Imagine this beloved feminist icon became the object of a sexy alpha billionaire's obsession. (Yeah, I hear you snickering. Just humor me for a second, okay?) How likely is it that she'd be down for ANYTHING he had to offer, however attractive, luxurious, or O-inducing, least of all a position as his kept fuckpuppet? I happen to believe she'd find the mere suggestion appalling and continue on her shouty way. Bringing Out Her Bad author Blair Butler believes she'd fold as effortlessly as a Dollar General lawn chair. Because who needs principles--which aren't actually your principles anyway--when there's caviar and dick to be had?

I'm reminded of my favorite movie of all time, Dangerous Liaisons:

"...I have no intention of breaking down her prejudices. I want her to believe in God and virtue and the sanctity of marriage and still not be able to stop herself. I want the excitement of watching her betray everything that's most important to her."

No kidding. At least that would give us some real conflict to work with.

The conflict that opens the story is a climate rally at the headquarters of Ravenscroft Enterprises, a company that fracks the ocean floor. Yeah, I'd have a problem with that too. I have a problem with anything that poses a risk to otters. Heroine Ivy spends most of this scene thinking about her scumbag ex Jeff, who's one of those performatively left-wing and secretly misogynistic dudebros who makes all male activists suspect. She also thinks about how hot and big-titted her BFF Becks says she is; she disagrees, no matter how many leers and catcalls she attracts.

Even so, she ends up sharing a joint with some guy in the crowd and letting him finger her right there. I've never smoked pot. Does it make people horny like this? Whenever my husband took a few hits on Game of Thrones night, he was much more interested in crushing a Baconator and a loaded baked potato than me.

A few explosions ensue, including the one in Ivy's pants, but another has the crowd churning enough for her to hit her head on the curb. Here's who helps her up:

He's clean-shaven and has what looks like an extremely expensive haircut. Some people might be fooled into thinking is clothes are ordinary--jeans and a crisp white T-shirt--but even in my fugue state I can recognize their designer labels.... this man looks like a veritable superhero, all pristine clothes and huge biceps.

Ah, yes, it's Item #D2501, Kindle Unlimited Eight-Pack Shirt-On Sexy Alpha Billionaire, approximately 220 pounds, package size 6.5-8.8, offering maximum bed coverage and a highly satisfying bite. I'd offer you the full spec sheet, but you've read it many times.

Ivy wakes up in his "really posh hotel room." She banters with the dude about whether or not he's a kidnapper. (He took you to a private and unfamiliar location while you were incapacitated. YES. HE IS.) But he did have his personal physician check her out, and he's so magnetic that she can't be bothered to worry. He says she's free to leave, but she'd rather not.

She imagines what Becks, also an activist, would say if she were around to offer an opinion:

"Yes, there is crazy chemistry between you and a strange man. Worse things have happened. Now just deal! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for what will probably be an amazing experience, so just chill the fuck out and ENJOY IT."

Uh-huh. We've all seen that sign at the Women's March. ANGRY WOMEN WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. MEN OF QUALITY DO NOT FEAR EQUALITY. HE'S A SEXY ALPHA BILLIONAIRE SO CHILL THE FUCK OUT AND ENJOY IT.

Ivy hasn't even gotten this guy's name yet, but she lets him stay in the bathroom with her while she enjoys the overpriced fixtures, the silk robe, and the Dom. He mentions that he went through her phone to identify her, look up her medical history, and tell her friends she was okay. "When he puts it that way, it seems less like an intrusion and more of a kindness."

He decides that since they've met, "From now on, you need protection." She objects, but mostly because she's too poor to be of any consequence. He fucks her into accepting his protection, and he's so phenomenally good at fucking that she'll probably never turn down anything of his again. That was the real problem with her ex, you see. He wasn't good enough at fucking for her to excuse his misdeeds.

He orders room service. Ivy thinks her activist soul ought to feel too guilty to eat a meal of this caliber when other households across Britain are living on baked beans. (It's Britain. They'd live on baked beans even if they didn't have to.) But the food is beautifully plated and tastes heavenly, so she can stop caring now.

