Join Leah and Jack as they embark on their most dangerous — and rewarding — journey yet!
For fans of Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and Dan Brown and James Rollins novels, this lighthearted yet intense thriller is fast-paced, action-packed, and will leave you breathless.
Am a fan of Nick Thacker from his Harvey Bennett series, so when I saw he was one of the authors of this series I felt I had to try it. And it was a very good decision. There are only two (hopefully more in the future) and I read one right after the other. I'm a sucker for any thriller involving art or archeology, and these books did not disappoint. I love characters who, while flawed, are not overly so and are believable and attractive (and not in the physical sense). Admittedly while part of the storyline in the first book was a bit much, the authors certainly redeemed themselves in the second book. Overall, thoroughly good reads, and hopefully there are more to come.
If book 1 was a mess, this one was a catastrophe. Wrong words, same phrase repeated just after a couple of lines, Leah’s name changed to Jo…. The translator became the impersonator.., in one part she was glad she had removed the SD card from her camera the next the SD card was gone from the camera. And at this stage I stopped taking notes as they were far too many and I just couldn’t stomach them anymore. Were the authors copying from somebody else’s book or is their proofreading as crappy as it shows in this book? The MC, Leah, continues to be a wet blanket until just about the end of the book and even do I’m being generous. This series could’ve been a good one if only the authors knew what they were doing.. Don’t bother to get either of these books. Waste of time.
Academic Leah Stone has long been obsessed with Cleopatra and her undiscovered burial place. Now she's determined to discover the eponymous tomb, new clues to whose location she believes she's found. Whether Leah can make good on her promise to herself and uncover the greatest secret since Tutankhamen's tomb was found remains to be seen, as others have different agendas that may not bode well for Leah and her team.
Follow the thrilling action in Nick Thacker and David Berens' The Lost Temple to see how the adventure unfolds - and tell all your friends!
I loved the story and the ideas it involves but there were so many inconsistencies from the first to the second book in regards to background material for the main character as well as retelling of previous events incorrectly that it really took away from the enjoyment. There were several occasions where the author called the main character by the wrong name and it made it hard to stay in the story. I will keep waiting for more books In this story but my finders are crossed for more responsible continuity and editing
The first book in the series was very well done. This book was a joke comparatively. The names of the characters often get mixed up, including the main character. Typos, easy spelling mistakes, and grammar that my 6th grade teacher would have had a fit over. I wanted to finish this book, but it was so difficult to follow without getting annoyed. This was a complete waste of money. To the author... Have pride in your work and get it fixed. This is not the only review that points out the flaws. Shameful
There are several name shifts: Leah is called Jo several times. Joanne has her name changed to Lisa. Is Blake an uncle or cousin? He was called both. Early on her camera is stolen but she had taken the memory chip out of it. When the camera is returned she looks for the chip in the camera the chip is not there, now it has been stolen. Lots of misspelling and wrong words throughout the story.
But over all I do recommend the book. It is a fun story.
Great read and exciting adventure! I know there is more to come for Leah, Jack, and Patrick. Please keep them coming. Small note: Better editing-quite a few errors. Once she took the card from the camera before it was stolen, then it was stolen, Lisa instead of Joanna. Use an actual person to edit! None of this takes away from the good read! But please let Leah find something!
While this was an ok book, it just wasn’t as good or as fulfilling as the first book. It went for the easy destroy the location, a development in the book that is an easy plot twist. And as an archaeologist I hate it! The endings was too abrupt and totally without resolution on it.
I found that this book was much better than the first. It was much better, and I was pulled less out of the plot by overlooked edits. Much tighter storyline. The characters were very well developed and the story seamlessly followed from the first to the second. Altogether immersive story. I look forward to the next.
Enjoyed the story greatly! Action packed and engrossing, just what I like. One criticism, whoever proof reads your stuff is not up to par. The lapses are distracting at best and requires one to re-read the section to figure out what is being said. But the story was most entertaining and held my interest from beginning to end! Look forward to the sequel.
This was an interesting story about the tomb of The Queen of The Nile Cleopatra but unfortunately there was to much focus on Leah's relationship with Jack I I had the funny feeling75% through that it was going to be continued in one form or another. lets hope the next concentrates more on the hunt as I do like these books.
A very good book that really pulls out the personalities of the characters. The book that has a great many twisted connections that leaves you itching for the next book. As noted by others, there was were some errors in the book that any good editor would have caught and I found myself having to reread parts to get clarity.
The story is pretty good, hence the 5 stars, but overall writing seems high school level. I'm hoping for continuation of the story so I can feel better about giving it full 5.
I enjoyed this book because it followed a structured story line that I found reasonable. It also explored more of Cleopatra 's history. I recommend it as an enjoyable read.
With the exception of some typos and changing the names of people in the book, the subject matter was great. The writer kept you interested and definitely entertained. A must read if you love archaeology.
I was amazed on almost every page as all of the thing happening to Leah, all of the happening to each page and cannot wait to read another one of her adventures.
Fabulous book again, these authors are really well worth reading. The story is well written and you can't help but keep reading even through the scary stuff...
