In Show Me a Marriage of Convenience, Heather's been there for Kade and his adorable son, Landon, but Kade's never really seen her. When Heather proposes they marry for Landon's sake, Kade agrees because he doesn't want Landon's birth mother to get him if anything should happen to Kade, and he doesn't want his own father to get Landon, either. Heather is a successful business owner and is confident in her abilities in business. Her self-esteem and confidence in herself as a woman of worth is lacking. When Kade's eyes are finally open to the woman Heather really is, can he help her to see that their marriage could work as a "real" one??
In Show Me a Second Chance, Mac is raising his daughter, Danica, as a single father. Her biological mother is an alcoholic, and didn't want to be bothered raising Danica. Mac didn't want her around their daughter. His daughter has run off babysitters, women who wanted a chance at being Mac's girlfriend, but when Kimberly comes back to town, Danica takes to her. When Mac finds out that Kimberly is an alcoholic, can he open his heart to her and trust her with his daughter? Kimberly drank to ease her pain. When she meets Mac again, and falls in love with his daughter, can she stay sober for their sakes? When she finally comes back to God, with His help, she can!!
In Show Me the Boss, we meet Kansas when he comes to Cowboy Crossing. Nehemiah, Danica, and Landon almost steal the show, though!! Kansas has grief that he hasn't totally worked through; both from his childhood and losing his wife and second child. Liberty has anger that she's let fester over her broken marriage and losing her unborn child, and being told she'll never have more. When these two hurting people, who have gotten masterful at hiding their feelings, meet, watch out!! I love that the ladies in this series are "regular" size to "plus" size women! I also love that the men love them for THEM. These two hurting people help each other to heal, and in the process, find new love.
In Show Me Best Friends, Little Izzy steals the show!! This was such a great book, I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next!!! The story took some twists I had no idea it was going to take!! What I love the most is that Maverick comes back to his faith in God, and Vera was the one who helped him, which was fitting since she's been in love with him for years! Such a great book!! I'm looking forward to the next one!!
In Show Me My Brother's Best Friend, we meet Jenna and Riley. I LOVED Jenna and Riley's story!!! I did NOT figure things out until Jenna did, and wow, what surprises!!!!! Andy is a little doll, and deserves to be happy. This was such a great read!!! With all that's been happening the end of 2020 and now in our world, this was such an uplifting and encouraging read!! Riley has grown up into a confident man after spending years feeling that he had to prove himself. Jenna learned that she was worthy of love just as she is, without having to find appreciation in the wrong places and people. Such a great read, with a bit of an added surprise!
In Show Me a Family for Christmas, Conner and Gwendolyn meet when Conner decides to he needs to get to know his half-siblings. He thinks he can use Gwendolyn to find out about them, and that it'll be ok when he reveals who he is and why he did it the way he did. However, the more time he spends with Gwendolyn, the more he realizes he's really messed things up with her and his siblings. He's not sure she can forgive him for keeping the secret, as she has huge trust issues. However, when push finally comes to shove, Gwendolyn realizes that she doesn't even fully trust God to do what He says He will do, so how she can trust herself or anyone else? Once she realizes, and chooses to trust God, Conner, and others, things finally work out, and she finds the family she's longed for, as do Conner and Daisy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Show Me a Marriage of Convenience Zero-to-married in no time flat! The storyline is well thought-out and the characters have good chemistry. I was rooting for Heather and Kade's relationship to turn from a convenience into a love match. It is refreshing to have a realistic heroine. The writing was so descriptive that it brought the scenes to life and made it all seem real.
Show Me a Second Chance A YUMMY, clean, cowboy romance! I like books like this one where the storyline has a realistic plot. The part that God played in the story felt real and unforced. Driven from the city by a fear that plagues so many women in real life, Kimberly returns to her family in Cowboy Crossing but that means dealing with Mac Clark, the man she left behind with a broken promise twenty years ago.
Show Me the Boss Liberty thought she had her own family once upon a time but that dream turned into a nightmare that she never wants to revisit. Since his wife and baby’s death, Kansas has devoted his life to his business and young son. Kansas is still grieving and never wants to experience that pain again. This is a beautiful cowboy romance about two people who deserve happiness and each other.
Show Me Best Friends Maverick’s accident left him scarred and worthless; physically and psychologically. It’s hard to get out of bed each morning, let alone deal with the baby girl his best friend Rance dumped on him. Maverick and Vera are childhood friends. After a failed career in law enforcement, she is now a private investigator protecting Maverick’s family. Spending time with Maverick and baby Izzy is a bonus. Maverick and Vera are very relatable and Vera’s spunky grandmother is amazing.
Show Me My Brother’s Best Friend Jenna Carter's high-school graduation trip to Europe years ago turned into a career investigating art thefts. Now, she has returned to Cowboy Crossing. Riley, her high-school crush and brother’s best friend, is a foreman at her family’s ranch. He also cares for his young nephew since the death of his mother. Riley is not convinced her death was an accident and asks Jenna to investigate. This is a wonderful, clean cowboy romance!
Show Me a Family for Christmas Conner Strauss will never meet his biological father and that is fine by him. After his wife’s death, there is no one to take care of his young daughter if anything should happen to him. His half-siblings might be the family he is looking for to support him and Daisy but he needs to check them out before he is willing to reveal his identity. Gwendolyn Meyers is in Cowboy Crossing masquerading as a nanny for the Clark family as a bodyguard to protect them in case of another threat. The father and daughter she meets on an outing with the children seemed safe and the little girl’s sad eyes pulled at her heart. This is a happily-ever-after story; my favorite kind.