This shouldn't be how it works. If she actually believes any of what she claims to believe, none of this would matter to her. She'd have marched out the door the second she woke up; called the police, or at least some kind of crisis line if she mistrusts the police; tipped off The Guardian about waking up in his hotel room after incurring a head injury at a protest; and staged another protest in the same place. A piece of buttered kalamata bread with sea salt and rosemary wouldn't make up for ANYTHING that's taken place thus far.

Damn, now I want some buttered kalamata bread with sea salt and rosemary. And some Pinot Noir.

We learn his name in chapter 11, because they're still in this godforsaken hotel room in chapter 11. It's Alistair Ravenscroft.

I hate the name Alistair. Always have. There's no way to say it out loud in a non-slimy voice.

Alistair has a brilliant idea: Since he and Ivy are getting on so well, she should stay in that room for the rest of the week, or indefinitely if she prefers. She can keep ordering from room service or use the in-room kitchen, and she'll have a key card if she wants to pop out to spend more of his money. Ivy ponders:

I could put my qualms on hold for twenty-four hours. Temporarily misplace my moral compass. But anything after that would be a... decision. Like a vote for the bullshit greedy consumerist opulent life that I am virulently against.

Until you see and smell that life and decide you're all the way in. We know how malleable your principles are, Ivy. Do you?

She earns a reward of new clothes, toiletries, phone, high-end yoga supplies, access to a chauffeured car, and an envelope of hundred-pound notes. Alistair insists he's not paying her for sex, just "looking after" her and making sure she has some extra scratch. With the implication of more sex.

Ivy goes to tell Becks everything. As she expected, Becks is crazy excited and encourages her to keep at it. Both of them claim to still oppose the concept of billionaires, but the execution of this particular billionaire included multiple orgasms, so they're BOTH suspending their beliefs today. If their ideology was any more of a con, I'd think they both grew up posh themselves.

The driver takes Ivy to shop for books. On Alistair's orders, she's not allowed to pay for any of them herself. She thinks:

There is an edge of guilt--or shame?--but I push it down. It's not like I'm with Alistair because he's paying me. I'm with Alistair because I want him. I want him more than I've ever wanted any man before. The money is just a big fat bonus, like his gorgeous face and chiseled abs.

All right then. Let's say he looked the same, fucked the same, and kidnapped the same, but his hotel room was one of those tiny dorm-like things in Earl's Court, and he fed you Tesco egg mayonnaise sandwiches. Still staying the week?

By the way, for the sake of contrast, let's hear about what Ivy's sacrificing:

I just feel different. More grown up, more assured. Even though I'm twenty-eight, I live like a student. I have that shoebox of a flat, I eat ramen and beans, and my interior design consists of hand-me-down furniture and thrift-store deals. I only buy clothes when I have to, and even then they're usually from charity shops. Being climate-conscious suits my budget and it's the right thing to do, but this rich, sophisticated life feels good too.

That wasn't being climate-conscious. That was being an activist and yoga instructor who lives in London. Move to Newcastle if you want to afford to be smug.

That night, Alistair takes Ivy to a rich-people sex club. They lick chocolate off some random woman together. Then Alistair fucks Ivy with a champagne bottle. A FULL champagne bottle.

The next day, Ivy thinks about her loving hippie family and her brother, Jamie, who has Down syndrome. He'll matter, or at least exist, later. Then there's more fancy dinners, more chauffeured car trips, and Ivy discovering she's super-into low-grade BDSM the first time Alistair surprises her with props. I suppose this is the culmination of the journey of sexual self-discovery he promised to take her on: the same destination as every other Kindle Unlimited heroine's journey of sexual self-discovery.

I can't tell what he's doing, only that he is stretching me wider than I've ever seen, and at the same time touching my entire G-area, making my bladder sing.

Her... bladder?

His strong arms make me feel feminine, loved, protected. Uh-oh, I think. Must not catch feelings. Must not catch feelings for the bad billionaire. But I'm not that naive. I know it's already too late.

You certainly are that naive, Ivy. You've been that naive for the whole book.

She does put her foot down when Alistair insists on taking her to a particular sushi restaurant. She can't bear to consume fish flown in all the way from Tokyo. That's her deal-breaker? Alistair speculates that she isn't actually committed to anything, merely "swept along" by her parents and BFF.

