Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: love after loss
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Completely fracking unalived. Need the conclusion ASAP 🙈.

So many things to love about this story. Huge family saga with tons of familial drama. Love how confused Cole is by his overwhelming attraction to Savannah. She is the exact opposite of the girl her used to love: wild, reckless, and lives her life with unbridled passion. The writing, storyline, and non-stop action will have you glued to your kindle, but it's that twist you don't see coming that will leave you gasping for air. Haven't been sideswiped like that since Lost Soul.

Pushing Limits is the first book in Cole and Savannah's duet and ends on a cliffy. It is book 5 of the Corrupt Cowboys series and best enjoyed when read in series order. Corrupt Cowboys is in the same world as her Dirty Souls MC and does contain limited cross-over. GREAT series! Do yourself a favor and start from the beginning!

I had to wait a couple of days to write this, I needed to think about how to write this review without spoilers. Book one in Savannah and Cole’s duet, and book five in the Corrupt Cowboy series, it does end on a cliff.

I should not have been surprised, this family has been through a lot since book one, and with each book, a twist knocks me for a loop. The familial drama continues, which drew me into this series to begin with. The non-stop action has me wholly invested in the Carson’s story. I want to say this is the best book yet, but I think Reaching Limits might surprise me as well. I cannot wait until February.

Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

I’m not ok… I just finished Pushing Limits and I'm still shaking… asking Why…? Emma Creed added salt on my already wounded heart, added more anguish and just left me here waiting till February to get a second book in this duet…
I knew from previous Corrupt Cowboys books that Cole's story will be more painful and heartbreaking than Garret’s or Wade’s. Brother who suffered in silence, never thought of finding love after loss. Until Savannah, a stubborn redhead who won’t take no for an answer, banter with him back and forth, pushes him to the limits. Sensual tension and chemistry is palpable from the first time they met, and giving in to mutual attraction was only a matter of time.
The underlying plot of this series, family, friends and enemies, politics and mind games, the mystery to be solved, finding answers to so many questions continues. There is constant action, drama, suspense and angst. And sorrow. That twist… I wasn’t ready…

I've loved Cole for a while. What he's already been through broke my heart. Shavanna is wild and fiesty, and I absolutely her no holds barred attitude.
This series is absolutely amazing, I love all the brothers but this one broke me the most, I've not read something in such a long time that completely blindsided me, the revaluations i would have never guessed in a million years
what this family has been through shows the true strength it takes to hold it together.

If you love a series with all the feels that is still dark and dirty, this series is for you!! It's amazing, and I can't wait to see what's to come.

Couldn’t put this baby down at all that I finished it in one day! ❤️‍🔥 Beyond obsessed with this series! The author really does a great job at making you fall in love with each of the characters and the plot of the story remains so strong even in book 5! Annoyed that I have to wait till February for Cole’s & Savannah’s story to continue… but I have a feeling it’ll be well worth the wait!

Took me nearly half the book to get back into this series and remember everything that’s happened because there’s SO MUCH to remember but once the action started, oh it was juicyyyyy

Cole kinda annoys me. Just admit you like her! It’s quite literally that simple. I really liked Savannah though! She’s sassy and fierce and the perfect addition to this crazy cowboy family

Oh my god!

I knew Cole’s story would pull at the heartstrings. It still didn’t prepare me for everything that happens in this book. I’m still in a state of shock, and struggling for words, while writing this review.

It’s definitely a story you need to read, and experience your self. I can’t get enough of this dark cowboy romance series.

