Your past stays with you. Peace doesn’t.

After coming to terms with his troubled past, Mason Black has found balance between his family and his career as a private investigator. For the first time in his life, everything is going well — until Chris Healy arrives at the office.

Three members of his family are reported missing, and Mason is hired to find them. But when a body is found with a message written just for him, Mason discovers the survivors were kidnapped by a man known only as Anarchy, who will stop at nothing as he forces Mason to play his twisted game.

Manhunt - Mason Black Bk 3 - Written by Adam Nicholls
Peace doesn’t always stick around even if your past does!

After coming to terms with his troubled past, Mason Black has found a balance between his family and his career as a private investigator. For the first time in his life, everything is going well - until Chris Healy arrives at the office. Three members of his family are reported missing, and Mason is hired to find them. But when a body is found with a message written just for him, Mason discovers the survivors were kidnapped by a man known only as Anarchy, who will stop at nothing as he forces Mason to play his twisted game. Mason Black returns for his final case, and this time he's up against a man with no rules, no morals, and no mercy. The end of the series is a home stretch packed with thrills and kills that'll have you ridden with anxiety until the very last page.

What did I like? Here we go again with an incredible, action-packed, riveting storyline and more awesome characters. Adam Nicholls has done it again and I’m losing so much sleep. These books are over the top and everyone that I have read are movie quality.

What will you like? Well written, researched and deep with twists and turns that is going to give you whiplash. Characters growing bigger on each page with the intensity building with each word. Mason must face so much in this book that just wants you to save him yourself. Time stretches, and Mason is fighting the clock every minute. You will start holding your breath for the big finally! It is really a great one. Borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.

Well, this is the third book in the Mason Black Series and what a rollercoaster it was!

Mason Black is an ex-police detective from the San Francisco Police Department who became a Private Investigator after the long and gruelling hours with the Force started to affect his married life.

A good detective who doesn't give up without a fight. His heart is in the right place and he cares deeply for his sister and daughter. Now with a new love in his life he still looks out for his ex-wife's welfare. Who could fail to like such a man.

Now estranged from his wife and, having helped the police solve two very nasty serial killer cases, Mason finds himself embroiled in yet another, but unrelated, case where an extremely brutal killer is specifically attempting to draw him in.

The killer leaves his signature in blood at the first scene - 'Anarchy'. The cases escalate and become even more random, gruesome and cruel The second case is called in by the killer himself. Yet, still, the police have no CCTV footage or clues that could lead them to the person calling themselves Anarchy. It is as though they are invisible.

From here on in, it becomes evident that Anarchy is Hell bent on getting Mason's attention - why? What, if anything, is the link between him and the killer.

An excellent, extremely grippping and, at times, terrifyingly brutal, crime thriller that will have you reading well into the early hours.

I can honestly and highly recommend this three book series. Each can be read as stand alone but, once you have started, you will want to continue to the end. And a surprising end it is, too.

Kindle Unlimited, don't remember offhand why pulled this on ku, may have been listed on my freebie sites and came to check it out so flagged it.

01: The Devil in the Detail 02: Captivity 03: The Salingers #1 – Keeping with Killers 04: The Salingers #2 – Running with Rebels 05: The Salingers #3 – Living with Liars 06: The Salingers #4 – Fighting with Fire 07: The Chase 08: Mason Black #1 – Hush 09: Mason Black #2 – Lady Luck 10: Mason Black #3 – Ruin 11: Mason Black #4 – Buried 12: Mason Black #5 – Blood Sport 13: Evie Black #1 – Black Out 14: Evie Black #2 – Black Widow 15: Evie Black #3 – Black Magic -- this included the 4 set of the Salingers, Mason Black 5 set, Evie Black 3 set, and according to the writer this collection is everything in one set.

This is also part of a 3 set, has 5 book total as a set possibly. 1 Hush is about a detective, a former detective, a P.I., and a killer who wants to taunt. 2 Lady Luck is about same detective/p.i., another killer, and more whole lot of trouble. 3 is about everything going well, until it doesn't, and another serial killer with a whole new set of issues.

