This book is a non-fictional story about the author's life experiences about the hauntings of the paranormal world and how it affected her and her clients' lives whether if it's ghosts, spirits or demons in her short stories. And how it can be crossed over to the light. Parts of her short stories, some of the crossing-over technique were unsuccessful due to unexplainable events. I give this book 5 stars.

I just finished reading Stalking Shadows. It is a paranormal written by Debi Chestnut. It is many different accounts of paranormal sightings that the woman and her paranormal investigations team had to deal with. It takes you through the story of the event and the history of the place.

I found that this book was very interesting. It was an easy read. There were several stories that got me hooked to where I didn’t want to put the book down. It was captivating. I especially loved the back stories of each story. The author didn’t just tell the story about what was happening now. They went into some details of the history of the house or property that the story was based around.

There are a few things I don’t like about these books. One of them takes a notch off my rating. I feel that this book is rather overpriced for an e-book. That’s just my opinion though. Maybe I’m wrong, but it still seems high to me. There are also a few typos in my copy. Nothing really major. They are all overlookable. It’s mainly the price that bothers me.

I fully recommend this book to anybody who loves a good ghost story or two. It’s completely full of them. I really enjoyed reading this. I’m so glad I was given the opportunity! I dab into many different genres, but paranormal will always be my favorite. I’m finding that I really like the ghost ones the best.

Book Review originally published here: http://www.iheartreading.net/reviews/...

This is my second review of a book by Debi Chestnut, the first being How To Clear Your Home of Ghosts and Spirits. Whereas that one was a rather general guide about how to deal with ghosts, Stalking Shadows talks about the cases Debi Chestnut encountered over the years as a paranormal investigator.

Some of the stories were interesting, and the author didn’t just focus on the scary things that happened, or the ghostly encounters, but also mentioned the hours waiting and getting no, or almost no, results. Some authors never mentioned that, but it’s the reality of being a paranormal investigator. You spent more hours researching the case beforehand, and waiting for something to happen, then you spend communicating with spirits.

Other cases were not that memorable, and the author didn’t offer more information than could’ve been found online. If there’d been slightly more information, or research, or background story about some of the cases, then I would’ve enjoyed this book more.

An okay read in the true haunting genre. The stories come across as believable, and they’re not over the top. The writing is okay overall, but gets a little sloppy toward the end.

As a former paranormal investigator (over 14 years) myself, I really enjoyed this book. It brought back many memories of my own times spent sitting in a dark room for hours, just waiting for something, Anthing, to happen. I thought the stories Ms. Chestnut chose for the book were good and kept my attention. I really liked that she didn't only highlight the exciting parts of an investigation, but added in the parts where there are some investigations where nothing at all happens. I think people would be surprised to find out how often these things occur. Maybe it's a good thing that they don't, if they knew what was really out there, they wouldn't have a good nights sleep.

I received this book from Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley.com, Llewellyn Worldwide, and to Debi Chestnut.

Debi Chestnut is a paranormal medium and investigator who walks us through some of her most exciting cases. I really enjoyed this book. The author writes in a way that was straightforward, exciting, and believable. In my opinion, it is important that the author is credible and sincere in book about such a controversial topic. It makes all the difference. This was a quick read and it was fun hearing about each and every one of her adventures.

I highly recommend this book for fans of the paranormal.

Stalking Shadows is a collection of Debi Chestnut's paranormal adventures. Debi is a psychic medium in southeast Michigan and has had some chilling encounters with spirits still in this plain. While the book claims to be "chilling", I'd argue most of these tales are just sad...mothers losing their children, loved ones separated, a ghost that won't move on because he wants to protect his family home...heartbreaking. Sure, you'll have to suspend your disbelief for some of these but paranormal investigations are very personal. It's easy to write off some of this as creative fiction, but we weren't there so how much is true and how much was embellished? No one can truly say. I've heard Debi speak though, and she's shared some of these stories before so I tend to lend on these are mostly true occurrences. Debi writes conversationally so it felt like I was sitting across from her, sipping a Diet Coke and sharing her favorite haunts. So, believe it or not it was still a fun read.

This is the kind of book I think of as a palate cleanser - something lighter to read when I need diversion. It was interesting, with some nicely spooky stories and experiences depicted.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Stalking Shadows (releasing September 8th, 2014) is a collection of some of Debi Chestnut’s experiences as a psychic medium and paranormal investigator.

The book begins with a very visual prologue, which I enjoyed a lot.

As a whole, the book is entertaining, generally well-written, and achieves her goal of educating readers on the nature of spirits. However, there were some things that bothered me about this book.

First and foremost, the author is annoying at times because she is so repetitious. Almost every time she begins a new story, she reminds the reader that she is a member of the Black River Paranormal group. Not only is this annoying, it is insulting. Does she really think I forgot this in less than a page or so? She does this with Roger as well. She keeps telling the reader that he is the founder. Telling me once is enough. It doesn’t have to be repeated.

Second, she threw in some stories about cases she hasn’t personally investigated. These clash with all the other stories that are about her own experiences. If she wanted to include cases she hasn’t worked on, I believe they should have been in a separate section of the book.

Third, she makes some comments that were offensive and/or incongruous with other things she said. The one that stood out the most was in chapter three. I didn’t understand why she would say she it makes her smile that the ghosts were too much to handle and drove people away from her previous home. Why would she enjoy other people’s suffering? It’s sad people couldn’t handle living there for very long. I wouldn’t be smiling about that. What is she thinking? Score one for the ghosts?

There was another instance in the conclusion. After just telling us about a case in chapter nine where a negative entity physically hurt people, she says in the conclusion that there’s nothing to fear from spirits. I was like, “What? You just told us that some spirits are bad!”

I think this book needs a lot of revising before being published. For Kindle, the formatting was screwed up. I found spelling and punctuation errors. Also, there were some places where repetitive word choices stood out. I expect this, though, with an ARC.

Hopefully, by the time of publication, some of my present concerns will be irrelevant.

The book is about some cases Debi Chestnut and her team of paranormal investigators have encountered over the years. She is a medium who can communicate with the dead. Not a long book so very quick read.
I personally did not like this book. The info seemed far fetched in some of the cases and some of the hauntings I was able to Google the cases and get as much info on them as she gave. I do believe in ghosts as I have had experienced them myself as a bystander. However I don't think I believed much of what I read. Unfortunately I just would never recommend this, nor do I feel she has the gift as much as she claims. I may be wrong but in this particular book I did not feel it by the stories presented.

(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

Debi Chestnut and her team of paranormal investigators tell 12 stories of encounters with ghosts, spirits, negative energies and dark beings.

I did try very hard to like this book. I prefer these sorts of books, where there are numerous stories rather than just one, but this book defeated me.

It started well enough - the first few stories were interesting (if not particularly well written), but by the time I was edging towards halfway, I got the distinct impression that I was reading a badly edited script for a reality TV show. The prose got so loose that it was more of a detraction that I could handle.

I didn't finish this book.