MMC/FMC- Coke and Savannah
POV- 1st person multiple
Genre- Contemporary Romance
Sub Genre- Western
Heat- 🌋🌋🌋☄️ (1🌋=2☄️). They do the things and use the P word.
Series? Y. This is NOT a standalone and won’t make sense unless you read the other books in the series. It ends in a cliffhanger, so be warned.
Safety- surprisingly, yes. Even though it’s got a lot of dark elements, there’s no s. violence or cheating.
Triggers- Graphic Violence, Blood, Language, Explicit Erotic Content, Child Endangerment, Gaslighting.
Tropes- My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, Reluctant Lovers, Lovers in Denial, Uptown/City Girl and Downtown/Country Boy.
Thoughts:
Wow.
My mind is absolutely blown and I’m not sure how to write this review without giving spoilers. What I can say is that even though I figured out some of what was going on, it was only part of the whole and it went in a direction that I never expected. The characters will never be the same again.
This book was raw, gritty, and felt very real. Cole is a very complicated character, and we gain insights into him, but never enough to find him predictable. We learn more about what it means to wear The Brand. And Savannah is alternately naive and mysterious, although I think that little girl has bitten off more than she can chew. They are a good match, but at this point I’m not sure that they can come back from the events of this book.
Unfortunately, that’s as much as I can say without spoilers. I guess this is the review version of #vaguebooking. #vaguebookreviewing? Anyway, I highly recommend this series. It’s unpredictable and fascinating and dark in all the best ways.

“I am not owned by anyone. I don’t need you to come running to my rescue.”

Arriving at the Carson door like a whirl of tumbleweed, Savannah Reynolds was always going to stir things up on the ranch. With her fiery attitude, sexy legs in cowboy boots and kissable lips it was hard not to notice this firecracker in Forks River.

Catching the eye of none other than Cole Carson and pushing his limits, Savannah is roping in a man that has only been captured once before…until that went down a dirt dark track leaving a hole man he is today.

“I don’t know what this is, Red, but I’m warning you that it’s dangerous.”

With the darkness clinging to Cole & Savannah keeping her real reasons for being here close to her chest, will these two ever lower their fences and give themselves the chance to be tied to another again?

“You’re fuckin’ wild, but I don’t wanna fuckin’ tame ya.”

Savannah was definitely a breath of fresh air, after being introduced in previous books I couldn’t wait to see what her story was going to be and woven in with Cole’s too! Cole & Savannah are a perfect match, she is the light to his darkness and together are going to be- eventually a couple to be reckoned with.

The Carson family certainly have some secrets hiding beneath their hats and some fractured relationships will either be growing or be destroyed by hidden weeds. But one thing is for sure, you threaten Carson and so help you god you will be begging for a mercy that will never come…

Maybe his heart will always belong to someone else, but that doesn’t mean mine can’t belong to him.

The tears are real, the anguish is huge and so is the heartache. But 🤐 there will be no spoilers from me; just be prepared to be shocked and sorrowful. Loads of emotions are literally embedded into the heart and soul of this story, both as I described before as well as joyous. There is some fun banter between characters that lightens things, too.

Cole Carson and Savannah Reynolds have this incredible chemistry that Savannah wants to explore further, and Cole wants to ignore as much as possible. Cole is such a wounded man, deeply affected by the losses he’s suffered. So much so that he’s not willing to try any sort of relationship again. Savannah is determined to prove him wrong, and boy, the fireworks between the two are very entertaining.

Running parallel with the romance/non-romance are some other intense issues taking readers back to four years ago and what might have occurred then, as well as the present time with the ongoing situation with Garrett and his campaign for the position of mayor of their town. More than anything, though, are the darkest and most sinister events that completely took me by surprise. I love an unpredictable story, and this truly came out of left field.

We get a sneak peek look at Everleigh and that does nothing except ramp up my desire to know more. Although this is a duet, the ending wasn’t a huge shock, making you want to tear your hair out, so thank you to Ms Creed for a smoother finish. I look forward to reading about Cole and Savannah, as well as the rest of the crew, in the next book.

