My blood boiled the moment I saw her back in town -- The same woman who had left me without a word years ago.
I thought I’d moved on... A single dad and a successful rancher – I had a lot going for me. But Bonnie’s soft skin could never become a memory of the past. She had a son too. And a new job as my brother’s assistant. A second chance was inevitable despite my reasons to forget her. But I wasn’t the only one that deserved to be angry. I had hidden something big from her. Bonnie had no idea I was a wolf shifter. That would impact her even more because of her own secret. The identity of her son... who looked a lot like me. Secrets could destroy us, but danger would get to us even sooner. And the wolf shifter in me would do anything to protect the family I lost the first time around...
This is book two of the Prospect Shifter Daddy Mates series and the main characters are Jessie Parker and his former love Bonnie Thurmond, who has recently returned to town with her son Tyler. Bonnie has accepted a job as a physician’s assistant at Jessie’s brother Matt’s clinic. Jessie has enough to deal with having only just getting his divorce to his ex-wife Chloe finalised and hopefully out of their son Hunter’s life, since she didn’t really seem interested in being a mother to him. He has a ranch to run as well as having been a single father to Hunter pretty much all his life. He had come to the hospital to pick up his brother Matt, but instead saw Bonnie, which shocked him completely. He hadn’t seen her since she gave him back her engagement ring and left on a bus to the city! She broke his heart and he had no idea why she broke up with him. He thought she loved him as well and they had made plans to get married. Bonnie has tried to keep away from Jessie, but it seems like everywhere she goes, he is there as well. She tries to avoid going into town, but has to eventually cave after promising to take her son for pizza and a chance to play on the arcade games there. She spots Jessie at another table, where he is meeting with other single dads while their kids all play in the back room. Hunter and Tyler actually meet playing the arcade games and even make friends, not that either of their parents realise this.
Bonnie manages to meet up with a few former friends, one of whom has noticed how much Tyler looks like Jessie! Something she had never told him, as when she had found out she was pregnant a couple of months after leaving town, she rang a friend and heard that he had married Chloe, seemingly not missing her at all! Chloe seemed to get on better with his father, rather than him, and it seems his money was her target all along. The divorce has gone against Chloe, but it seems she isn’t quite finished with Jessie yet! She is going to work to make him pay and she doesn’t really care what it does to their son in the meantime! Jessie wants to hate Bonnie for her actions all those years ago, but all he can think about is who the father is! They have started talking to each other, mostly pushed together by an interfering brother Matt, who is trying to make up for taking so much of Jessie’s time away from the ranch. Jessie has bought in a whole load more cattle and has a very successful beef from them, but he needs to make ends meet and pay off all of Chloe’s excessive spending debts! Both boys want a horse of their own and Jessie makes part of their dreams come true, allowing them to ride a horse with them, as he takes Bonnie to one of his favourite spots on the ranch.
When a storm comes in suddenly, they are too far away to make it back and end up in a cave for the night, but Tyler is running a fever as they all end up soaked to the skin. He is also having nightmares about wolves and Jessie thinks he knows what is causing it and it comes back to the one secret he had kept from Bonnie all those years ago, that he was a wolf shifter! It is not something he can keep from her any longer, especially when Tyler acts out as his wolf tries to guide him to more knowledge about what he is becoming. Unfortunately, the nightmare of his ex-wife is still out there and she insists on seeing Hunter for the weekend and she has a new boyfriend on the scene as well. Thankfully, Jessie doesn’t exactly place much trust in Chloe and his stranger looking after Hunter, so ensures Hunter has a lifeline to contact his dad if needed. Good thing he did, as Chloe’s new bloke is not someone that should be left with young children! It seems Chloe has been promising more than she can, hoping to make Jessie out to be the bad guy. Chloe’s big mouth soon reveals part of the reasons why Bonnie left town so suddenly all those years ago, and made it clear all the reasons she had wanted her out of the way. Jessie was manipulated by his father, who hated Bonnie, especially because of who her family were, into marrying Chloe. Chloe pulls Jessie back into court yet again, as she makes accusations about Jessie’s capability as a father and for sole custody of Hunter, which was never likely to happen. It was all a delaying action, as her partner did something unbelievable. Jessie and Bonnie have a fight on their hands to find their boys and hope they are okay, with Jessie almost letting his wolf out to deal with the situation! The two boys are brilliantly accepting of what has been uncovered about their lives and while it took Bonnie a few days, they are stronger afterwards and have a second chance at the life they should have had all those years ago, and they aren’t going to let anything interfere with it now! A lovely romance with secrets on both sides that their younger selves allowed to break them apart, but changed now everything has been revealed. This was a fantastic book that had pulled at the heart strings with lies, betrayal, manipulation, bitterness, heart break, greed, shifters, action drama kidnapping are just a few things that will have on the edge off your seat hoping it all works out for lost love found again. Jessie is a wolf shifter who had his heart broken by his fiancée Bonnie who called off their engagement and left town 5yrs ago and so he married Chloe after his father forced him into it who is nothing but a gold digger but when she abandoned there son Hunter leaving Jessie to raise him is still causing issues even now after they divorced but all he wants is a peaceful life with his son and his successful ranch but his ex Chloe wants more money or custody of there son and to top it all off his Bonnie has returned home and has a son with her and is working for his brother as a nursing assistant and Matt hopes he can bring these too back together now they are both single but she has a secret that her son is his and never told Jessie. Bonnie is back in her home town with her son Tyler who is Jessie son but she never she was pregnant until she left town and when she called her best friend she told her that Jessie had married Chloe and so she decided not to tell him but now she is back one look at him and he will know her child is his son. Now there kids have become friends they go horse ridding together and get caught in a storm and end up together in a cave and when Tyler shows signs of changing into a wolf for the first time he knows for sure that he is his son and must tell Bonnie that he is a wolf shifter and that Tyler is also one at first she is shocked but they soon talk about it and the reason she left and that his Ex Chloe and his father had forced her to leave. There is so much more going on in this book that makes want revenge against those who have kept them apart and when the kids are taking as well. Great book and a must read.

