Juniper

Zade Patterson was supposed to be my enemy—the man who stormed into Cody, ready to take everything I love. But life had other plans. Now, the man I should hate is the one I can’t resist. His eyes trace every curve of my body, making me feel seen in a way no one else ever has. With our worlds crashing together, I’m torn between what I know and what my heart craves. Trusting him could mean losing everything… or finding the love I never thought I deserved.

Zade

I came to Cody to conquer, to take what I wanted and never look back. But Juniper changed everything. She’s curvy, confident, and impossible to ignore—everything I didn’t know I needed. Every move I make now revolves around her, and for the first time, just winning isn’t enough. She makes me want more—something real, something lasting. But can I convince her that I’m not the enemy… that I’m the man who’s been dreaming of her all along?

A sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance set in a small town, where curves and tension collide. Perfect for a mature audience craving a steamy, plus-size love story that will keep you hooked until the very end.

Firstly I would like to thank the author for sending me an advanced copy of this book.

Dreams and Desires is a romance novel mostly set in the small town of Cody.

● Our FMC is Juniper (I love that name). She is a plus-sized woman, who works as a baker by trade; but we only get to witness bits of that in this novel. Juniper isn't completely unlikable I can understand her stance on many things, given her past experiences. The betrayals she has lived through would make anyone weary of trusting anybody! But at times this woman came off as quite annoying. Some of the things she does, or says are confusing, and I could not relate. She was whiny, and way too hard on herself and others.

● Our MMC is Zade. He is a wealthy young man who works for his family's real estate company; which specializes in hotels & resorts. He starts as your typical billionaire only interested in changing the small town of Cody for profit, under the pretense of 'helping the locals'. I didn't like him to start, but his character grows on you as you progress through the book. Don't get me wrong, some of his behavior is a GIANT RED FLAG, but I find his stubbornness endearing especially towards the final acts of the book. I suppose I have red flags of my own.

● The romance in the book in my opinion was a bit sudden. I wish we could have explored more of the character interactions that would have gradually led to a relationship, and then love. But instead what we get is they hate each other then they are in love. It was like a sucker punch to the jaw out of nowhere. And Juniper, my dear Juniper I get you are insecure and mistrusting but come on vocalize that without being a complete child throwing a tantrum, and running off like one. I kept rolling my eyes at her because she was infuriating.

● The supporting cast. The only side character I liked was Juniper's brother Jacob; and maybe Zade's mom (who is in the book very minimally). Everyone else I for the most part hated. Brian, for obvious reasons, was the worst. Dominique although less infuriating was not likable at all. Juniper's parents were icky and horrible. And for the rest of the cast, I honestly didn't care for it.

● I received the edited (revised) copy of this book, and for the most part there were just minor negligible errors. The only one that was a little blatant was at about 60% into the book it should say "Jacob and his condition" since he's the one in the hospital, but instead, it says "Zade and his condition" Nothing world-ending, you can look past it.

MY HONEST OPINION:

Now you may think I didn't like this book, but the fact of the matter is that I did! I always enjoy reading indie authors, and especially when they incorporate Plus-sized women. I also loved that Juniper had a gothic aesthetic and enjoyed reading smut novels. It was an enjoyable enough read, and if you like romance novels I'd recommend you give it a try and make your own opinions on it. Happy reading everyone!

Name: Dreams and Desires
Author: Sephyrra

~ This is the third book I’ve read from this author. Now I notice that she always supports curvy women in her books!!! I enjoy reading books like this. Now in this book we have Juniper who has got shamed by her own town only for her to come back to support her ill brother. During her trip back to town she runs into Zade. He acts like nothing can touch him but he is wrong!!! Once he met Juniper everything changed… the love and hate relationship, the banter… just too cute…

P.s I loved the part that Zade goes into the bookstore and finds the TikTok smut isle 🫣😜

This book was beautifully written story set in a small town of Cody, Wyoming. A billionaire coming in to make a deal that the town hates. And a spit fire back in her town after years of running away. The town stirs up bad memories and this new man isn’t afraid of getting in the spot fires path. Bonus she’s a curvy girl like myself so I could see me in her. Because I’ve had the same experience as her and it hurts. I could feel her pain as I read. This book will have you swooning wishing you were trapped in the cabin also.