Overwhelmingly emotional and tragic, but beautiful at the same time, Emma Creed takes us even further into the lives of the Carson boys and their families. Through the first four books, they’ve settled themselves into my heart. I’m completely emotionally invested in this family. We’ve been giving Garrett and Maisie’s story, as well as Wade and Leia’s story, but we’ve been chomping for the story of our poor, broken boy, Cole Carson. And boy, does he deserve his HEA!

When Maisie’s old roommate and friend, the fiery red-head Savannah, comes to town, her strong personality and fierce loyalty gains the attention of those around the ranch. She comes from money, so the question is whether she will be able to handle the ranch life. What she doesn’t see coming, is Cole. He is everything that she shouldn’t want. And she’s everything that he doesn’t want to want…. But they find themselves drawn to each other.

But what happens when secrets come to light, and people aren’t what they seem? Prepare yourself for an incredible page-turner that will break your heart. I audibly gasped several times and considered throwing my kindle, but I couldn’t. I HAD to read more. I HAD to know what happened. And now, I NEED book 2 of their duet. Cole and Savannah are not for the faint of heart, but are WELL worth the read. HIGHLY recommend!

(This isn't much of a review until the second half of it. The first half is genuinely me just complaining, feel free to skip to the second paragraph)

I have been trying to figure out how to put my thoughts into words since I finished this book...and all I have is heart break. This book had me down right sobbing while I was at work SOBBING!!!!! I DID NOT NEED THAT KIND OF HEARTACHE WHILE I WAS AT WORK! My boss came into my office and thought that I got news that someone died, then he realized that it was my book and started laughing at me. Dude quite LITTERALLY left my office, came back with a cookie and said, "I can't give you bereavement for a book character, so here's this for your troubles." Okay...RUDE! I was so entranced in this story that I finished the last half of it in my shift today.

Cole and Savannah are literally PERFECT for each other! The amount of tension and yearning that they have for each other is just GIVING!!! She heals the parts of him that we have seen break through out the entire series, parts that he feels would never be better again. BUT HE KEEPS PUSHING HER AWAY! NO, F**K THOSE RULES AND GO GET YOUR GIRL! I am so upset that Cole did what he did, but I should have seen it coming honestly. The first book with these couples never seems to have a happy ending. EVER!!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

We finally get the tortured brother, Cole's story. At least the first part of it. I was never much for cowboy tropes but this series has me converted. The men of Carson ranch are not afraid to do what needs to be done. Cole has always had his demons. He lost the only woman he truly ever loved. Now Savannah is at the ranch, causing all kinds of feelings.

This story has action and romance. It lulls the reader into a safe sure outcome. Until Emma Creed twists up the plot. Things I did not see coming happen and had me yelling at my book. I was completely blindsided.

I love the characters and the world she developed. Just when you think you know all the dirt about the characters, she unveils even more. The series is best read in order as this book like several before ends on a cliffhanger. We get a quick hint as to what heck will break loose next. I cannot wait!! If you love MCs, give these cowboys a read. I know you will love them. I do!

I don’t know what it is that pulls me into Emma’s books so completely, and has me obsessed waiting for the next book! The writing is phenomenal and always makes me feel like I’m watching a movie as I read. My emotions are always so tied to the characters, I feel like I’m with them and feel what they do!

I have been “patiently” waiting for Cole’s story, knowing his was going to mess me up good! He’s had some pretty dark, life altering things happen. I’m also really curious to get to know Savannah more too. Something’s going on there and I’m intrigued!

The twists in this book absolutely blew me away! I was not prepared to cry out loud in shock, tears rolling down my cheeks, but if you’ve read this series from beginning until this book you’ll understand why. These characters have buried themselves in my soul and every good or bad moment feels personal. Here I am again, “patiently” waiting for the second half of Cole and Savannah’s story. If you haven’t started this series yet, you really should. This series will go down as a favorite for me and live rent free in my head.

Here is the 5th book in ‘The Corrupt Cowboy’ series and is middle brother, Cole’s story and picks up right where youngest brother, Wade’s duet of books left off.

