Tameron dayn Sidian is the only son of the Protector of Fiallyn Mor. All his relatives, and those of the ruling class of this country, have magic.
But he doesn't. How can he be his father's heir without the gifts that would make him worthy? How can he make sure the common people are heard?
Wait, there's more. He finds out he does have one special gift, but it will mean he'll live the rest of his life as a prisoner, with all his partners chosen for him.
What can he do now? Find out how he discovers what he must finally do. And someday he'll know what all his dreams of dragons are about.
I create worlds and the people who live - and sometimes die - in them. I tend to think in the six-book-series-length, and as soon as I can retire from my day job, will write them all. Right now I'm working at a good day job, which pays reasonably well and has a great set of benefits - but it's all that time I have to spend there (not writing) that drives me nuts. That's okay, because there's always lunch hour (at least half of which I spend writing or revising).
I liked this coming of age book. It had a different twist on magic, and how the overal theme of the book went.
The story kept me going and wondering what would happen with all the options given to Tam. I don't give out details about the book, so if you do like magic and the difficulties that can have on society (well the books society) then you would enjoy this book. The book did leave you with a "cliff hanger" though it does still have some unsolved plots and twists for future books...Now waiting on the next book!
I was so excited to read about dragons, but they were not there. The story wasn't bad, just kind of dull. I kept waiting for something to happen, but I was left unsatisfied. Sorry, wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
