The Way We Dance

Rate this book
One dances with grace. The other dances in the endzone.
Giselle was the daughter of a world-renowned prima ballerina, struggling to live up to her mother’s legacy. When she decides to leave the stage behind, she lands in Atlanta, content to teach ballet lessons to the next generation.

What she didn’t expect was to wind up teaching the NFL’s biggest bad boy how to plié .

Tyson Black was from the other side of the tracks, using football to get himself off the streets and out of trouble. But as the new season approaches, his game is lacking, sparking his coach to send him to the one place he’d never be caught dead: Ballet lessons.

Despite neither of them wanting to be there, Giselle and Ty begin working together in hopes of finding mutual ground in their arrangement. Their time together wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t complete opposites in every way.

Giselle is graceful, poised, and uptight.

Ty is wild, obnoxious, and a bit of a brute.

They clash with every step, using their quick wit and banter to drive each other crazy. It takes time, but eventually, they develop a rhythm, mutually calling a truce as they discover that they have more in common than just the way they dance.

But that commonality was dangerous, and when someone gets hurt, it could lead to their ultimate demise.

Can they overcome the hurdles? Or will they have to learn to dance alone?

The Way We Dance is a funny, witty, and smart look into what happens when opposites attract on the dance floor. A touch of suspense and a twist will keep you guessing.

Written in dual, 1st person POV, with an HEA.

Touchdowns be damned.
Super Bowls could go fuck themselves.
I would give it all up to feel like this with Giselle, over and over again.

4.25 stars!

This was an expected but lovely surprise! I love a good opposites attract storyline and the love story between Ty and Giselle was fantastic. It wasn't as gritty and angsty as I prefer, but I still found myself fully invested as Ty fights to let go of his past and Giselle attempts to find her own place in the ballet world. There was a tiny bit of danger and angst, but overall I really enjoyed this opposites attract romance ♡

This book was amazing. I was captivated from the first page to the last reading Ty and Giselle’s story. Opposites that come together, one cocky and the other to trying to put herself out there to find love, only to see that what she wanted was staring right back at her. Totally swoon worthy read, really enjoyed their story.

The writing was bad, and the characters weren't good wither. The hero was an asshole and, at almost half the book read, I didn't get anywhere near to liking him. He also, at one point, threw her tablet at the wall. I prefer men who know to control their anger and not boys who throw things when they're upset. Because he threw it at the wall this time, but what about the next time he gets angry? And that incident was even addressed properly, it was just glossed over.

Opposite Attracts✅
Football Romance✅
Sort of Enemies to lovers✅

Plot 5✨
Spice 4🌶️

Giselle tried to live up to the expectations that the ballet world held her to all because of who her mother was. When the pressure and the mean words became too much, she threw a dart at a map and packed up her life for wherever it landed. Now she is struggling to keep her studio afloat in Atlanta. The opportunity that she needs to make some more money shows up in the lobby of her building on the worst night of her life.

Football changed Ty's whole life. It got him off the street slinging drugs and gave him a place to channel all the rage he had for his crappy upbringing. He found that he had a natural gift and didn't have to think too much, but now his natural gift is failing him. He cannot catch a ball to save his life. He knows he needs to focus and the fact that his past is coming back around is not helping. His coach has set him up with someone who is supposed to help him with exercises. When he shows up to the address and see's that it is a ballet studio Ty thinks his coach is losing his marbles.

Will Ty stop being so grumpy and allow Giselle to help him?
Ty wants to see the uptight Giselle let lose, can he get under her skin enough to see this?
When what happened to Giselle that night and Ty's past connect can they trust each other enough to save this or will it be too much?

Katie, Katie, Katie. How is it that I have loved every one of these books in this series? You write your MC's with backgrounds that anyone can relate to, and that is an amazing talent. I just wanted to take Ty in my arms and tell him that he was surrounded by family. It hurt my heart for what he was feeling and the decisions he had to make. The ending of that story was perfect. Just like with the other books Katie has written a story that holds an amazing life lesson. Family is not always the people we share blood with but the people who show up for us, support us, love us and best of all don't hurt us for their own gain. I am sad to see the end of this series, hopefully we get more stories. I know I want to see Coach go against the rules one time, maybe a age gap romance that is a little taboo???? Who know, Katie???