Ivy gets indignant. Alistair decides she's "scared because [she] know[s] [they're] meant to be together." IT'S BEEN LESS THAN A WEEK! She thinks about all the traumas that Alistair has made her forget: Jamie's medical history, a physically abusive preschool teacher, a pussy-grabbing uni lecturer, Jeff... Yeah, she hasn't actually dealt with any of this. She just found a distraction.

Becks's opinion of the situation has changed. She's received a tip that Alistair has some kind of mafia connection. They throw around the term "mob boss," but I doubt an actual mob boss would operate a billion-dollar company under his own name. Why do you think Comley Trucking or Barone Sanitation or Essany Scaffolding weren't called Soprano Trucking or Soprano Sanitation or Sacrimoni Scaffolding?

Alistair reveals that his security team has thwarted three attempts on Ivy's life, all nearly perpetrated by Jeff. He vows to protect her from whatever Jeff has planned. A few minutes later, Becks passes on a warning from the very douche, implying that he's holding Jamie hostage. So she bails on Alistair and goes to deal with it by herself.

FOR GOD'S SAKE! If there's ever been a time to suspend your values and avail yourself of a sexy alpha billionaire's resources, this is it!

Jeff is indeed in Jamie's home. He declares he's come to "save" Ivy from Alistair. If her choices are a mobbed-up billionaire and this guy, forget what I said about Newcastle: Move to a different continent, girl. Jeff reveals that he either murdered or knocked out Jamie's part-time carer, and he also planted the bombs at the protest so he could come rescue Ivy. Thankfully, she's not so naive that she buys a word of his promises for their "new life" together, but she pretends she does just to keep him calm.

It doesn't work. Once Jamie is out of the room, for no apparent reason, Jeff slams Ivy on the floor, holds her at gunpoint, binds her with duct tape, and sets the property on fire. All seems lost until...

Jamie's fine, Lorna ought to be fine after some treatment, and Alistair intends to keep Ivy for the foreseeable future. She's cool with that:

I push down the knowledge I have of Alistair being involved in organized crime. I find it easy to be in denial about that, because I've only ever seen him like this: warm, generous, funny, delicious. Violent criminals don't act like this. Mafia kingpins don't hire trauma counselors for their mistresses and their extended family. Mob bosses don't bring their damaged women ice cream in bed.

They also don't look like him. Or eat pussy. But he does send his goons to kill Jeff and discreetly dispose of the body, so... maybe?

This is just the very beginning of our story, and I've decided that I'll get to know Alistair Ravenscroft in my own time, on my own terms.

You do that, Ivy. Just don't come crying to me after he freaks out over a missing $40k from the birdfeeduh.

The was a first listen/read through of this author’s work for me! I’m a fan of the genre and read it regularly so I knew this would most likely be up my alley. The audio was great - read in solo narration by a book accurate voice actress. It added more to the story for me & I would absolutely recommend it.
The story between the self proclaimed hippie, Ivy, and the billionaire boss, Alistair, was a little slow to start but the character building was nice. The spice was great - lots of variety throughout the book. I also liked the fact the author had disability representation in her book with Ivy’s brother, Jamie.
Overall loved the storyline & will be picking up book two when I have the chance!

my original faults are that it is just too far fetched but because of the a bit of a dark twist towards the end I thought maybe it deserves an extra star. I would have considered 4 stars except for the farmer that I've started the next one. I can't review it yet because I haven't finished it. I'm about 60% of the way through it and just struggling so much with it so knowing this is book one and it's a series and I'm having difficulty with, I just can't give it much praise.

and now after writing this I'm actually considering lowering it to two stars.

I'll have a think about it.

2.75⭐️ Too many contradictions in this story. Was Ivy an activist or just an opportunist along for the ride. She seemed to forget her beliefs while spending time with Alistair. I mean, who wouldn’t? He is sexy, rich, and very generous. She was enjoying everything that was Alistair. The fancy hotel room, the clothes, freedom to buy whatever she wanted. Not gonna lie but that is a pretty sweet deal.

