Even being her boss couldn’t keep him away. After her world is upended, Oakley Rae leaves behind everything she knows to find herself and ends up in small town Bell Buckle. With the clothes on her back and a few dollars to her name, she finds herself working at a feed store where the employees are welcoming, the customers are nice, and the boss is, well, bossy. Lennon Bronson sticks to the routine he knows. Manage the local feed store, help out on his parents’ ranch, and keep to himself. But with growing stress and his distracting new employee, he forgets what lines shouldn’t be crossed and finds himself caring a little too much about Oakley and her safety. What started as a business relationship quickly blooms into something more, but Oakley doesn’t want to ruin her chances at a fresh start by messing things up with her boss. Things aren’t always as they seem, and when someone starts overstepping on Oakley’s privacy, Lennon has to make a decision. Will he keep his feelings quiet, or admit how he feels to keep Oakley close and out of danger?

I really enjoyed this second instalment of Karley’s Bell Buckle Series.
First off, who doesn’t love a grumpy cowboy?? Lennon was exactly that. I can see why Oakley fell for him.
It was nice to be back in Bell Buckle & see where the characters from the previous book are now as well as seeing all the other characters interact.
One of the main things I love about Karley’s books is how she sets all her characters apart from each other. They all have their own personalities & dynamics with each other. It was nice seeing Lennon spend quality time with his brothers while also seeing Oakley get to know the Bronson family & spend time with the girls.
You can really get a sense of that homely/family vibe within these books. The characters all care immensely for each other which is shown through the way they interact.
Lennon was the perfect grumpy to Oakley’s sunshine. I feel like we see Oakley come out of her shell throughout the book. I like how forward she became with Lennon.
🚨GUYS THERE WAS A LITERAL “FUCK IT” MOMENT
The meet cute in this was fun! I love that Lennon had his eyes set on Oakley from then on. It was also nice seeing Oakley find that little note too.
The book also kinda gave “I had nowhere else to go” vibes.
It was nice to see how Oakley’s dad dealt with her in Bell Buckle & having an “as long as your happy, I’m happy kinda moment.” I love those kinds of scenes.
The spicy scenes between these two were really great. Did someone say desk scene?👀🔥
While I loved the spicy scenes in this book, I did feel like the first one was a little out of the blue. Even though there was a lot of tension between Lennon & Oakley before this, I feel like there needed to be more leading up to that scene in particular.
I loved the added suspense which I felt was a great addition instead of a third act break up. It definitely kept me intrigued. I was suspicious of one character but didn’t suspect the other so that way great.
Karley has a great way of setting up the next book in the series in her previous book. Im super excited to see what happens with Callan, Sage & little Avery in July.
Overall, I highly recommend this book if you’re into small town romances & love a book with loveable characters.
⭐️2.5⭐️ Wasn’t really feeling the insta love/lust in this. Also the sex scenes were so incredibly cringey 😭 the plot also felt a little empty imo and I didn’t connect with any of the characters.
Beat Around The Bush by Karley Brenna 3.5/5⭐ 2,5/5🌶️
The second book in this series outshined the previous book. This book was a delightful mix of light, easy read with some steamy moments, and a bit of suspense to keep readers engaged. Lennon is the eldest of the Bronson siblings; however, unlike his siblings, who are deeply rooted in ranching life, he channels his energy into managing his own business—a local feed store. Oakley, having recently made the bold decision to leave behind her family's drama, relocates to Bell Buckle, seeking a fresh start. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she accidentally collides with Lennon’s truck. The next day, Oakley discovers that her new boss is none other than the man she rear-ended.
Despite their professional responsibilities, every interaction pulls them closer, making it difficult to maintain their composure. Their banter and shared moments are filled with tension, laughter, and a palpable attraction that neither can fully ignore. I found Oakley to be a relatable character. Her bravery in leaving her past behind is admirable, and her determination to carve out her own path is inspiring. Throughout the story, she faces numerous challenges, yet her pride often prevents her from asking for help, which is frustrating. However, her tenacity is a trait that I truly appreciate.
