★★★★ 1/2
Wow, just when I thought things may settle down for Lee and Kyle, I was wrong. Fall On Me is a another whirlwind story of ups and downs for these two amazing characters.
Things are different now with Cam gone. Lee is working on getting healthy, and grieving for her best friend, and Kyle is afraid to let Lee or Hope out of his sight. Derek is a complete mess, and I loved that Chloe Walsh allowed us into his head as well in this book.
Kyle is doing everything he can to not have to have Lee get up on stand and testify against Rachel for the things that she has done. He's also quite pushy with Lee about reconnecting with Tracey and understanding her reasons for leaving so many years ago. Lee and Kyle fight A LOT about this and I didn't understand why Kyle couldn't understand why Lee wanted nothing to do with the woman who left her behind so many years ago. I loved the turning point when he finally understood when things came to blows with his jerk of a father.
Seeing Lee and Kyle fight most of the battles in this book together rather then separately was awesome. The love these two have for one another is a beautiful thing to read and I really want these two to end up happy. All of the things these two have been through is more than anyone should endure in a lifetime, but it solidifies their love for one another.
My heart hurt for Kyle in this book. He was trying to protect his fiance, his daughter, run a business, deal with his father, and make sure his best friend didn't end up hurting himself as well. He has so much on his shoulders that I'm surprised he didn't crack. The love he has for Lee shows in this book and even though he may push her out of her comfort zone a lot, you know it's only because he loves her so much. The way he tries to help Derek throughout this book was admirable. He knows his friend is in pain, but doesn't know how to help him, so he's there for him anytime Derek needs him.
My heart actually broke for Derek in this book. He isn't handling Cam's death well, and he is just losing himself in the grief. He is just a shell of the Derek we all loved in previous books, but I was happy to see him starting to come around towards the end of this book. I hope and pray that one day Derek gets his HEA, but I'm not sure how he will since the love of his life is now gone.
So much happens in this book and I can't wait to read the final book to see how everything plays out for these characters. Lee's father is back and I know he's going to be causing all kinds of problems for her, and I'm still curious about the things that Rachel mentioned in her letters. I have a feeling who "he" is but I am not sure, as Chloe Walsh keeps throwing me for a loop in this series. There is also the matter of the Prologue in which we got a glimpse of Cam in her last few minutes, and I need to know what it was she left for Derek that night!