An amazing addition to the series. It really does have everything you could possibly want…….suspense, heartbreak, tragedy, drama and plenty of RED HOT steam which brings out all types of emotions as you read. It’s deliciously dark and dangerous, the writing is fantastic and keeps you gripped throughout.

This does end on a nail biting cliffhanger, this is a duet after all so is to be expected. I await the final instalment to Cole and Savannah’s story with bated breath.

I absolutely love this author’s ability to immerse the reader into the story to the point you forget your reading. You’re just there, a part of the world she has created, watching it all play out. A fabulous read that I highly recommend for which I award a definite 5 stars.

"I'd rather you hate me than love me. It's safer that way, Red."

Pushing Limits by Emma Creed

📚The Blurb:

I’m the quiet one,
The one who everyone assumes is dead inside.
But they're wrong.

If you're dead inside you can’t feel pain…
And pain is what consumes me.
I’ve experienced love.
I’ve suffered from it.
And I’ve lost it.
There's not a chance that I would ever put myself through it again.
Everyone is moving on around me.
Our family is expanding.
Life-changing secrets have been exposed.
And I’ve never felt so isolated.

Savannah Reynolds came into Fork River like a hurricane.
She’s feisty.
She’s irritating.
She has no filter.
But worst of all, she seems intent on finding some good in me.

Her persistence is gonna get her in trouble.
There’s only so much I can take before I bite.
If she isn’t careful, she might regret…

✨The Review:

Pushing Limits is the fifth book in the Corrupt Cowboys series by Emma Creed and the first book of Cole and Savannah's story. After what happened to Cole I was so ready to see him finally get a happily ever after, but this man is so self destructive 😅

This book really goes from 0 to 100 so fast, not just the feelings between Cole and Savannah but everything else that has been going on around them since the start of the series. The spice in this was hot asf (🥵9, 14, 17, 20, 25) the action was intense and the emotions are high. The end few chapters of this book slayed me and that cliffhanger was brutal! I cannot wait for the next book, though I have to wait for it till February 😭

This book was amazing, and also really painful. I cried a lot reading this. Please check the trigger warnings (self harm is a trigger in this duet). It’s hard to review without giving some key twists and plot points away. Just, someone I never trusted, shows their true colors and it’s just resoundingly devastating. Not sure I’m going to forgive the author for some choices her characters made 😂😂😂

Cole is the grumpiest of the brothers. He’s moody and mopey and dealing the numerous loses of Audrey and her death (happens in earlier books in the series). He’s traumatized, doesn’t process emotions well, and is now spiraling and fighting/bantering with Savannah (Maisie’s best friend from LA). Savannah is a semi spoiled rich girk running from some family secrets. The chemistry between the two leads is hot, and a little of the schmink and schmex starts down a very light dominant control power games path. A fairly nice amount of spice to match the actions and secrets in the rest of the book.

This series just keeps getting better and better
I've been waiting for Coles books and the start to his duet did not disappoint.

This is a love after loss story with a firecracker FMC is Savannah and I loved that we really dived deeper into Coles trauma and past. He's scared to love again and scared of bringing her into his world, but she's not backing down. We start to see a softer side to Cole that we haven't since Aubrey and it was beautiful to read. Of all the brothers he's the one that has endured the most and who deserves a bit of happiness. I loved getting to peel back some of his layers in this book

I devoured this book and I'm kinda made that I have to wait until February to see how Cole and Savannahs story unfolds.

