The Secret of the Funeral Home: A Novella

Rate this book
Joseph remembered awakening suddenly to the chaos of a massive accident scene.
He had stared bemusedly at his see-through legs as his body and the bodies of his wife and daughter were loaded into an ambulance.
He had followed the bodies to the hospital and then the funeral home.
The Graveston funeral home. He knew that name.
He was now staring at the figures of his wife and daughter writhing under two white sheets on two metal gurneys.
A woman caught his attention as she began to wheel his gurney down a hallway.

What was behind those doors?
Did anyone know he was still here?

Not what I expected

I was expecting a mystery or horror or maybe a comic take. This was more magical realism. With a good punch of philosophy. This was a book obtained through a Goodreads giveaway. And I'm very glad this showed up in my Kindle app. Izobel owes a funeral home, but she also is responsible for the souls of the dead when they don't move on at death. She and her staff are working with a family killed in a car crash. I really enjoyed this novella.
