About the author

I'm a 48-year-old child who has no plans to ever actually grow up.

I make my living as a paramedic, clinical educator, for a busy hospital system and work as a street medic in a 911 system.

In my free time, I serve as the director of the Boulder County Paranormal Research Society, and investigate claims of haunted properties, people, and objects on both sides of the Atlantic. I love to read, particularly SF/Fantasy, history and historical fiction, the paranormal, and basically anything that piques my interest. I appear on the TV shows Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, Haunted Case Files, and several others.

I am an avid video gamer, table-top gamer, and love to build Lego. My wife and I are the proud humans of five adopted rescue cats and one smelly but adorable dog.

Richard Estep is one of the best authors you could ever read if you’re interested in the paranormal. The amount of research & investigating he does for each book he writes is astonishing. He writes with such an unbiased & enthusiastic mindset with a researchers approach and he has an openness to the unexplained like no other. (Not to mention humor sprinkled throughout the book.) While he’s researching trying to find answers he never tries to sway you, the reader, one way or the other. He presents you with the facts he has & the research from his investigations to allow you to come up with your own conclusions. “In Search of Demons” is no different; he does this perfectly; traveling to locations noted for having “demonic” activity. He meets & interviews several people along the way including experts, paranormal investigators, mediums, witches, psychologists, writers & more as well as holds investigations at numerous locations. I particularly loved the Iowa mentions (since that is where I call home) & having the story Johnny Houser shared which I’ve heard Johnny tell in person. Plus the mentions of Malvern & Josh Heard. (Johnny & Josh are both great guys too.) This was a great read & really makes you think. A lot of people tend to jump on the demonic band wagon but as this book states & many of us as paranormal investigators have learned through the years…not every bad/dark spirit has to be demonic. If you were a horrible mean person in life wouldn’t it make sense that is how you would be in the afterlife? I don’t want to give too much away with this book but please do yourself a favor & pick up a copy. After you do that if you haven’t already please check out Richard’s other books.

This book was very interesting, informative, and with no underlying intention to make the reader believe demons exist or not. Although, I very much appreciated the author stating his beliefs. I have seen Richard Estep on TV, and admire his intent to inform the audience, so I wasn't surprised that this book has that same agenda. I wondered if the book would be dry, especially since I usually read non-fiction, but it was not dry at all. I had no idea there were so many different writings and lore about demons, which helped me lean more into my own belief of what they may be. I highly recommend this book.

I read a lot of paranormal books and one thing that stood out to me with this one was that it genuinely frightened me.

That along with I appreciated the author not trying to prove OR disprove if demons are real. He interviews a wide range of people, explores famous cases, lays out all the information and at the end it’s up to us the readers to draw our own conclusions.

I think that’s an approach I’d like to see more often in paranormal books.
