Kelly Lucille is the author of paranormal and fantasy romance.
She has a B.A. Degree in Creative Writing and Literature from Naropa University.
Her first book "Keeping Her" published in July of 2013.

On a more personal note- I read my first romance novel: "Shanna" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss when I was 13 years old. I still read it every year or so just to remember how amazing a really good romance novel can make you feel.

Douglas, The Bruce, is a carpenter and Beatrice is an interior designer for her uncle Jack who owns a business in restoring buildings. The two work very closely together on jobs. Jack had adopted Douglas when he was young and has been a thorn in Beatrice's side ever since. Sparks have flown between the two for years after Douglas burnt down her Barbie dream house. All grown up, the sparks ignite between these two and the results are hilarious.
“Talking to you is like having a conversation with a baboon.   A lot of grunts and butt scratching, but no real information exchange.”

“Are you hatching some plot to remove my dick with a nail file while you’re thinking?”

Finally, the two realize they are meant to be.
“I figure you start looking for a fight, I’ll just fuck that right out of you.”

Over all, it was a cute and funny read. We even get a surprise visit from a certain person from Ms Lucille's Keeping Her series. I really appreciated too that there were not any stupid misunderstanding or miscommunication between them. Things were sorted out swiftly. Also, when presented with an opportunity for OW drama, Beatrice knew the truth and trusted Douglas.

This would have been a solid 4 star read for me except for one thing, that for me personally, brought my enjoyment down half a star. It may not bother others but it's just a personal preference

3 1/2 stars, this was a cute quick and at times funny book. Beatrice and Douglas have known each other since they were young they have never gotten along and everyone knows it. To make matters worse they both work for Beatrice's uncle and find themselves around each other more than they would like. Beatrice is hard headed and strong she won't let anyone push her around, Douglas is irritating and pushy. So when they both end up on the same project together Beatrice makes it very known she isn't happy but Douglas's attitude is different and when they find themselves winding up together Beatrice is shocked but also though she doesn't want to admit it happy.

Douglas picked on Beatrice as much as he could but it wasn't because he couldn't stand her it was because he always liked her and now that he has found his in he won't let Beatrice go no matter what. As Beatrice and Douglas start their relationship they quickly find themselves falling in love but someone is doing their best to ruin their work sight. And as the vandalisms keep building it becomes more obvious that someone has it out for them. This was a quick read that was light and fun, Kelly Lucille is a great author that knows how to write her heroes. It was nice to see the funny side of Mrs. Lucille's writing in this book, and I can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

Cute and typical storyline but don't let that put you off from reading. There is the Alpha H with an h who is no pushover and together they make it to my 'sex hell yeah' shelf. Not my first read of Ms. Lucille's works and I look forward to more of her smooth writing syle. 3 1/2 upper stars.

Cheers

This was a very good story. I really liked Beatrice and Douglas and liked their story. It's a quick read that's fun and sexy. This isn't a PNR story like most of Kelly's work. The main characters are normal and have no knowledge of anything paranormal...however, Logan (from the Lionsgate pack in Kelly's PNR books) does show up briefly in this story (but you don't realize he's a shifter unless you've read her other books and recognize the name). :D

Beatrice is works in interior design for her Uncle Jack who owns a renovation/construction business. She is nice but has a definite feisty side that comes out, especially when she's riled. She's currently dating a lawyer but he's been hinting for something more serious than she's interested in and she's seriously thinking about ending their dating. When the story begins, Beatrice is on a job site for a house that their company is restoring and is extremely unhappy to find out she has to work the project with her arch-nemesis, Douglas.

Douglas is a good guy. He had a tough childhood but made something of himself and became an excellent carpenter. He's been an adopted part of Beatrice's family (via Uncle Jack) since he was a kid and now works for Jack in the construction/renovation business. Douglas tends to be a man-whore when it comes to women but he's always had a thing for Beatrice...

Douglas and Beatrice have been at odds for years and tend to fight more than get along. Douglas likes to tease her all the time but this just tends to piss her off more than get him any good attention. When they get put on this job together Douglas decides it's time to make a move on Beatrice. Beatrice isn't interested in letting Douglas get close to her (at least that's what she tells herself) and he invades her space way too much for her liking. When he shows at her hotel room drunk she has a hard time getting him to go away and when he kisses her she can't help but respond. Douglas passes out soon after but the next day he remembers that she responded to him. After that Douglas is determined to get closer to Beatrice and not let her run away from him. This is a good thing because once Douglas gets past her defensive barriers, Beatrice is scared out of her wits at the thought of letting him get close and possibly feeling something more for him. She tries to fight her attraction but it doesn't work and Douglas pushes determinedly past her objections. There is a brief issue when the lawyer she was dating shows up unexpectedly and Douglas basically chases him off so he has Beatrice free and clear.