Everything is great until Alistair makes a reservation for a restaurant that has been on Ivy’s bucket list. Alistair thought he was doing something nice. Instead, Ivy is being a huge bitch. She makes this huge deal on why she can’t eat there. Sprouting all of the reasons that completely make no sense. It was unethical, they ship fresh fish in from Tokyo every day, it’s completely irresponsible. . Give me a break.
Seriously, if I tried to surprise my husband with something he has been wanting to do and he pulled that crappy behavior, I would’ve just walked away.

Ugh…..anyway, the story was ok. The sex scenes were promising. I can definitely see where the author is going with the storyline. Not sure of the whole mafia aspect but I think I’m going to give book 2 a shot. If it is anything like this one then….We’ll see. 💁🏻‍♀️

PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!

This was unexpected in so many ways! Is this a steamy, spicy read? Decidedly so. What was unexpected was that I didn't expect the steam to fog up my glasses so soon. What was unexpected was that I wasn't expecting to be so immersed from the onset that I forgot to pee. Hell, I wasn't even aware I NEEDED to pee! I wasn't aware of anything except the magmatism this author leveled at me, attaching itself to every fibre in me.

Growing up with parents who had a social conscience, who protested against "the system", be that sending troops to war, racism, or big business destroying the planet, or any cause actually. Ivy is an activist, she has the need for fairness, rightness entrenched in her. Which is why she is at another protest, where a kind of mishap has her being rescued by a knight in shining armour, although, in this case, a knight in designer clothes. I'll take it! Oh boy, with HOW quickly things escalated, I'd definitely take it. What started off as a week long "arrangement", far surpassed that. Ivy got to "tap" into herself, to allow herself to forget about the outside world and all the correctness her activism demanded, and just be, just feel. It was really beautiful to watch, her grabbing at this fantasy with both hands, even knowing the bubble would burst after the 7 days were up. It spoke to an inner strength she wasn't aware existed. I loved the intensity of Ivy, her beliefs, her vulnerability and I really loved her teasing manner, especially with her best friend. Alastair is like a rare artifact, he's all shiny on the outside, he's rare on the inside and he can create magic that's explosive. And he does. Just ask Ivy...but I got the sense of a decent human being, possibly deadly, which just adds to the intrigue but one who knows what he wants, and that, unquestionably, is Ivy.

These words resonate with every woman who's ever felt desirable, "I love the version of myself I see through (his) Alistair's eyes" THAT feeling Ms Butler exposed so beautifully, it's as hot as heck! This entire read was as hot as lava lapping at my heels, I was fanning myself profusely. Don't for one minute think this is all about sex, yes, there's a healthy dose of it but it's way, way more than pure carnal desires and satisfaction. It's about fear of what she'd endured, the trauma she can't get past. The deep void that Ivy carried in her, is slowly being filled, by therapy. A different kind of therapy but she's able to grap onto what is wrong in her life, the niggling dissatisfaction, the feeling of being a failure and let go. Through Alistair's tender albeit earthshaking dedicated, Ivy experiences so much, her inner self, her inner beast is at peace, of SHE is at peace. Her words "He has changed my life in so many beautiful ways". But reality comes to kick her in the face ....

Secrets, desire, a touch of debauchery are what make this book so unputdownable, I read it in one go in a few hours. How these characters could take over my brain, surprised me, this can only be achieved by a very skilled author who set it up magnificently. I wasn't expecting the direction the plot went but by the time I got to THE part where Ivy's past catches up to her, I was hyperventilating. Ms Butler kept it light and spicy, oh so very yummy spicy for a lot of the book. She, very cleverly sprinkled clues that there was more than pure sexual energy behind Ivy, very sensitively handled but then she opened up the throttle, exposing Ivy's truth, laying out her secrets that truly shocked me! Alastair is still shrouded in shadows, his secrets locked away, for now.... one thing is crystal clear, he IS dangerous, he does have a life that's hidden from us and from Ivy but it's WHO he is, how he's portrayed as tender, caring, kind and totally smitten by Ivy which engulfs my heart with warmth. Ms Butler let me feel the conflicting thoughts and emotions running rampant in Ivy and she let me feel Ivy's despair as the week was winding down. These 2 characters, complex characters, both hide behind an impregnable barrier, by feeding each other with the utmost pleasures. A barrier I WANT to see behind, I WANT to pull it down and see Alastair for all he is.

