I’ve never thought I would read any extra information and techniques in any other self-development books, and thought it is just a replica of this kind of books, but I was totally wrong. This book is one of the best and to-the-point books in solving the riddle of the Flow and the Passion mode. It’s ideas are well organized and really offer scientific methods and techniques to feel this wonderful state of mind and soul which is called the “Flow”. I am now grateful to this book and the author, and will look forward to read his other books.
I was originally going to rate this book 2 stars in an unfair culmination of the other books of his I read but I'm glad I came to my senses. I rate it 3 stars it's really an average book. Damon loves his lists, I don't believe I've read a book of his that doesn't have several lists, steps, and exercises for you to do. As an adult returning back to college to get a degree I left back as a teen. I read his books in hopes of discovering new patterns or habits that can get me on a better trajectory in life, but most of what I've read is pretty common knowledge except for a few tidbits here and there. I believe this book had more new ideas I've learned about flow, but again a lot is common knowledgeable like limiting distraction. a part I wasn't a big fan of was him expressing how getting into flow is this big spooky and dangerous boogie man (he brings it up at the beginning and near the end of the book) but then really only references being so deep in flow that you may have a coworker speak to you in which you don't even hear them and they may develop animosity towards you. That's the least of my worries, if they're an emotional bunch they can go be emotional elsewhere. That or being so deep in flow a fire may start in your house and you're completely unaware because you're so in flow, seems highly unlikely. Like I said pretty average book to me.
I have read Flow: the Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. The approach in that book to flow was more scientific and technical then the book by Zahariades. This book is more geared to the layman and will give you some useful tips to being more productive. My experience with “flow” is that it just appears. If I am involved with an activity like shooting baskets, it will just manifest itself. I don't necessarily have to anticipate or request "flow" to appear for me to experience it. Flow can be a mystical experience. Flow is a very pleasant experience.
No issues with the Zahariades book but I did not really learn anything new from it. However it is well written and while his instructions may not lead you to flow – – it may lead you to being more creative and productive.
جزء كبير من سبب تقيمي هو للترجمة نفسها اولا ترجمة العنوان جدا غريبه "كتاب الانسجام" و العنوان The Art of Finding Flow
Really good book! I'd recommend it to anyone looking to improve their day-to-day concentration, (productivity, although that shouldn't be the main aim as the author explains) and feeling of fulfillment. Like with any time you want to make a change in your life, you'll need to do your part, which is putting in consistent effort to change. Luckily the author also have 'exercises' you can do to show you where to start improving.
All in all, it's a great read and I'd encourage anyone to give it a try!
This author continues to produce books that are not only easy to understand but always include exercises and instructions that turn the concepts into practical advice. His books are more like instruction books, or workbooks, unlike some others that feel like a textbook. I enjoy his writing style and straight forward approach to topics like this. You would be hard pressed to finish this book and not pick up several tips that will help you live your best life.
This book is all about identifying, realizing and remaining in the ultimate momentum of Flow. The author takes us through numerous paths that lead to the ultimate destination- The Flow. Certainly a good read.
I had not seen this methodology before although I practiced (to an extent) mindfulness. I found it very pragmatic and logical on the concepts as well as implementation.
I have been read Deep Work and think this is a good guide to go along with it. This book will belongings into the flow of deep work to achieve your best work and be productive.
"The Art of Finding FLOW" by Damon Zahariades delves into the concept of the flow state, a mental state characterized by complete absorption in a task, resulting in heightened focus, productivity, and enjoyment. Zahariades, a renowned productivity expert, explores the psychology behind flow and provides practical strategies to help readers achieve and maintain this state. The book covers topics such as setting clear goals, eliminating distractions, and balancing challenges with skills to enter the flow state. It also addresses potential obstacles to achieving flow and offers exercises to develop this ability. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to enhance their productivity, creativity, and overall satisfaction in their work and personal life. Zahariades' approach is both practical and accessible, making it easy for readers to apply the techniques and achieve flow at will. Whether you're a student, professional, or simply someone interested in personal development, "The Art of Finding FLOW" offers valuable insights and actionable advice to help you reach your full potential.