Zade is a grade-A jerk in the beginning—seriously, he had me rolling my eyes more than once. But then, out of nowhere, he starts showing these little moments of care and vulnerability with Juniper, and suddenly I’m melting. Watching him go from a stubborn, cold-hearted guy to someone who’d do anything for her? Yeah, I couldn’t get enough.

This was an entertaining story. This is the story where the characters get together and then there's a huge betrayal and trust has to be built again. The story is pretty predictable, but, again, entertaining. The only reason I have this book 3 stars because I wanted to know the characters more. It was hard for me to connect as much to the story because I felt I didn't connect to the characters. At times I felt the story line was rushed but overall good book! I would recommend it.

This was a cute, plus-size enemies to lovers story. Zade starts off being the bad guy in the end you can see why Juniper falls in love with him. Under all that macho man his a complete sweetheart who loves Juniper for who she is and won't let anyone mess around with her.

Sephyrra, Sephyrra, Sephyrra.

The Small Town Sweethearts series has been my favorite series to read this year. I was very lucky to be able to read Passion & Promises by her in January and RAN when I saw that Cora (a side character in Passion & Promises) got her own book in "Dreams and Desires".

First, Sephyrra really has a great gift for picking perfect titles for her stories. In this book, we get to read Juniper’s and Zade's story. I loved Juniper in book 1 and how she has this very feisty personality, being unapologetically herself in a room where she was constantly judged for her looks and shunned for her past. She didn't let the hate and nonacceptance of her family affect her as an adult. I loved her drive to fight for what she believed in and that Sephyrra really gave Juniper so much justice and strength as a plus-size character. The representation alone was a 5/5 for me. She makes her FMCs feel seen, love themselves in their skin and that really resonated with me so much with this series. Her heart of gold was another reason I loved Juniper. She loved hard and really cared for so many people, especially her brother Jacob.

Zade was a complete douche at times, but I loved the angst and built-up tension between him and Juniper through the story. Their banter with each other (especially when Juniper was being a sassy thing was HILARIOUS). The storyline really moved smoothly and the character development with Zade and Juniper was obvious by the end. They really brought out the best in each other once they got over the "enemies vibes". I really appreciated that Sephyrra wrote such a beautiful and realistic story with characters that really grew on you & showed that everyone deserves love and to be accepted for who they are on the inside, and not to be judged based on what is on the outside. This series will always be a favorite of mine and I hope to see Sephyrra continue to write beautiful stories with some of the best representation! :)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I Got an ARC, and Now I’m Addicted!

So, I was lucky enough to snag an ARC of "Dreams and Desires," and let me just say—my sleep schedule hasn’t been the same since. I was planning on reading a few chapters before bed, but next thing I know, it’s way past midnight, and I’m completely hooked. Seriously, this book should come with a warning: May cause extreme binge reading and unexpected swooning.

Let’s talk about Juniper and Zade. Juniper is everything I love in a heroine—smart, sassy, and rocking those curves with confidence. Zade, on the other hand, is the kind of brooding billionaire that makes you question all your life choices. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the banter? Priceless. They have a love hate relationship and I'm all for it!

And then there’s Cody, Wyoming—a small town with big secrets and even bigger drama. The snowed-in cabin scenes? I’m not saying I’d volunteer to be trapped in a blizzard, but if Zade Patterson were there, I might consider it. The tension, the heat, the everything—this book has it all.

What I loved most, though, were the moments of vulnerability between the characters. Watching them work through their pasts and find something real was just… chef’s kiss. And I'll be real.....the steamy scenes had me blushing.

If you’re a fan of romance that hits all the right notes—humor, heat, heart—do yourself a favor and pick up "Dreams and Desires." Just be warned: You might lose some sleep, but it’ll be totally worth it!