Between the steam, the uncertainty, the way Ivy and Alastair explore each other, their needs, there's a whole lot of action. No, not only THAT action, really scary action that this author threw in like a grenade and trust me, when it hit, I was lacerated by the shrapnel! An incredibly immersive read, and hell do I need the next installment!

This was way spicier and more suspenseful than I expected it but overall I really enjoyed it!

Ivy and Alistair's story was an unlikely one and the way they meet was completely unconventional, but their chemistry and banter was on point from the jump. Ivy is an environmental activist and staunch opposer of consumerism and overconsumption, who gets caught in a dangerous protest where Alistair happens to find her and save her life. Alistair is the complete opposite of Ivy, being a billionaire and indulging in the finer things in life, when he stumbles upon Ivy in the aftermath of the disturbance and whisks her away to safety.

When Ivy comes to, she awakens in the lap of luxury and the both are instantly intrigued by one another. Their chemistry and attraction is palpable and the way that Alistair tenderly cares for Ivy and her injuries makes her swoon. Even though Ivy's integrity is challenged by indulging in Alistair's extravagant way of life, they strike up a deal, that she stays with him for 7 days and they explore all of her wildest fantasies. She throws caution to the wind and take the plunge into her most taboo and spiciest desires and fantasies. The spice in this book is so, so hot and there are still more things they wanted to explore that they never got around to before reality bursts their bubble.

Ivy finds out more about who Alistair really is, but when Ivy's past comes back and puts her in real danger, the feel and pace of the book completely changes into something of romantic suspense. The last third of the book encompasses a completely different energy and it was jarring to see how much the story line changes with their lives are now on the line. Even with the shift in the book, it was entertaining and Ivy was so relatable with her inner dialogue and witty comebacks. I could tell there are going to be more books and I'm excited to see where their story leads!

Emily Dugan was the sole narrator on this project and she was very good! The book is told from Ivy's perspective the entire time and she really encompassed the character well and carried those spicy scenes like an absolute champ! Wonderful performance!

Great Narration & Start to a Smoking Hot Series!

Bringing Out Her Bad
Blood Money Billionaire, Book 1
By: Blair Butler
Narrated by: Emily Dugan

This steamy novel puts a whole new spin on the opposites attract and the enemies-to-lovers tropes, with Ivy Mickelson, an activist standing up for the environment and Alistair Ravenscroft, a billionaire with his hands in things she stands against. When all goes wrong at a protest, it is he who saves her and brings her to his luxury hotel suite. Despite her knowing she does not belong in his world, she agrees to spend a week with him and it becomes an awakening for her. She does not really know who Alistair is, but her friend informs her and she is not know what to think. When her past comes back to haunt her and threatens a loved one, she runs to save him and confront her deranged ex-boyfriend, without telling him, but comes to her rescue once again. This is a great start to their relationship, a high heat, with a side of kink relationship with lots of hot loving, and it is also a great start to the series, laying down the foundation for their relationship and what it to come, including lots of steam.

🎧📚🎧 Emily Dugan did a fabulous job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who she was portraying. She did a great job covering both the male and female roles, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Setting the perfect tone for the story, Dugan captures the characters’ emotions, as well as their passion, and projects it into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to.

Bringing Out Her Bad
Blood Money Billionaire 1
By Blair Butler
Narrated by Emily Dugan

Are you looking for a mafia, romantic suspense steamy story? Blair Butler starts her Blood Money Billionaire series out with a bang! Meet Ivy, and environmental activist, the kind that is all about her cause and hates those with money. In comes Allistair, the billionaire opposition! Good looking, charming and has his eyes on Ivy. When things go awry at the protest, Allistair is right there to pick her up and nurse her back to health, in all ways. One night is enough with this man to get him out of her system, but when it turns out they both can't let that go, and she agrees to spend a week with him, all bets are off. But will the environment take the hit? Extra spice, a little suspense and a woman who learns what she likes, this book flies by. Allistair is quite the man and he gives her all she needs. Written from Ivy's point of view, this is one to enjoy.