Lennon doesn't want a relationship. He has devoted himself to his feed store and family, shutting himself off from deeper connections. However, this changes as he spends time with Oakley. Slowly but surely, he starts lowering his emotional defenses and engages in thoughtful gestures that reflect his growing affection for her. The “fuck it” moment is one of the most memorable scenes in the book.
The warmth and camaraderie of the Bronson family are beautifully depicted. I loved witnessing how easily they welcomed Oakley into their fold, treating her as one of their own. The interactions among the Bronson siblings are filled with humor and genuine affection.
If you’re looking for a quick, heartwarming read set in a charming small town, adorned with witty sibling banter, a familial atmosphere, and spicy moments, then this book is just what you need.
I really enjoyed this second book! Though it did take me a bit longer to read it but I liked it. Bell buckle seems like such a cute place and I want to live there. I really liked how each character was their own person and you could really tell the difference between them all. This is such a homey cute warm book I loved the vibes. Also the meet cute was perfect and made my heart melt how he was only worried about her and not his truck!!
🐎Small town romance ✨️Cowboy mmc 🐎Strong fmc ✨️Dual pov 🐎Age gap ✨️Grumpy x Sunshine 🐎Boss x Employee
Oakley is leaving Denver and on her way to a tiny town in another state. She gets hungry and wants some Taco Bell, but what she finds is Bell Buckle.
Of course, it's raining, and she can't see, winds up rear ending someone's truck. But the man with the gorgeous hazel eyes isn't worried about his truck one stinkin bit, it's the beautiful green eyed woman looking up at him who gets his full attention, being thoughtful before he even utters a single word.
Lennon, a handsome, thoughtful, and protective cowboy and tumbleweed feed store owner, is hiring a new employee. Can you guess who it will be?
None other than Oakley. And the rest is history from there. Ooooh, I almost forgot there's a touch of suspense you won't see coming just when you think all is well in Bell Buckle.
This is my first read from Karley, and it did not disappoint! Small town, check! Cowboy with brothers? CHECK! Wants to brush her hair? CHECK!
I mean, this has everything you're looking for in a small town romance and add in the suspense element. It's a hit! I also loved how strong Oakley was on her beliefs and doing things on her own, and Lennon helped her with that.
Everyone go read this sweet yet sexy as hell book! Last but certainly not least, Lennons hot ass mouth come to Mama! Holy cow, when he gets Lennon on her..... well, read it, and you'll find out!

I devoured this dang book! I really enjoyed Spur of the Moment, and was so excited to dive back into this series for Lennon’s story. This book differs from the first because it has the edge of romantic suspense that I just freaking loved! It keeps you on your toes and I did not see the plot twist coming.
Lennon was a great male lead. He is neat and orderly in the way he runs his business and life, and then Oakley crashes into him… literally! 🤣
Oakley was just trying to escape her parent’s sudden divorce and her overbearing father. When she gets hired to work at Lennon’s feed store she wasn’t expecting to fall for her boss.
This book had me hooked, start to finish. It’s cute, sweet and spicy! You know it’s going to be a good book when the guy says “Grab the desk.” 😮💨🔥 Lennon was a man who knew what he liked and he helped Oakley vocalize what she wanted.
Beat Around the Bush - Karley Brenna ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Boss x Employee Small Town Romance Broody Cowboy A little bit of suspense
Oakley is running from her family’s issues. She’s let her parents relationship impact her life for far too long so she ran. When she ends up in Bell Buckle she finds herself in an even worse spot when she runs her car into a truck. While no injuries occur, her bruised ego follows her to the next day when she comes face to face with the man who she ran into, Lennon Bronson. Lennon has always had his mind locked into the success of the feed store and nothing could deter him. Except his mind hasn’t been the same since someone with bright green eyes and long auburn hair steamrolled into his life. The two find a way to keep their attraction strictly business but the more Oakley is around, the more Lennon wants to care for her.