ETA: the author has made changes to the book since I have read it. I will go back and read it at a future date and update my review.

Gifted ARC

Relatable - age, experiences (neglectful parenting, not wanting hometown to change).
FMC - willing to stand up for what she believes in despite previous experiences and people letting her down / making her an outcast.

Genre - small town romance
Themes - neglectful parents, love, loss and betrayal

Juniper is a woman who has been repeatedly let down by the people who are supposed to be there for her most - her parents.
Zade is a ruthless buisness man who will do anything to get what he wants, including utilising a person Juniper knows all too well - Brian, the mayor of Cody.
Two worlds collide in this story of love, loss and betrayal!

Despite her past, Juniper rallies the people of Cody to protest against the construction of resort that will change the face of the town forever. In doing so she falls for Zade, the ruthless business tycoon, who uses and betrays her.
Can Zade win Juniper around?

This book contains a couple of plot twists, one of which I didn’t see coming. A couple of parts of the book have time jumps but it’s not clear and i did have to re-read some sections to realise what had happened.
The story felt rushed in parts but overall I enjoyed the read.

I’d like to see a follow up story about Juniper’s brother, Jacob.

He loves her fire and isn't afraid to get burned. - Zade and Juniper have a meet ugly that involves a near-miss pedestrian hit, yelling and a slap. Not the greatest introduction to your future love but it definitely made things interesting. She's back in her unwelcoming hometown to care for her brother Jacob. He's there to convince the town to build an unwanted resort. Each a pariah in their own way, you'd think they would band together. But as much as she doesn't care for the residents, she loves the location where the resort is intended. She won't let him destroy it. Zade is intrigued by the little spitfire who dares to defy him. He's a winner and will go to any lengths to have his way.

Betrayal and lies are the foundation on which their relationship starts. Juniper has major trust issues from poor treatment by the town in her youth. When their flimsy bond is broken, Zade has to work hard to regain her trust, camping outside her abode in the dead of winter to show his determination. An act of sacrifice will cement her heart in his favor, further demonstrating the strength of his love.

A slow burn to love with mild steam, this is a delightful story with great characters, betrayal from multiple sides, and an endearing HEA between two impossibly stubborn people.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Dreams and Desires, and I’m totally hooked! The chemistry between Juniper and Zade is just off the charts. The angst between them is so real….you know..it’s that slow burn that keeps you on edge, and I loved every second of it.
The ARC COPY watermark was a little distracting, I won’t lie, but honestly, the story was so good that it didn’t really matter in the end.
Juniper is everything. She’s plus-size, confident, and so easy to root for. Watching her stand up for herself and fight for what she deserves was inspiring. About Zade.. so yeah he’s a bit of a jerk at times but that’s part of his charm. He’s got that bad boy (bad man? He’s late 30’s or early 40’s)vibe that just works, and even when he’s being difficult…you can’t help but love him. I saw on the author’s Instagram that Zade is based on Michael Fassbender and Juniper on Nicola Coughlan..totally makes sense and I’m here for it!
I’m rating it 5 stars for representation. For Juniper, being plus size and petite.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

As a teenager Juniper was betrayed and ostracised by the people of her home town Cody and she fled to protect herself. She is now a thirty-something smart, sassy and curvy heroine but is feeling anxious about returning to Cody to see her brother. When she arrives, she finds that a place which is precious to her is under threat from property developer Zade and she makes it her mission to stand up for the town and thwart his plans. Zade is intrigued by Juniper, feeling drawn to her, and makes it his mission to get closer to her, but all is not what it seems.

This story is filled with angst as we follow Juniper’s life, both past and present, and her battle to fight the injustice which has been done to her. Her chemistry with Zade is raw and unbridled and they share some steamy and intense moments. There were times when I was overwhelmed by Juniper’s pain and I couldn’t see how she could pick herself up and carry on. Recommended for readers who like their angst by the bucket load, with intense characters and storylines which pull in your emotions and make you gasp with shock.