Rancher Jessie Parker’s ex-wife Chloe was only after his money and freely lied in court about everything. But his lawyer was ready and showed the court all of the visits she ignored or canceled to avoid seeing her son. And she provided a report from the accountant on the quantity of money she had spent during the marriage and the number of expensive gifts from her husband and father-in-law. The other lawyer said he was never given this information, so she gave the judge the certified receipt the secretary had signed. Fortunately Chloe lost her case, not getting a share in the ranch, Jessie getting full custody of Hunter, and she does not get alimony.
Bonnie Thurmond and Jessie Parker had been dating back in their high school days. Bonnie had left unexpectedly and never told Jessie what was going on. So he figured she didn’t care about him. Today he has been waiting to pick up his brother and he could not stay any longer. So he went to his brother’s office to leave a note, and there he saw Bonnie, back in town after all these years! He was angry, feeling his heart being ripped out again, and she was upset that his brother Matt had not talked to him as he promised. Bonnie now works for his brother who needed help with his practice. He didn’t want to hear anything more and walked out of the office, ignoring her calls to him. Both of them are now single parents and alone.
Jessie had one more secret he never told Bonnie. He is a wolf shifter. And that could make a difference, because her son looks very much like him. She will need some help if and when Tyler is able to shift. Will they forgive each other for the past and accept the second chance offered now? Or would Jessie’s greedy ex-wife Chloe return to interfere in his life and threaten his children?
This book was readable and a way to pass a rainy afternoon but I don't understand the rave reviews- it was ok at best and annoying at worst. It had overused tropes and not a good romance between MC's. -The conflict between them is teased out til about 25%, so the first few meetings between Mc's we don't know why they are acting and feeling the way they are. -Years lost due to a misunderstanding/miscommunicating -h keeps the H's baby a secret from him. This is an AWFUL thing for a woman to do to a man, and short of abuse or drug use there is no excuse. She definitely has no good reason here, other than her own feelings (he hopped into a rebound relationship quick and she was hurt by that after she dumped him with no warning). This is one issue I think needs to be addressed in Women's fiction bc I still see that trope used and condoned. It's not ok! -h makes big decision, to end their relationship, with no communication, "for his own good". I hate hate HATE when H's do this and it is not different for h's. She could have laid everything out for him and come up with a plan with him! She supposedly loved him but didn't respect him enough to make good decisions? -After they clear up their issue, namely the issue of his late father hating her for being trailer trash, she tells him that she doesn't want to pursue reconciliation bc it was all in the past and maybe it's best to leave it there. So the H, who has done nothing wrong, must now be the pursuer in this relationship, while the h, who dumped him, skipped town, hid his baby from him, and came back for a job, drags her feet and has to be convinced to give him another shot? What a one-sided kind of love.
I don't like to criticize my fellow women but honestly this h just didn't do it for me.