I knew that their story would be this daggone good. When we were introduced to Lennon and Oakley separately in Spur of the Moment I just had a feeling that these two were it for each other. Oakley was so headstrong and was so focused on making things work for herself by herself. And Lennon, this beautiful broody cowboy, his love language is acts of service without a doubt. There was a small bit of suspense with two different side characters that I wish was dragged out just a little bit more but otherwise it still flowed. Thank you to Karley for choosing us as ARC readers for this! ✨Stay tuned for it’s official release on April 2nd!✨
If you are the author or if you genuinely loved this book, then this review isn't for you! I want to thank Karley Brenna for sending me an early copy as part of her ARC team.
I really wanted to love this like I wanted to love Spur of the Moment. The idea, the story, the characters, I can feel the potential but the execution falls so flat. Just like with the first book, the characters rush into a relationship and even then I don't feel it between them. It feels all physical and the emotional connection does't feel solid.
I also felt like nothing really happened? I honestly kept questioning if I was missing chapters because it would just jump from point a to b with no really connection on how we got there. I also felt like the reason why the conflict happened was a little icky.
I'm giving it three stars because I do feel like there is so much potential and it could have been such a cute, fun read. Like I said, I WANTED to love it.

I am OBSESSED with this cute little small town series. OBSESSED. Oakley is new to town-- working on Lennon's little shop. He knows he should stay away but OBVI he likes to torture himself and get as close to her as possible. Tease her, get under her skin .gahhh this man. I literally was CRAVING the tension between them. Waiting and waiting for it to snap.
Oakley was incredible. She took her life by the horns and left home. Running right into Lennon. Oak was a bit hard-headed, asking for the BARE MINIMUM of help. But considering what she was leaving behind, I don't blame the girl. She was determined to make it on her own. Lennon was this brooding cowboy but found himself doing all these things for Oakley that was completely out of character for him... ✨SWOOOOOON✨
I absolutely loved their connection. The found family (but also real family) in this book is utter perfection. You have no idea who is and isn't blood and I just love that kind of bond. We also get a bit of suspense which I ATE UP 🤭
Karley is one of my favorite things that came out of 2023. And I will neverrrr not recommend her books. I cannot wait to see where she takes this series!!
4.5⭐️ really cute small town cowboy romance! I love the main characters Lennon and Oakley and loved how their relationship progressed 🤍I can’t wait to read book 3 ✨
Oakley has made her way to Bell Buckle after wanting to have some space from a toxic family dynamic. She gets into a car accident during her first couple of days in town and Lennon is the other person involved. He immediately takes her to and the two part ways, only to meet again when Oakley goes to interview at Lennon’s feed store for a job. Can the two keep it professional?
Who doesn’t love a grumpy, multi-faceted, protective cowboy!? His quiet confidence and possessiveness draws Oakley in and I don’t blame her at all. I love how he takes care of Oakley in all aspects, despite her stubbornness at times.
Oakley is an FMC who I found myself cheering for. Wanting to establish your own identity and life outside of your family is so important and easier said than done. Oakley actively takes steps to establish her independence and avoids accepting help if she can. I enjoyed how she evolved and began to recognize that letting someone take care of you is not a sign of weakness.
The ending felt a tiny bit rushed. I am extremely excited for Reed and Brandy’s book, fingers crossed it’s next!

“oakley rae was a ball of sunshine, and i knew that for the rest of my days, i’d be orbiting around her. she was my world and my universe, and i wouldn’t want it any other way.”
karley has done it again y’all!!! after reading spur of the moment, i could not wait for the next book in the series and karley did not disappoint!! i loved this book from beginning to end and was so excited to be back in bell buckle!
oakley is in my top 5 favorite fmc!! i fell in love with her immediately. she is just a ray of sunshine and the sweetest person ever, i want to be friends with her! she’s also a very independent person so it was really nice seeing her come to the realization that it’s okay to let the people who care about you, take care of you.
lennon is a grumpy cowboy! but he’s also the sweetest most caring guy ever. he’s super protective over the people he loves/cares about and is willing to do anything to make sure they are taken care of always. and the mouth on that man 🥵 i need a lennon in my life!
i didn’t think i could love a couple as much as i loved lettie and bailey but oakley and lennon are everything to me. the little moments shared between them were just the sweetest. and their banter??? i couldn’t get enough. their personalities really compliment each other so well and they were honestly made for each other!
i cannot wait to read the next book in this series!! and once again thank you so much for giving me the chance to read beat around the bush early! 🤍
I absolutely loved this book. I always vow to keep these reviews spoiler free. The DRAMA had me HOOKED. The tension between these two was so perfect. The spice is just *chef’s kiss*. You can feel the connection between them. I love the Bronson family so much & I cannot wait to see what’s in store in Bell Buckle! 🩵
If you are looking for your next small town romance, this is the one!