A Love Story for Every Woman Who Deserves to Be Seen

As the author of Dreams and Desires, I wrote this book with a mission: to celebrate plus-size women and their right to be the heroines of their own love stories. Juniper is a woman in her mid 30s who has faced her share of struggles, but she’s strong, confident, and unapologetically herself. When she clashes with Zade, a powerful billionaire who challenges her at every turn, sparks fly, and their enemies-to-lovers journey is anything but ordinary.

This story isn’t just about romance; it’s about passion, self-acceptance, and the belief that every woman, regardless of size or past, deserves a love that’s as fierce and fiery as she is. I wanted to create a world where curvy women aren’t just side characters—they’re the stars.

I hope this story resonates with you as much as it did with me while writing it. If you’re looking for a romance that’s as empowering as it is passionate, I believe you’ll find it here.

I really wanted to like Zade and Juniper. I liked Juniper at first. She was dealt a bad hand that took a while for the reason to be revealed. Then Zade came in. He was the bad billionaire who wants to redo the small town. At first he said Juniper was nothing special then he all of the sudden wants her more than anything. The jumps were jarring. Then the twist came and I was not throwing my kindle for a good reason. That's where the story went from 4 stars to 3. I never rate 3 stars. The twist was unforgivable and I let a lot slide because, hello, it's fiction, but this one time I could not. Then you add in why she had to come take care of her brother...what were her evil parents doing?? And her parents pissed me off. They were brutal. I don't think it had to be so brutal against Juniper. And Zade could have been redeemed but it just never took for me. I really wanted to like this story but it fell extremely short for me.

We meet Juniper in book one of this series and now it's her turn. After leaving her home town in exile years ago, Juniper returns to be with her brother who has advanced lupus. Attitudes toward her haven't changed much, particularly those of her parents. Juniper soon learns of the mayor's plan to develop the town's wildlife refuge into a resort and champions efforts to oppose the resort. Enter Zade, head of the company attempting to develop the resort. We also briefly met Zade in book one.

During the back and forth, Zane does something I considered DNF-ing the book for. I honestly didn't know how he'd come back from it. I was impressed though with his actions in the last 30% of the book.

Like the first book in this series, I recommend checking CWs and TWs. There is some heavy subject matter that these heroines have to overcome, but they do so and find love along the way.

"Dreams and Desire" is a fast-paced romance that delivers everything you would expect from a classic enemies-to-lovers trope, with an added dose of charm, humor, and heart. Juniper and Zade's story feels like a blend of a Hollywood romcom and a modern Cinderella fairytale. What makes this book particularly enjoyable is the quirkiness of its characters. Juniper is confident, plus-size, and refreshingly relatable, while Zade is the brooding billionaire who quickly learns that life has much more in store for him than just business deals. Their relationship unfolds in Cody, Wyoming—a small town full of unresolved tensions and old regrets—making the backdrop as colorful as the characters themselves. Dreams and Desire is a perfect read for anyone looking for a light, entertaining romance with memorable, modern characters.

Rating: ★★★★☆

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶

Dreams and Desires by Sephyrra is a steamy, plus-size, enemies-to-lovers romance that delivers on the tension and heat. Juniper and Zade are a dynamic pair—he's the confident billionaire set on taking over her world, and she's the strong, curvy heroine determined to stand her ground. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the slow burn between them keeps you hooked.

The story has its share of drama, and at times it does feel a bit like a roller-coaster ride with some over-the-top moments. But overall, it’s an enjoyable read, especially for those who love small-town romance with mature characters and a healthy dose of angst. If you’re into angsty romance with a plus-size heroine and an alpha male who finds redemption, this one is worth a read!

Juniper returns to her hometown…

…to find it on the brink of change. That transformation is being pushed by the bad-boy billionaire Zade. Juniper and Zade clash yet are drawn closer together despite their differences. Eventually, they become lovers and finally partners.

I had no qualms with Juniper’s character – she is a plus-sized baker with a false bad reputation. Zade’s arc, though, came across as contrived in places. His initial accidental encounter with Juniper is plausible, but his subsequent infatuation and how it clashes with his greed is shaky. There is also the matter of how Zade dodges his obligations for a week without having search parties sent after him. Still, Zade’s way of throwing money around to woo Juniper is in keeping with lovestruck billionaire behavior.

