Despite the "serious danger" fast approaching they have time to star gaze and hike...really?? 5.The only one with any sense is Finley, yet he's the bad guy. But even he lacks conviction - kidnap her already, she's an idiot who will die if you don't!
Argh!
Yeah, I hope they all just get killed off so we can be done with it, there is no other realistic outcome to the series I've suffered through. Serious waste of 2 days of my life I will never get back.
This series a go to for me. I read it any time I’m in a slump or just have nothing new I’m interested in. I think I’ve read it 6 times. Get it. Now. You won’t regret it!
Blergh! Did not manage to finish it. I did finish the first book of the series. I tolerated the Heroine but her stupidity, whining and in general guilt-tripping took it out of me. I was tolerating the lack of sex in the book cause the first one made me cry, which never happens. So even though the Hero was WAY too perfect (men like these do not exist, and if they do, they really need to reevaluate their situation) I kept reading. Anyway someway inside the 2nd book the author totally lost my interest. Even if I found her view of magic and magic world intriguing, both the main protagonists left me cold and uninterested to continue it.
Re-reading this series so I can catch up and dive in to the newest releases. So far I love it even more. The re-reading of her parents story, I think will always get me. Self sacrifice for your child, how can you not shed tears at that.
Plus seeing the perfect Quin in his best swoon-worthy roll...HEAVEN Moving on to book 2 now.
Just a fascinAting story of witches and wizards.I could not put it down. fell asleep reading and started back into as soon as I got up.Excellent stories.Does need some editing Rhosewens grandparents are often referred to as her parent. A number of verb tenses are wrong. Hi I highly recommend this series!
This box set with the first three books in the series is a strong start. Enticing characters in a magical setting make this storyline one you want to continue reading.
I really want to like this series. The heroine is a nitwit, but her family are very interesting characters. I won't be finishing the series because it is predictable and some parts are just sex. I wish this were a more well constructed story and not such an insipid romance.
Following Quin and Layla in this series is an adventure! Well written the pace keeps moving and keeps you coming back for more. You fall in love with these two characters and be come invested in each new adventure. Definitely worth reading