I’ve loved all of the Mason Black novels and this was no different, an excellent read. I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the trilogy box set and asked what I thought. As with the previous two books of the series I’ve enjoyed them so much I also wanted to give them each an individual review. Mason Black is once again pitted against a truly despicable villain. This one doesn’t only not care about the carnage they’re inflicting but actively revels in it making this an even more disturbing nemesis for Mason Black, if that’s possible. Mason, although our hero, is not necessarily heroic. Sometimes he’s downright stupid but that adds to his character for me. He makes mistakes but he is under a lot of stress so some less than smart calm decisions can be forgiven.
Adam Nicholls covers the usual basic of spelling and grammar expertly. He also creates an interesting mystery. I really enjoyed this and naturally recommend it to any fan of mystery/action thrillers.

This was a very good story, although quite gory in places. This is the third book of this author I have read, and I must admit it seemed to follow the same scenario. i.e. Threatening the family of the police officer. It was well written, and kept you on the edge of your seat.
Short snappy chapters enabled me to get through it quite quickly, and before I knew it I was quite near the very dramatic end.
I don't know if there are any more of this series, but already it has been a very good bargain (99p for 12 books), all in the collection called 'Missing'. I think it contains several separate series with different characters. So I will be reading whatever comes next. Just hope the rest are as good as the last three.
Highly recommended

Mason Black’s newest case: looking into the kidnapping of a man’s wife and daughter. Soon after, a severed head belonging to the missing woman was found. It was the work of Anarchy, the newest serial killer on the hunt.
As more victims were suffering at the hands of this sick and twisted killer, Mason was losing focus as his own personal life unravels with his sister leaving and his daughter feeling neglected.

It’s another exciting cat-and-mouse game, and Anarchy had every intention of testing Mason’s durability.

Such grueling, action-packed tests. So many interesting twists and turns. A thrilling read!

Fast and Furious

This was one intense book. From the very start the story I was intrigued and kept reading. It was hard to put down. Mason Black sure went thru more then any real person could have. He was tested time and time again trying to save lives. There was some really gruesome details and awful killings but the end justified the means. Although I do feel that Mr Walker should have been found out in what way he knew Anarchy. I also wonder who Anarchy was to Mason Black as there had to be a reason why he was targeted. Great book for those who like suspense to the end.

This book was awesome like the first two. The plot was well written and well executed. The main antagonist was very scary and he did things I did not expect. I love the Mason Black character. I just hate that I have to wait for the next book to be published. I still don't like the use of Jesus Christ and GD. I like that the romance is minimal. I like the way the author writes and has presented his characters. I think the sister kind of frustrated me with her fall from sanity. Not sure how to put it without giving it away. I hope you read the book.

This book is part of a box set I have and it was a good read - number three of the Mason Black stories.

It was fast-paced and Black must find yet another horrific crazy killer. Good characters and plot with some action and thoughts and feelings...the right ingredients for a crime thriller.

Worth a look.

One star is one to many.

I understand hurry up get it done but portraying cops as bumbling idiots who can't catch a cold in December in Florida is just bull. Bad guys are not believable at all..

Mason Black is a great detective.

I wish there were more books in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Mason Black's world. The characters were solid, the motives were interesting and believable. This is what a good thriller looks like.

Another excellent Mason Black mystery!

The characters in this book are willing to do anything needed to catch Anarchy. There were many plot twists and turns. However, there is some doubt about Anarchy being killed. Looking forward to Book 4 in the series.

This is the third book in the series for Mason Black, a Private Investigator who helps the SFPD. This book was a very good page-turner.

The only drawback is, there's no information about the protagonist or the antagonist. It would have made the author a great one.

See me, but you won't catch me

A repulsive story of murders for no known reason. Killing was what he wanted to do everyday! Bring misery to all he could without being caught.

This one definitely made me feel like I was in some horrible part of the world. This particular "bad" person was really sick and terrifying. There were times when I did wonder how Mason was able to be up and walking around after the abuse his body took.

This is the end of this series for now as I noticed the author has added two more upcoming. I think I will take a rest and look for something not quite so gory as my next read.

This is the 3rd book in the Mason Black series (which is also available as a 3 book set) and sees Mason struggling with personal relationships following his actions in the first book.
n
As well as trying to repair some of the damage he caused Mason is also asked to help find kidnap victims which escalates into another psychopathic killer trying to get to him. The police department ask for his help and he is offered his old job back which leaves him trying to juggle many major decisions at the same time as trying to prevent any more people getting hurt or murdered.

The book is gripping I found it very difficult to put down and the characters are developing with each book.

I love this series and am hoping for many more in the Mason Black series.

Book 1 in a spin off series featuring Mason's sister, Evie, has just been released and there is also a novella named The Chase which introduces new characters I think we will be meeting in future books