🩵 Oakley Rae My dearest! I felt so much comfort from her. There are so many relatable aspects to Oakley that it made it impossible to not get attached to her. I loved seeing her personal growth & putting herself first!
🩵 Lennon Bronson What a man. GOOD LORD. Lennon is such a fierce protector. The mouth on this man had me blushing like a fool. His personal growth was so beautiful to witness.

This is the second book in the Bell Buckle series. I personally had not read book one (Spur Of The Moment) prior to this one and had no issues reading other than it taking me a bit to track which sibling was who ect.
I am an absolute sucker for basically all of the microtropes in this book, “fuck it” moment, a little fender bender meet cute, touch her and I’ll hurt you, the begging😉, and the BACKWARDS BALL-CAP…MORE PLEASE.
I absolutely loved Lennon and Oakley and I will 1000% be going back to read book one AND shamelessly stalking the author waiting for the rest of the Bronson sibling’s books to be announced!
3.5 stars A little icky/cringe at times cause it was such instalove but I liked the dynamic and the family. Fun that it was a bit different from the books in this genre. Looking forward to reading more about this family.
I didn’t think I would like this one more than SOTM and I was wrong! I absolutely loved this book. Lennon is that perfect grumpy cowboy that takes care of his girl. Oakley is that independent woman that finds her home. Their boss/employee relationship gets the perfect amount of spicy. There’s also no third act breakup which was a plus for me! Overall, the book is amazing and the author is incredible!
Oakley is running from her previous life. She is on the road to find an escape when she literally runs into it. (Literally she hits his truck) Oakley finds herself needing a job to supplement her staying in Bell Buckle, the small town she wound up in, so she ends up applying at the local feed store. Who other than the man who she rear ended to be the manager of the store? Lennon Bronson. The grumpy, sexy, cowboy, who only cared that she was safe that night and didn’t even care about his truck. I loved this one so much. The tension, the touch her and die vibes, the suspense aspect, it was just so great!
Tropes: -runaway city girl X grumpy cowboy -he falls first, she falls harder -backwards hat galore -boss X employee
If you know me, you know I love a cowboy book. Lennon Bronson was broody, protective and he knew just how to get Oakleys attention with his backwards hat.
Oakley is “running away” from her hometown of Denver. On her way to the new town of Bell Buckle, she runs into a man’s truck. Surprise, it was Lennon. Lennon has an instant draw to her. And when she interviews for her new job in BB, they both realize that he will be her boss.
I enjoyed the first half or so of this book, but the ending felt a bit rushed and predictable. I still enjoyed overall, but felt myself enjoying the first book more. I feel like Karley is going to bless us with an enemies to lovers next (I hope!!) 😜
Tropes: - age gap - grumpy/ sunshine - boss x employee - forced proximity - flirty tension

This series keeps getting better and better! I was so excited when Spur of the Moment set up this book and the romance between Lennon and Oakley, and it did not disappoint! Karley Brenna did an amazing job with this story and with the suspense element in Beat around the Bush. I could barely put it down! Lennon was so hot and broody in the beginning but once he let his guard down, he was still hot but also sweet and deeply protective of Oakley. Their chemistry and attraction could melt the snow in Idaho and I loved every second of the tension and build up between these two. I also loved Oakley’s growth and self-discovery in Beat around the Bush…her resilience and tenacity made her a lovable and relatable FMC, and I really enjoyed her keeping Lennon on his toes, too. 😂 They had great balance as a couple, and there are SO MANY moments (both sweet AND spicy 😉) in this book that will live rent-free in my mind. I guess you should stop beating around the bush and pick this one up if you want to know for yourself 🤠

I thought this was such a cute easy read. I absolutely loved Lennon and Oakley. After reading spur of the moment, I was excited for the rest of the family and happy it was Lennon next. Plus, I am totally in my cowboy era, and I don’t think that will be changing anytime soon.
