Melanie Barnum's Psychic Abilities for Beginners: Awaken Your Intuitive Senses is an inspiring read written in a friendly style. Her personal stories gave me confidence that she is an accomplished reader. She's so encouraging and enthusiastic, she can make you believe anyone can perform miracles! Best of all, her book covers a diverse range of psychic abilities. If you feel like you're not ready to perform the exercises in one section, simply read on until you find a section with which you are comfortable. I was especially enthralled by the references made to public, gallery style psychic readings, for which instruction manuals are rare. Barnum's book is a treat to read and an essential for the developing psychic's reference shelf.

Just like Melanie Barnum's other books, this book is a gem for anyone looking for help with the spirit world or who is interested in developing their own psychic abilities. Great book- well written and fascinating.

Before starting this book, I was aware of the term psychic but did not really understand the extent it covered. There are so many types of abilities. She starts at the beginning with the study of extrasensory perception, Nostradamus, and Edgar Cayce.
Chapter 1: What are Psychic Senses?
Chapter 2: Clairvoyance (Clear Seeing)
Chapter 3: Clairaudience (Clear Hearing)
Chapter 4: Clairsentience (Clear Feeling or Clear Sensing) & Clairempathy (Clear Emotion)
Chapter 5: Claircognizance (Clear Knowing)
Chapter 6: Clairgustance (Clear Tasting)
Chapter 7: Clairalience / Clairolfaction / Clairescence (Clear Smelling)
Chapter 8: Clairtangency (Clear Touch)
Chapter 9: Telepathy & Psychokinesis
Chapter 10: Combining the Senses
Chapter 11: Psychic Tools
The author provided exercises for each chapter that works a specific sense. She recommends using a journal to records them. The first exercise is a simple one. She asks the reader to remember the first time you experienced something happening that you could not explain. For me, I was in 5th grade and had a feeling of déjà vu. That was my aha moment.
She recommends students to imagine something if they are having difficulties with their intuition. This is the second time I have heard of this. The first time was from an animal communication instructor. The more I imagined, the easier it was to react intuitively. If you are interested in improving your psychic abilities, I highly recommend this book. It is the type of book you can refer to over and over.

This book was not only informative but the information was put in a very interesting way that was easy to read. I have read all of Melanie's books and will continue to as long as she writes them. This book is perfect for beginners or anyone that has any interest in intuition - which everyone should be interested in as it can only benefit you.
