In 1988, five years after suffering the loss of his family, Stephen McCaffery, a former police detective turned private investigator, is lured into the eerie depths of rural Georgia, tasked with finding two missing girls. What begins as a straightforward search soon spirals into a descent into an ancient and unspeakable horror.
In this short tale of terror, follow Stephen as he confronts not only his inner demons, but those he thought unimaginable. Determined to find redemption for his past sins, he'll do everything in his power to save the lives of those girls, and by doing so, save his own soul.
This was an odd bit of a horror story that just went too quickly with no real details of what the place was or the "things" and it wrapped up too nicely for any real horror. I didn't NOT like it and read it in less than an hour while waiting on a doctor appt. So it's worth 3 stars for the quick read but I honestly WANTED more from the story which has just enough to keep me interested until the end that just sort of fell flat.
Great idea, but not the best execution in my opinion. A good little read and I enjoyed it. I would love to read this again if it was longer and the story was more fluid. I know this is supposed to be a short story but I feel like it needs more room to shine. This book is something I'm very into and if you like monsters then you'll like it too. Definitely worth the short read:)
Super short read that took me less than an hour. I really liked the premise and I feel there is so much more potential there for a longer and more intricate story. It just went too fast and I feel there were a lot of things just missing from the story. Overall, I liked it, but it left me wanting. Great if you want a quick read, but not if you're hoping for an in-depth story.