Beat around the Bush is the second book in the Bell Buckle Series following Lennon Bronson & Oakley Rae. Oakley is running away from her family drama in Denver and looking for a fresh start. She ends up in Bell Buckle where she rear ends a hot cowboy’s truck with her car. What happens when the next day she goes in for her interview at a feed store and finds out that her boss is the hot cowboy she rear ended. Lennon isn’t looking for a serious relationship, just focused on running his business and helping his family on their ranch. So, what will he do when he can’t stop thinking about his employee since she hit his truck?
If you want a bossy, dirty talking… and wait for it… takes care of his girl. GO READ THIS NOW. Lennon has everything you could want in a cowboy. The things he did for Oak had me melting into a puddle. Their chemistry was amazing. They way they bring out the best in each other. I really enjoyed this. It was a great read, and I can’t wait for more in the Bell Buckle and the Bronson Family.
super fun book, easy and quick read but honestly the writing style just doesn’t do it for me 😭 idk i think i would just prefer a few more descriptions and for the plot to be a little slower bc like they meet once for 20 seconds and then bam he’s in love with her and idkkk it just seemed super rushed and the only kinda ultra detailed descriptive bits were the sex scenes and i feel like you need the rest of the book to be as good if not better than those scenes yk? saying that though i’ll prob read the next books too so i might update this when they’re out!!!
This book has the perfect combination of sweet and spicy! I love a good grumpy/sunshine story and you truly can’t go wrong with a grumpy cowboy.
It was endearing how Lennon was absolutely enamored with Oakley from their very first run in (get it? IYKYK). And when he finds out she’s his new employee.. gimme all the blurred lines!!
I loved how this one had a touch of suspense because when those grumpy cowboys think they may lose their woman.. look out!
Read this if you enjoy: Cowboy Romance Age Gap (8 yrs) Grumpy/Sunshine Boss/Employee A touch of Suspense
Another solid book. Again, I liked both the characters and the relationship. It was easy to read and follow and I feel like this series would be a great pallet cleanser series ☺️
"Beat Around the Bush" by Karley Brenna is a heartwarming tale of love, healing, and finding home in unexpected places. Oakley Rae arrives in Bell Buckle, seeking refuge from her tumultuous family life and the fallout of her parents' divorce. On her first night in town, she collides with Lennon Bronson's truck, setting off a chain of events that will change both of their lives. Lennon, the owner of the Tumbleweed Feed store, is immediately drawn to Oakley when she applies for a cashier position. Despite his reservations about getting involved with an employee, he can't deny the magnetic pull between them.
As they navigate their budding relationship, Oakley discovers a sense of belonging and stability she's never experienced before, while Lennon finds solace and purpose in caring for her. As Oakley begins to let down her guard and embrace the warmth of Bell Buckle and Lennon's affection, she realizes that she doesn't have to face life's challenges alone. Lennon's protective nature and unwavering support give her the courage to envision a future in the quaint town. However, when danger threatens Oakley's safety at the feed store, Lennon must race against time to save her, risking everything to protect the woman he loves.
In conclusion, I gave this book 5 stars because Brenna expertly crafts a narrative filled with tension, passion, and tender moments, capturing the essence of small-town romance and the transformative power of love. I enjoyed getting a glimpse into the life of Bailey and Lettie that we read about in “Spur of the moment”. I loved reading about Brandy and the other Bronson brothers and where they were at in their lives. "Beat Around the Bush" is a captivating story of resilience, forgiveness, and the healing power of love, reminding readers that sometimes, home is not a place, but the people who make us feel truly alive.
"Now get the f*** out of my way so I can take care of my girl."
Oakley ran into Lennon on accident, literally. Not only was getting in an accident now a part of her plan as she entered this new town, but of course, she had to hit her new boss's truck. However, the real question is why would he hire he after she had hit him. Possibly, because he is the nicest man on Earth.