This wonderful set of clean, Christian romances gave me hours of reading enjoyment. Alexa Verde has delivered a set of nice, clean cowboy romances with some good messages of faith and hope.
ook 1: Show Me a Marriage of Convenience: I loved this single dad romance! There were some super interesting and unique aspects. I’m so excited that Verde is doing a bunch of Cowboy Crossing books. I’ve devoured all of the ones by Jessie Gussman. I cannot wait to see more of this family!
Book 2: Show Me a Second Chance A second chance romantic suspense novel with a single dad in Cowboy Crossing? Yes, please! Great characters and very thorough and inventive storyline. Loss and alcoholism are themes in this book. A wonderful addition to the CC collection. I cannot wait for the next book!
Book 3: Show Me the Boss I loved this installment. Some dislike and some anxiety and quite a few awesome kids. This family is great and I adore these books! I cannot wait for the next one! Amazing characters and great circumstances. Very enjoyable reads.
Book 4: Show Me Best Friends I liked this suspenseful installment in this series. I loved all of the culture woven in and getting to see another member of the family. I’m anxious for the next book!
Book 5: Show Me My Brother's Best Friend The tension is queued up. The players are set. A wonderful romance and mystery that keeps you eagerly flipping the page. Another wonderful installment in Cowboy Crossing. I can’t wait to see what comes out next!
Book 6: Show Me a Family for Christmas I hate when reviews don't get saved and I have to redo them! I feel like I can never get the same feelings across when I have to rewrite the words. I really enjoyed this installment. There is some overlap with the previous book. I don't think it detracted at all from the story. I loved these characters, their personal hurdles, and the adventures they went on together. I loved the suspense aspect. I can't wait for more!
I would have given the first 2 books “5” for their entertainment value. I loved the characters. Book 3 was good. Book 4 was ridiculous. No passports needed here! No Russian Police! No bread lines! I didn’t need a cultural tour of Mother Russia. It was all sunshine and roses…not. I know I got confused but wasn’t Connor actually Gadpard? Didn’t he get arrested? He says he’s going to get revenge but that plot line disappeared. In the beginning the father of the Clarks was an admiral man but boy, was he a philanderer! And Mom Clark said not one word about it? And she stayed with him? C’mon! Jenna, Mac, Maverick, Cade and Liberty were the acknowledged sons and daughter. But wait! Liberty was the Dad’s but not the Mom’s as was Connor( Gaspard??) I thought there was one other who was the Dad’s. Maybe Cade? Then you have Riley and he had an unknown half sibling. It’s all a blur. I firmly believe that no author write more than 3 kids in a family. I thought about plotting their family tree but didn’t. I should have. Oh! So by the end of the 6th book in 3 days the rating averaged about 2.5 but that’s generous. Oh! And by Books 5 and 6 they never mention Maverick’s baby by name. Did you Ms. Verse forget it, too? Oh my.
This is a delightful collection of books by Alexa Verde set in Cowboy Crossing, Missouri. The stories are sweet and clean, and spiritual truths are presented without being preachy. Various tropes are represented: marriage of convenience, best friends to love, second chance, to name a few. It also includes a holiday Christmas story. The stories have romance, a touch of suspense, fun main characters and their adorable children, and, of course, HEAs. This is a feel-good set providing of hours of good reading that you won't want to put down.
This was my first experience with reading Alexa Verde's books. It will not be my last. Each of the books were fantastic. I loved the characters and their stories. Staying up late to read just one more chapter is easy now that I'm retired. The characters are well developed along with the story line. Alexa's writing style paints pictures in my mind of what is going on in the story. Each book lead into the next book which lead to a family/friend experience. I love her style of writing and am looking forward to reading her next series....I already have it!
Don't be fooled about the term cowboy, it's not the wild west type. These are strong manly men from various backgrounds that have a love of the land, each one feeling the need or readiness for a wife. Each novel is as unique as the women uniquely destined by God to become the partner each of them needs.
Many times I read a set like this and it's like reading the same novel multiple times with different names and circumstances but not this one,! Highly recommended!
The stories are basically all the same. Why does everyone have dark pasts? Couldn’t one person in the couple have been spoiled and not abused and jaded? I love the stories and read them all but they need something different. All couples consist of a man who is a single father, angry and determined to never love again then a single woman with her own issues and reasons to never love again comes along and the motherless child becomes the reason they fall in love.
Very awesome clean reads. Second chances for very strong women many of whom knew each other in their younger days. It was fun to read about how these cowboys found their way to love when they weren’t looking for it. The kids in these stories were so cute and fun with their matchmaking skills.
This is a great set of Christain books by one of my favorite authors. Her books never disappoint. Each of these books is full of heartwarming stories cowboys who find love. A really great read.
This is a fantastic boxset. All the stories are so great and heart-warming. But most of all, every single one of them are clean and Christ centered, which I love and appreciate. This boxset started off with a beautiful story. I struggled to put the books down. Alexa Verde is a wonderful writer.
I love reading a series and when they are in a box set they are even better, I can just read and read and read. And these books are clean, faith filled romances which is even better!
This series of stories has been a joy to read. Everyone stories had heart brakes and recovery. Romance and adventures. Love and family and friends and God's blessings added to it great job looking forward to the next set ALEXA VERDE.
Clean, Christian, romantic, intriguing stories about a wealthy family that was not influenced by wealth but by love. Even though I had read 2 in the series were enjoyable to read again. Alexa Verde is one of my favorite authors!
Each story is different and intertwined with family, faith and love. The characters come alive in the writing, the setting and the stories can't help but grab and hold your attention. I very much enjoyed this box set!