This wasn't as convincing as I wanted it to be. The book showed a lot of promise at the start. I felt like there would be a productive journey for both characters. Also the side characters didn't have any depth.

I found the banter between the leads fun at first but the sudden plot twist sort of brought Zade down. That would have been fine if he was able to convince the audience that he really loves the FMC.

Also the dialogues felt repetitive and the reveal at the end didn't do it any favour. I actually love reading small town romances because of the setting and the calm it brings. I wish I felt the same for this. I am glad though that the author didn't describe a certain event in detail and send through it albeit focusing on its intensity.

I give this book 2 stars.

That small town had Juniper flup duck and she really shouldn't have gone back. For a town AND HER PARENTS to hold a grudge for that damn long is actually diabolical and they don't deserve food. Actually, the plans Zade had should've went through. But I'm just a vengeful person and wish bad on everyone that does the same to the innocent. Juni definitely had Zade jumping through hoops though, and he needed to go through them a little longe in my opinion because he shouldn't have did her like that all for the upper hand in a town that is ashamed of her, that he never took the time to understand.

I went into this book with mixed feelings as I have been used to reading dark romances and this was definitely not that. I was thoroughly surprised about how the small little town of Cody pulled me in and I wanted to know more straight from the beginning. Zade and Juniper had me in shouting at my kindle about how stupid they were being and can't you see he loves you, you stupid idiot. This book made me feel like I was watching a Hallmark film and OMG I loved it when Juniper got her Pretty Women moment when she goes dress shopping. My only criticism is I want to know more of their life and do they settle down....don't just leave me with them telling their friends their engaged 😶

This book completely sucked me in—I couldn't put it down and ended up reading it all in one night.

The characters are relatable. I really admired Juniper’s strength, especially given her past, and her fierce love for her brother. Zade was a bit stubborn, but underneath that, he was incredibly loving and selfless when it came to Juniper. I even cheered on another relationship between two other characters (you will too!)

Even though I saw it coming, chapter 30 hit me hard and I was definitely crying at 3 am!

What I loved most was how Juniper and Zade both had to face their pasts to figure out how to move forward together.

The setting was super cozy too—perfect for a holiday read!

Warning! The betrayal twist towards the end was very shocking! Without giving any spoilers, expect to be punched in the gut and slapped in the face with the revelation! Speaking of face smacks.. our girl sure likes handing them out and girl! I'm here for it!.

i think the author tried to add in every cliche line in this book yet once again i ate it tf up! this book was written soooo much better than the first again not the best book ever written but the corniness and dramatic ass plot reeled me in. i swear i was SO close to throwing myself into this book and beating zade until he couldnt breathe, but the grovel was good not amazing but still met my needs (just barely). if i ever see junipers parents, brian orrrrr dominique i hope they’re ready, mark my damn words!!

I love that this author has a track record of representing curvier women in her books! This is such a cute story and I loved every minute of it! I definitely wouldn’t mind getting stuck with Zade during a snow storm. The growth of these characters through being vulnerable with each other is like a breath of fresh air. I really wanted to dislike Zade but i just couldn’t! Definitely a must read!.

The writing's great, effortless to immerse in Juniper and Zade, There are great lines and atmospheric descriptions. I love Juniper's confidence and that Zade's so believable. The tension, then wanting them to get together, and the heat when they do, hits all the right notes. Page-turning fun for romance fans, especially if you like enemy-to-lovers, bad boy billionaires and confident women making their own rules. Read this great book!

I loved seeing a 34-year-old plus-size woman like Juniper who feels real. She’s got her own struggles, makes some messy choices, and you can tell she’s dealing with a lot. But that’s what makes her story so relatable. She’s not perfect, and that’s okay cuz she’s human, and she still deserves all the love and steamy moments.

Juniper and Zade are such characters but they left me asking questions about them. But again overall it was a good story!