Emily Dugan is fantastic and her portrayal of the characters in the story are spot on. Each one, each to distinguish, her take on them could not have been better. I loved her performance and will be watching for more by her.

Audio Review:

Blair Butler brings us an original spin on enemies to lovers and opposite attracts tropes. I love how it wasn't like many books I have read. Ivy, and environmental activist, is all about the cause and hates those with money, specifically billionaire. Alistair, the billionaire who can make a girl sing in the bedroom, has his eyes on Ivy. After a protest goes wrong and Ivy gets injured he swoops in to care for her. Quickly things change between the two and he convinces her to spend one week with him. Boundaries are pushed (sexually), emotions are dripping with sexual desire, and what Ivy thought she new about billionaire and what they stood for are in question to her now. I truly loved seeing how Ivy fights her conflicting emotions and the spice was phenomenal giving you so much to heat up listening to.

Emily Dugan was fantastic in a portrayal in each of the characters. The voices are clear and distinct allowing us to decipher each character and follow the book easily. She was such a great narrator capturing emotions, and really heating up the spicy scenes.

This book is about Ivy, an activist and part-time yoga instructor and Alastair, a billionaire who is possibly mafia as well. They meet when Ivy is protesting against Alastair’s company where she is injured he rescues her. Ivy stays with him in his posh hotel suite while recovering and afterwards for protection. Next comes all the romance and dirty delicious sex. Now, add in a lot more sex, some danger, drama, action, suspense, intrigue and family bonds which makes the rest of the book fly by. You will be on the edge of your seat during one frightening confrontation. Afterwards, Ivy and Alastair seem to have a lasting bond.
Emily Dugan was magnificent in her narration of this book. She portrayed each and every character perfectly. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook. I am anxiously awaiting book two.

Audiobook review: solo narration by Emily Dugan
4 stars for story / 4.5 stars for narration

Both the author and narrator are new to me and I was highly impressed. At the beginning, this seemed like it was going to be a typical fling-turned-more with an emphasis on open door romance, but it was so much more than that. I truly loved Alistair. He definitely fell first and hard for Ivy and it was great to listen to their relationship progress. The flow of the plot was amazing and entertaining with secrets revealed in a way that was surprising and kept me enthralled.

Not only did the storyline have me captivated, the narration was amazing. I don't typically listen to solo narration when given an option, but Emily Dugan was phenomenal. The deviation in tone between characters and masterful accents have made me an instant fan and I can't wait to continue this series on audio.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s #1 in the Blood Money Billionaire Series by Blair Butler! It left on a sort of cliffhanger, no surprise there. I was however pleasantly surprised at the moral dilemma the FMC has to wrestle with the entirety of the book. There was a great mix of that balance and acknowledging the importance of facing it as well as living in the moment. I can’t wait to see how it continues in book 2!

I really enjoyed the voice talents ability to take on the different accents and really bring to life all the conflicting emotions between characters. Thank you to High Gravity and Blair Butler for allowing me to listen to an advanced copy of the audiobook!

Bringing Out Her Bad is like a kinky modern spin of Pretty Woman except Ivy is a climate conscious yoga instructor and Alistair is a little morally grey. . .
How many of us dream of being whisked away by a gorgeous billionaire who wants to help us explore our own sexuality?!

Emily Dugan was a brilliant narrator and such a pleasure to listen to! This was a fun, erotic listen with a dash of intrigue and a suspenseful ending that will have you on the edge of your seat till the very end. I can't wait to read book two!

This couple seemed to have more of a physical attraction than an emotional one initially. Would like to see how their relationship evolves throughout the series. Ivy (FMC) is an environmental activist. Allister (MMC) is a billionaire who represents all she dislikes. The suspenseful elements really peaked my interest as we get to the second half of the book.