Such an amazing book! Ty, a football player, and Giselle, a ballet dancer, meet in such an unexpected way. Giselle owns Brise a dance studio. Someone literally comes in and attacks her one night. Ty’s game is off in football and so what his coach does next is amazing. He runs into Giselle and asks her to help him. You would never guess what happens next. Wait to you find out. How can these two help each other and Giselle’s one student who is being bullied for being a dancer and wants to be a football player. Can they possibly find out who attacked Giselle and who is doing a bunch of break ins in the area? Wait to you see who it is the culprit. It will definitely shock you. The connection between these two starts off shaky but wait to you see how spending two nights a week together dancing turns out. A definite must read you won’t want to put down. I shed a few tears at how everything turned out. Katie Rae definitely has a way to pull at your heart strings and make you love Ty and Giselle and the way they dance together. I’ve learned that in life if you can’t do something right, practice makes perfect. Keep going and that is definitely what Ty does. He knows he needs to be on his game to play football so he continues his lessons with Giselle even though dancing wasn’t his idea. Giselle continues to teach him and the rest is definitely history.

This book pulled me in from the first page. I fell in love with Katie's writing style and her ability to pull you into her world, and Ty and Giselle's story is no different. It's amazing and is filled with everthing I look for in a great romance novel.

Ty and Giselle are two very different people from two very different worlds. Ty is the epitome of a bad boy with a heart of gold. A guy from the "wrong side of the tracks" that's trying to make something of himself and escape a life he knows he deserves better than. Giselle tries to be prim and proper despite the naughty side that she hides beneath that tutu.

When the two come together to dance the chemistry explodes and the saying "opposites attract" is taken to a whole other level.

I love the way these characters grow and develop from their relationship with each other.
I highly reccomend this book for anyone who is a true fan of romance.

I love books that feature ballerinas. I think it stems from my jewelry box as a child that had a twirling ballerina. Whatever the reason, when I saw Katie Rae’s next book was going to feature a ballerina and one of the football players we met in one of her previous books, I got really excited. I had very high expectations and let me tell you she fulfilled them.
Ty and Giselle are complete opposites. He is the troubled bad boy of football. All big, intimidating, tattooed and not a single graceful bone in his body.
Of course, Giselle is about as different as you can get. With a mother that is a world-renowned Prima Ballerina, ballet has been Giselle’s everything until the pressure gets to her. She moves to Atlanta to get a new start and ends up having to teach Ty to be graceful.
As you know, there is a lot more to their HEA, but I’m not going to spoil it for you. All I have to say is the scene in the ballet studio with the barre...🔥🔥🔥🔥.

A ballerina and a football star are people who rarely cross paths. Their talent and careers are on opposite ends of the spectrum…or so I thought. Ty has become a football player with two left feet on the field. He meets Giselle when he starts taking private dance lessons to help with his coordination and balance. They not only have strong personalities but are complete opposites. They love story is a slow burn because they both have issues to work through and even larger egos. I loved how the author was able to stay true to their personalities and still carefully weave together a wonderful love story. It’s not always sweet or romantic, and some elements are a bit dangerous. But when these two get together it is fireworks and sultry steam! In the end they discover how much they need one another and how their connection gives them a new strength and the ability to be better at their individual careers.

This is my first Katie Rae book and all I can think is... where has she been hiding cuz now all I want to do is go back and find every book she’s ever written and read them all.

The Way We Dance is a beautifully written sports romance that had me falling in love from the very start. Giselle and Ty will captivate you in a way you’re not prepared for. These two are seriously so amazing that I wish they were real. I’m totally infatuated with them. Katie took a bad boy football player and a prim and proper ballerina and made them sizzle!

Katie’s writing pulls you straight into the story with her attention to detail. You’re immersed in the world she’s created and when it’s done, you’re wishing there were more pages and you didn’t have to leave.

5 stars for this amazing story that had me feeling all of the emotions and wishing it didn’t have to end.

Review: 3.5/5 ⭐️
Steam: 3/5 🔥

#thewaywedance by @katie_rae_author is book 4 in the series.

Ty definitely hasn’t had it easy. But once he got into football his life changed for the better. But now, his brother has him distracted and it’s affecting his game. Being noticed by his coach, he’s signed up for ballet lessons. Giselle is the last thing he expected. She’s prim and proper and everything he won’t ever be. But the pull they have together and banter leads to some steamy moments. Sometimes opposites attract more than they ever thought.