I devoured this book, it was so easy to slip back into Bell Buckle and revisit these lovely characters! In book one, we got a few glimpses of Lennon and while he was clearly hard-working and kind, I never anticipated this man to domineering and have quite the mouth on him. Boy oh boy, was I excited to see this other side of Lennon. He is protective, assertive, and commanding. He is also kind, a care-taker, and dedicated. Oakley was the perfect match for him, sassy and not afraid to challenge him! This book reads so easily, the banter draws you right in, and the spice is fire.
Tropes: age gap romance small town romance workplace romance boss/employee romance cowboy with a filthy mouth backward baseball cap forced proximity damsel in distress
This is book two in an interconnected series but can be read as a stand-alone.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
If you are in the mood for something sweet and spicy with the most adorable characters, look no further! I am infatuated with Bell Buckle and the Bronsons. This story centers around Lennon, the oldest sibling in the Bronson family. He owns the local feed store, and hires the mysterious new girl in town, Oakley. Oakley left home to escape family drama and she wants a fresh start with no help from the people she left behind. You will definitely fall in love with the swoon-worthy, protective MMC and the sweet, independent FMC. Although they don’t exactly get off on the right foot, there is definitely tension and chemistry between Lennon and Oakley from the beginning. And the secondary characters add so much, too! There’s even a little twist. I love Karley’s writing, and can’t wait to see what comes next in this series 🥰 If you love: 🍃Cowboy Romance 🤍Age gap 🍃Grumpy x Sunshine 🤍Small Town 🍃Suspense 🤍Boss x Employee 🍃Protective MMC 🤍Dual POV 🍃Spice Then go grab this one! It’s available on Kindle Unlimited 👏🏼 Thank you so much to the author for a copy of this eARC!
Okay book 2 im the series down ✅ and let me say I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH. So a little background: The Bronsons have a big family right? There’s a total of 5 siblings. Lettie (who’s love story was book one 10/10), Reed, Beckham, Callan and Lennon. Each book is their love story and how they found their person.
This was Lennons book. The oldest of the bunch and I LOVED HIM?!?
This book was giving grumpy x sunshine, workplace romance, small town romance all of it. Did I mention the brothers are all friggen COWBOYS like stop it rn.
I don’t know who I like more. I loved Lettie AND Bailey in book one but LENNON HIT DIFFERENT. The spice in this book was *chefs kiss* there was the perfect amount honestly.
I can’t wait to dive into the next book (Scrape the Barrel) which I’ll be ARC reading since it releases 07.19.24. Who knows maybe Callan will become my new favorite!
If you’re wondering YES I AM HAVING THE GRANDEST OF TIMES READING KARLEYS BOOKS so yall should read them too.
Oakley Rae is taking her life into her own hands by starting her life over . Running away without a plan had never felt so freeing to Oakley, she was going wherever the winds take her . The winds just so happened to take her smack dab in the middle of Bell Buckle, Idaho + right into the life of Lennon Bronson . Lennon is the local grouchy cowboy who can brood with the best of them . Lennon likes his freedom + alone time but when Oakley crashes into his life .. there is nothing that he wouldn’t do for his sunshine .
I mean come on .. Lennon Bronson is such a SWOON !!!! That is one grouchy cowboy until he is with his everlasting sunshine ! Oakley is one stubborn girl but I understand her reservations seeing what she left behind . I loved that this book has the romantic suspense element to it - I mean who doesn’t love a good mystery ! I cannot wait to see what Karley has in store for us next in this perfect little small town .
This is book two in the Bell Buckle Ranch series + it can be read as a complete stand alone .
This book was given to me for honest review by the author .

@authorkarleybrenna is one of the best cowboy writing authors I’ve come across and I know anytime she comes out with a book, I’m going to fall in love. Lennon and Oak were no different 😮💨😮💨 ALSO their meet cute?! So freaking original, and really showed Lennon’s character right off the bat which I loved. He is soo melt worthy, when he’s spicy and has a dirty 👄 but also when he’s sweet and wants to be that caretaker. Oakley is trying to find herself again after running away from her family and their problems. And she finds so much more than expected. This book gives found family, finding a safe space to call home, but also angst and of course the spice 😏