The book has everything...angst, story, spice, continuation of other characters stories, heartbreak, and of course insane revelations and plot twists. I mean CHAPTER 27 HAD ME SHOOK

Talk about angst, Savannah and Cole’s story is packed with it. Everything that’s been thrown at this family since book 1, and the hits keep coming. The big bomb dropped in this book had me totally surprised, and I was so not expecting to see a character I was really enjoying get killed. That had tears in my eyes and I was so surprised.
I really loved both Savannah and Cole, but I really wanted to kick him in the balls for how he was treating Savannah. And at the same time I wanted to shack sense into her. I loved her fight and spirit, and how she saw through Cole’s attempt at pushing her away, but there was a point I started feeling really sorry for her and wanted her to tell him to go to hell. I can’t wait to see how things play out in the next book. He’s got a lot of redeeming to do in my opinion. I know he’s still hurting from his past, but he needs to pull his head out of his aŠš and see how good Savannah is for him.

Holy fuck the twists and turns in this book, I actually can’t even begin to explain how shocked I am by what happened in this book!! It was so unexpected I am in complete shock… Dalton 🥺 “We’ve been so preoccupied with all this Harvey and political crap that we didn’t notice the biggest threat right under our fuckin’ noses.”

Each book gets better and better and I’m so invested in Cole and Savannah!!! God I’ve been looking forward to their story!

This is by far the best book of the series so far!! I cannot believe all the revelations and twists!!! Especially with Cora and Teresa!! Teresa is a stone cold bitch and gets exactly what she deserves!!

This seductive series is juicy, intense, steamy and very, very twisty. This is book one of Savannah and Cole’s duet, so yes, a cliffy awaits. I highly recommend you start this series by reading book one, Off Limits and continue in order because the stories and relationships build and are layered throughout. After everything that has happened, I was super excited to see Cole get a shot at happiness and while this book had me dancing on the edge, picking my jaw up off the floor and just plain outright gasping for breath, it simply didn't thrill me because I really don't care for Savannah. Despite that fact there is no denying that I am still good and hooked on this series because this author really has a "Take no prisoners" attitude that has you obsessed and anxiously wondering what will happen next.

OMG this book was phenomenal. I knew this book would be utterly heartbreaking and very powerful and I was not wrong in the slightest. Cole has been through so much and he knows he is a broken man but Savannah is very strong and determined and she keeps pushing him. This story has thrown me with it’s revelations. I was completely caught off guard and was powering through the pages to find out what was going to happen next. The Carson men are made of strong stuff but even they have a heart and drama seems to follow them. Emma Creed always delivers a great read but this is way off the charts good. I hope we don’t have to wait too long for book six because the anticipation is killing me. Five phenomenal stars!!!!!

WOW, so shocking as the many layers of Cole were peeled back for us to see how complex of a man, he had grown into. The events of his life have more than hardened him. He's numb to feelings, until Savannah arrives to help Maisie with the triplets. Their meeting was earth shattering to the soul, but Cole certainly was not going to acknowledge the fact. Savannah did everything to get his attention. There was a major development with Garrett, Cole, and Wade's mother, after they let her move back to the ranch that will leave you flabbergasted. You will be glued to the edge of your chair as the unbelievable events unfold.

This series has been a solid read from book one through this one, nook five. These books follow the brothers Carson and the women they fall for, even though the road is sometimes rocky. This is brother Cole and Savannah's story. After shockingly losing his HS girlfriend, everyone assumed that Cole was dead inside and would never recover. And he doesn't want to, until Savannah. They are attracted to each other, but while Savvanh wants to explore this attraction, Cole resists. The book is well-paced, has compelling characters, full of sizzle, steam, drama, and more. Looking forward to book six Reaching Limits and the conclusion of this duet.

Cole and Savannah have so much chemistry, where she is ready to explore what is happening between them, he just wants to push her away. Cole has been thru so much pain in his life, first the blame he felt for his sister’s death and then the loss of Aubrey, more than once. He is afraid to lose anyone else he cares about. The longer she stays on the ranch, the harder it is for Cole to stay away from her.

Just when you think this family cannot take anymore, there is more bad stuff on the horizon for the Carson family.

This the first half of Cole and Savannah’s story, this should be read after the other brothers’ stories as there is an overarching story. Cannot wait for the second half of this pair.