I liked this book. The banter and story was great. Definitely didn’t expect a couple things. The only reason I knocked it down a star was because I felt like the end was rushed. I wish we knew how the recital went, I would have loved to read about that. Overall such a good series and if totally recommend !

Katie Rae is one of my all time favorite authors . The way we dance is the perfect example why . Katie delivers every single time , The way we Dance is a beautifully written sports romance , that grabbed onto me from the very beginning. I became so invested in both Giselle and Tys love story , that before I knew it they had my heart 💜. Ty is a bad boy football player and Giselle a proper ballerina, but the chemistry these two have is off the charts . They may be opposites , but they also compliment each other so well . They truly bring the best out in one another . This is such a beautiful story, I found myself reading into the early morning just to finish . They do not have a easy start but once they get together it’s a truly beautiful dance to watch

Le sigh…this book was just, everything. I expected steam (I got it), I expected banter (I got it)…what I wasn’t expecting was to fall head over heels for Ty when he entered onto the scene like a wrecking ball or Giselle with her stiff demeanor and snooty attitude.
It wasn’t until their two worlds collided that the fireworks began and their true selves began to show. The fact that the two of them couldn’t have been more different: their professions, their backgrounds, their attitudes, it made their banter and chemistry that much more enjoyable. I was there with my popcorn for every twist and turn in their journey and ate up every single word.
I absolutely love this series and this book is now fighting for my favorite story.

Ty and Giselle

We met Ty in The Love We Make, so I was hoping he’d get a HEA. When his brother comes to town and brings trouble with him, Ty’s game is completely thrown off. In effort to get him back to catching passes instead of tripping over his own feet, Ty’s coach makes him start taking ballet classes. Giselle could be more different from Ty; “Miss Priss” is prim and proper, always poised and rarely uses contractions when she speaks. And yet these two are a classic case of opposites attract.

Ty is exactly what Giselle needs to help her loosen up. And she is exactly what he needs to help him gain not only his focus back into the game but also gain understanding that family is who you choose to have in your life.

Ty and Giselle’s story is perfect in every way. Complete opposites that are able to bring their sassiness and love together. This story gives you the perfect amount of drama that is needed. Ty is a bad boy who was part of the wrong side of the tracks who fell in love with football. When he's game is off, his coach makes him take dance classes. Giselle not wanting the extra attention, but needs it all the same for her business sake, does what she needs to do. Without fault of their own, their hearts get in the mix.

I was pulled in from page one. I'm thankful that Katie wrote one of my favorite books to date!

Ty & Giselle, despite seemingly being so very opposite, fit perfectly well together. They each have a facade of sorts they live w/ because they think they have to. When they get together, at first antagonizing each other, their dance is magic.

I really enjoyed these characters & their story! There's humor & heart & heat & Ty is really very sweet! He wouldn't think of himself as such, but it's true. And Giselle is quite funny, even tho she wouldn't think so. And I love the way they both discover the true meaning of family.

This was a quick read & I'm glad I randomly found it in a group on FB! Thumbs up!!

Dancing Tight End? Yes Please!

This story will make you fall in love with love. ❤️ Who knew ballet could make a tight end into a better football player? Ty’s Coach did. And that’s why he hires a dance instructor that lives in his building to help improve Ty’s game. It’s not Ty‘s favorite way to spend two afternoons a week, but the more he spends time with his new dance teacher, Giselle the more he wants to be there. Sometimes, family tends to get in the way, but not like this. Click, download, and read this now!

I could not put this down!! Leave it to Katie Rae to pull me out of a slump and put me back into one at the same damn time!!

The thing I love most about her books are the range of emotions I get. She hasn’t failed to make me happy and sad but anxious at the same damn time and have me coming back for more.

Ty and Giselle are my favorite couple so far!! I love their dynamic and how he’s this bad boy player but he’s really just a big softie. I really enjoyed watching him break through Giselles walls and her finding herself.

Katie Rae is a new to me author but she won’t be for long because this opposites attract story was too good to put down.

Giselle is a prim and proper prima ballerina and Ty is a tatted bad boy football player, there’s no two people who are more different. Their chemistry was hot from the very first meeting. Can these two, who have nothing in common find common ground?

I loved the story, the suspense, and the characters. This was a great story and I loved it!