This story took place in a small little county town and you can really get a sense of the warmth and community from Meadows' descriptions. The main characters (Jessie & Bonnie) are teenage sweethearts separated by a heart-wrenching series of decisions/actions. We get a picture of what they were like back then (6 years ago) and in the present. Both are dedicated parents and professionals (rancher and physician's assistant). Bonnie was shunned when she was younger because her father was a drunk with a temper and they didn't have alot of money. Jessie never cared about any of that and thought they would be together forever until she left him with a broken heart.
After coming back to work for Jessie's brother, Bonnie is determined to keep her distance from Jessie (though she knows she will need to tell him about their son). The stress and anxiety she puts herself through is rather anticlimactic, especially with her anything but adult handling of Jessie's revelations.
I enjoyed the reading. It was predictable, with a few surprises tucked away. Yet, that was what I found comforting about it. I particularly liked that the boys became friends before the parents were even aware. Haha! Oh...just a note, Meadows did a wonderful job on the villians in this book. You'll love to hate them!
This was an ARC and I an writing voluntarily. Compared to the 1st book, I admit I liked the 1st one just a bit more, but this one is definately worth reading if you have interest in paranormal romances. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
Betrayal, manipulation and greed … put them all together and lives will be ruined. Add love into the mix and trouble like never imagined will come knocking. Chloe and Nick know that very well. But, hey, they asked for it. Yes, Chloe and Nick are the bad guys and it’s so much fun ‘watching’ them get their comeuppance.
Chloe played her role good…. maybe too good. Her job was to tear apart Jessie and Bonnie’s relationship. Working alongside Jessie’s dad she succeeded, at least she thought she did. It might have taken five long years to set things straight, but true love never dies.
There will be secrets to overcome and innocent children in danger, but Jessie is a shifter and woe be to the man who tries to harm his young sons. Poor Nick has no idea who he’s dealing with and what trouble will follow.
Hmmm, did I say poor Nick? Well, that was just a figure of speech. No way could I feel sorry for that deviant man. But I do wish I could have seen Jessie’s dad get his ‘just due’ too… but in a way I guess he did, because threats have no power in death.
They say all’s well that end’s well and that may be so, but the road to a happy ending for Jessie and Bonnie is paved with a lot of speed bumps and sharp curves.

I totally fell in love with Jessie immediately and wanted to hit his brother for blindsiding him with the return of the love of his life, Bonnie. Then finding out she had a kid on top of that all in the middle of Jessie’s battle with his wife for divorce and his son Hunter’s custody?! Total crazy town. His ex is just crazy and a bit evil mastermind. Everything that happened years ago was because of things outside his or Bonnie’s control. Little Hunter and Tyler are adorable kids. Omg, I just wanted to play games with them and snuggle and give them stuffed animals. Lol. They were so real.
I love that Bonnie and her bestie from childhood, Mandy just click back to each other like no time had passed. It was so sweet and loving. I found myself grinning for quite a while after that. It makes me angry that people still believe that olden day bs of where people live matters. What matters are what people say and do. Not because of their parents or where they grew up. Watching the changes through Jessie, Hunter, Tyler and Bonnie were amazing. I hope e get to see more of these characters, because I fell in love with them. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Bonnie returns home with her five year old son, Tyler just wanting to make a life for herself and her son in a safe environment.
Jessie has just finalised his divorce from his hateful ex wife, Chloe. Relieved to have custody of their son Hunter with only limited visitation rights. Just feeling as though he's getting his life back on an even keel and he sees the only woman he ever loved back in town.
Bonnie is a strong, out spoken young woman and a dedicated mother. Whilst Jessie is a protective, focused father now unsure what direction he wants his life to go in.
Both have secrets that could damage any relationship they might want to build and that's quite apart from the chaos that Chloe seems intent on creating.
A wonderful hot shifter romance with adventure, danger and the potential of a new family.

Bonnie and Jessie were high school lovers and because of family interference from Jessie's father, Bonnie left after graduation and never communicated with Jessie. He wasn't aware of what was done and assumed Bonnie didn't love him. Five years later, they find one another again and both are single parents.
There are secrets each one has that has affected their past and could impact their future. Add a vindictive ex-wife into the mix and the story gets even more entertaining. My one wish was that it wouldn't have had such an abrupt ending. I would have liked to read a chapter or two more about how they built their family. This was such an enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

I really enjoyed this story, and it was a great follow on from the previous book that has some of the same characters in it. Jessie and Bonnie were engaged when they were just out of high school and Bonnie, for some reason disappeared without a trace. Now five years later, she has returned back to Prospect with her son Tyler, working as his brothers assistant. Tyler has similar features to Jessie is beginning to wonder if he is his son a lot of things happen to push them into each other way and eventually they can keep a distance from each other because they love is still strong, even though they have tried to deny it. There is a happy ending for this couple and for their children who embrace each other.