Things are sort of touch and go at first. Douglas doesn't back down but Beatrice isn't so easily convinced and she's worried about becoming another of his cast-offs once he's had his fill of her. Because of this she tries to slow things down so she can get her bearings but Douglas does his best not to give her time to think her way out of their blossoming relationship. Because of their long history, I felt that them swiftly falling in to a relationship worked. As the story progresses it becomes apparent that all their antagonism between them has just been the flip side of buried feelings between them. As they start to give more of themselves in to the relationship, they find that things can actually be good between them. As things start working out for them emotionally, other issues arise as someone sabotages the construction site multiple times along with a few other issues. They don't know who's doing it or why so Beatrice's Uncle calls in a friend (Logan) to come and investigate the issue. They find out the cause of the issues and get things settled. After this, Douglas and Beatrice finally admit their long buried feelings for each other and start their HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I really liked both Beatrice and Douglas and enjoyed their banter and chemistry. It was a short and sexy read and I finished reading with a smile on my face. I really enjoy Kelly's work and will look forward to reading more of her stories in the future. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up! :D

Beatrice and Douglas have known each other since childhood. They’ve always teased each other, but now Douglas wants to have a serious relationship with Beatrice – he just doesn’t know how to go about it. He tries annoying her to get her attention. She thinks he’s a playboy. Things get more complicated when their rooms are broken into and their building site is vandalized.

This is a romance so, of course, everything works out in the end. The fun and interesting part is getting there. Beatrice and Douglas are both enjoyable characters. They’re likable but flawed which makes for some great humor.
The author’s writing style is engaging and while her stories are generally short, they’re always entertaining. This book doesn’t take itself too seriously (always a plus in my book) which makes it a great read for the beach or a train ride. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for some light entertainment to leave the real world and its problems behind for a while.

I hope Kelly rewrites this to give it a longer epilogue.

Also, I loved the chemistry except for the fact that it took them so long to get together. I wish they didn't wait so long so that the H didn't have to be a man-ho.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, funny and had a hint of mystery. Logan showing up just reinforces how "awesome" his physique is. Beatrice is a little hard headed and Douglas finally came up to scratch. As I said this was a fun short read.

Short very cute read. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a little more grit to it. The bad guys could have been badder (thats a word right?) and the good guys could have had to over come a bit more. And is it just me that would have liked ??

I was a little worried whether or not Ms. Lucille could write a compelling story without the paranormal aspect, but she carried off rather well, in my own humble opinion...

All in all another good read by Kelly Lucille.

I have loved everything by this author and am waiting with bated breath for each new release. Please Ms. Lucille write faster!!

Favorite quote:

Ok soo I'm getting bad cuz once again I have more than one...

"Now Bumble Bee, did it ever occur to you that you are the one that overreacts? I am considered a very likable guy by some."
"Yes, well, so was Hitler."

"Douglas was perusing the menu and spoke absentmindedly. "Some women need to work at it, advertise, and shine it up, like they have something to sell and need the marketing. All you have to do is breath and you're the sexiest women I have ever met."

I have to preface this review by saying I was in a big reading slump. I read, of course, but nothing really caught my attention. Then I saw that this was on sale and decided to pick it up. I had heard about it but the page count seemed too low for it to be a really good book. But this one just sucks you in and refuses to let you go. I loved this from the very beginning. And the jealousy scenes are the icing on the cake. Beatrice is hilarious and Douglas is an alpha male. Douglas does not want to share Beatrice at all. He is protective, possessive and jealous. I will definitely read other books by this author.

I usually don't enjoy novellas--I don't think there is time to get into a decent story. Books by Kelly Lucille are the exception for me. I really love her writing style, the way she engages her characters in entertaining dialogue, and super spicy intimate scenes. I loved the characters from tis story--the hero was all super alpha, and the heroine was smart and spicy. There was a touch of suspense--this is the only issue I had with the story--I enjoyed the story line, and I wish it was longer so this part could have been developed more. All in all, it was a fun, sexy read!

Great read hot, sweet, sexy and loving! Was ready to resent this book making me wait that much longer for Lucas's book or Melisandra's book now I'm sad it wasn't longer! No paranormal in this one, but I'm going. To go check if Logan the investigator is from the Keeping her series ;)

Haha so sad had to read keeping her and at ones pleasure to find out but it is the same Logan! He really needs a book of his own! Hint hint hehe

What a fun book. I laughed so hard, especially when they were in the art gallery! I loved Douglas, he was alpha and sweet too. I really liked that she threw Logan in the book too. He is definitely one of my crushes from her other books. Kelly Lucille is definitely one of my favourite authors!

I love a strong alpha and feisty heroine, but Beatrice and Douglas just didn't do it for me. I couldn't connect with the characters and the story just felt rushed. The ending was completely blasé and utterly ridiculous.

Fun. These two are definitely in the Much Ado About Nothing mold of being too wise to woo peaceably. I love bickering and bantering, if you do too? Give this one a try.