Story continues in book 2

This is the first installment in the Blood Money Billionaire series. Ivy and Alistair's instant attraction romance is passionate, filled with intrigue, drama, danger, and twists and turns. The chemistry is sizzling hot. They are opposites attract. Alistair, a billionaire, is enigmatic and powerful. Ivy, an environmental activist, is naive, and determined. Emily Dugan did a good job bringing this story to life. She has a beautiful voice. The story will continue in Good Girl Turn Bad, the next installment in the series. #HighGravityProductions #ALCReview

4 Star Review Bringing Out Her Bad (Blood Money Billionaire #1) by Blair Butler

Audio
This is Alistair and Ivy’s story and it was an opposites attract story and the first in the series.

Both the author Blair Butler and narrator Emily Dugan are new to me. Well written, the narrator did a good job brining the characters and story to life. Although I do prefer a make narrator for the male roles.

There were a number of twists and turns as the story progressed and moments where I was on the edge of my seat whilst listening.

✨️ Check trigger warnings ✨️

I am normally not someone who listens to single narration. I like there to be multiple. However, Emily Dugan did a great job. She really brought out the characters. The MMC Alistair the billionaire sweeps Ivy off her feet. The attraction is instant. This is also one of those books that is a "touch her and die" books. There are some twists and turns and in the end it is a HEA.

Audiobook Review of Bringing Out Her Bad, written by Blair Butler and narrated by Emily Dugan.

Book - 1 of the Blood Money Billionaires series - Bringing Out Her Bad:

The book starts with the FMC, Ivy, who is an activist, attending an environmental protest against fracking outside the London HQ of Ravenscroft Enterprises. She is enjoying a little broccoli and spicy daydream about the guy she shared a smoke with when suddenly there is an explosion and Ivy falls in the chaos of people trying to run.

Enter the MMC, a handsome well-dressed stranger who picks her up and rescues her from the stampede.

Ivy wakes up in a very posh hotel room with the handsome stranger sitting and watching her. They talk and he offers her a pretty woman-style proposal - stay in the room and be 'mine' for a week. Ivy agrees after imagining what her best friend would tell her to do, which she does quite often.

The MMC turns out to be Alistar Ravenscroft, owner of (you guessed it!) Ravenscroft Enterprises.

The book follows Ivy and Alistair through the week of their arrangement. There is LOTS of spice in this book! It is told completely from Ivy's perspective, hence the single narrator, Emily Duggan, who gives an absolutely fantastic performance that I really enjoyed listening to.

4.5 smutty smutty stars. I love a book with just a little plot thrown into all the smut. did I think things jumped SUPER fast in bed, holy crap yes. but overall I really enjoyed this book.

my thoughts while reading...
I'm glad they acknowledged the pretty woman feeling.

I love the banter! Its normal.

"You know nothing Jon Snow".
Ahahahaha I love it!

Not sure I'll be able to look at a champagne bottle the same way ever again

Steamy awesomeness. Exploration of desire has never been so hot.

When opposites attract like Ivy and Alistair, it's tantalising, to say the least. Modern hippie meets billionaire and sexual discovery ensues. Throw in a violent ex, and it all gets very explosive.

I can't wait to see what's next for our duo 😍

Bringing out her bad (book 1)

I nearly put this book down as it was really slow to start. It was only past the half way mark it started to pick up. I think you realized there was more to Alistair than he was letting on. I loved that Ivy made her own mind up about him and did not make her friend influence her. On to book 2

Feels like this is what fifty shades wishes it was; holy shit. There's not a ton of plot, but there was enough to make a tear run down my cheek towards the end. I'm still not 100% sure why he took such a liking to her & how he was just magically there at the beginning, but it seems like they have much more to learn about eachother, so maybe we'll find out in the next one.

Did not finish.

Stopped at 28 percent. It's tinoo slow for me. Ivy says she doesn't like billionaires and their lavish lifestyle. But she accepts Alistair 's expensive gifts and stays in an expensive hotel room at his expense. If you like Pretty Woman, you'll probably like this.

Good read

I enjoyed it, apart from how it was supposedly based in London. Despite them saying they live in London and mentioning a few places in London, it wasn’t very British at all. I get the impression it was written by someone who doesn’t know London well and it seems like very little effort was made for that part of the story. I just brushed over that and ignored it.

Blair Butler's debut novel is hot hot hot!

Full of steam, with a real person for a heroine, a rather down to earth billionaire, and a heart racing plot, this book has it all.

And the best part? Book two will be out soon!