When Bonnie and her son returned home to the town she grew up in, she knew there was a risk she would bump into her ex Jessie. Jessie's anger at seeing Bonnie again was obvious, but when the truth came out about why she left they both try to give it a go again. With both having secrets, their relationship is tested when they are revealed at the same time. With an ex wife determined to get what she can from Jessie and try to destroy Bonnie, their lives are anything but smooth. A beautifully written, second chance shifter story that is full of drama and it will captivate you from the beginning. A great addition to the series and I look forward to the next one.

I loved this book! Jessie and Bonnie were first loves who lost their chance when Bonnie suddenly leaves town. It will be years before he will see her again and it will be when his brother hires her to be his assistant. All Jessie’s feelings are still there and will rise to the surface when he sees her but the old hurts are there. He is also newly divorced caring for his young son. His ex will continue to cause problems but when Jessie finally learns the truth about why Bonnie left and what secret she has been keeping, they will finally get the chance to get their second chance at love with just a few bumps in the road along the way.

I followed Jessie's story with his son Hunter in this book. Who are Chloe, Nick, Sarah, Bonnie, and Tyler? How do all five of them play into the story? I liked that Jessie and his brother mended fences. I liked Jessie's best friend from the single dad's group. I could picture the pizza place as Ms. Meadows had described it in the story. Who got the second chance in this book? What happened when two children were together after horseback riding and taking shelter from a storm? Who got scared and was ready to walk away out of anger at learning a secret? This had me sitting up and on the edge of my recliner after the kidnapping. When I learned that the children were taken, it made me laugh! Enjoy this second-chance romance.
The past catches up, but in a good way when she returns to the place she came from. It's a time for second chances and this time she's determined not to be pushed out. He finally finds out that the love of his life was pushed away from him and didn't leave on her own. Now it's his chance to make sure she knows exactly how he feels. Adding kids to the mix is adorable but they don’t take into account who forced them apart in the first place.

Years ago Bonnie had been forced to leave Lucas after they had gotten engaged, she left but found out that she was pregnant but he was already married. His father made him marry Chloe after their son was born she left him alone quite a bit and thought that she would get custody of the son and child support but her and her boyfriend messed up. This story tore at my heart strings. I was so rooting for Jessie and Bonnie to get back together and the two little boys having a happy family. Tyler finding his real dad and Hunter having someone to be a real mother to him since his mom was worthless. There's tons of drama, but also some romance, steam, family, the characters are relatable, there's also a little danger for the boys and a happily-ever-after for the family.

This is a great second chance novel! I liked it a lot. It's romantic, steamy and emotional. This story was heartbreaking. I really hoped that Jessie and Bonnie would get back together and that the two little boys would have a happy family. Tyler found his real father and Hunter someone who is more of a real mother to him than his own mother ever was. I loved this book. Read it. You can only love it.

This was a great story. Bonnie and Jessie were high school sweethearts but due to her father's actions they split up and he doesn't know why. After a few years they meet again and there is enough old pain on his part because she left him and he thought she didn't love him. Can they put the past to rest and will he find out the reason why she left years ago? Will they take that chance and get a HEA together with their children?

I love second chance stories! There was so much more to their break-up years ago than either Bonnie or Jessie realized. And they each had a really big secret they had been keeping from each other, too. I got such a big kick out the stunts Jessie's ex-wife, Chloe, kept pulling throughout the story and loved the way Bonnie dealt with her.

Five years after parting, Bonnie and Jessie are both angry with each other for keeping a major secret from the other, somewhat hypocritical, but both main characters are likeable and I liked how they worked together to have their second chance romance, especially when danger threatens. I liked that Bonnie had to actually take time to consider Jessie's revelation and its implications rather than just immediately acceptance that often occurs in shifter romance writing.
Bonnie and Jesse’s story has them being high school sweeties. But his father’s interfered had her leaving after graduation. But she left with a piece of him with her. She bad years later as his bro assistant. But now he’s a single dad with an ex that just don’t stop, and a secret he never told Bonnie that will help her since her son will be a shifter too.

This was another page-turning read with fab world building and characters that were both realistic and captivating. Bonnie and Jessie are suddenly back in each other's sphere and the hurt feelings and secrets look like they won't have any chance at forgiveness and a forever love. Both are single parents and I loved that their boys became friends before they even knew ;D With a warm community and bad bad guy, this was an engaging and steamy romance. Can't wait for more :D
If one is a shifter, figuring out how to reveal that to your fated mate is a challenge. This story handles it in a rather unique way. Both the main characters paid a price for their youth when their original connection is interrupted. The magic of fate still binds them and they learn about a deeper connection that makes readers sigh in longing.
