There will be no peace, not even for the people of Espar.
The people have suffered long enough under the reign of squabbling princes. Prince Tohmas of Galanth has the perfect supersede the Princes with a King. With the blessing of his Goddess Inac and the strength of the enchanted sword SoulBurner, he will be that King.
While half of Espar pledges allegiance, the other half declares war. Tohmas’ eyes turn to his greatest opposition, the Princedom of Trulin, where Prince Kelland is readying his majestic warhorses for battle. Victory in Trulin will only come with persistence and faith, but Inac’s favor is becoming fickle. Without Inac, SoulBurner is nothing, and Tohmas’ claim to Espar cannot be upheld.
As magic powers collide and dragons take to the skies, Tohmas faces a threat his training and years of experience in war are useless Prince Kelland’s daughter Arnika Trulin.
At a young age, Deborah's rampant imagination kept her up, lending great detail to all the terrible things lurking in the night. In desperation, her mother suggested she invent her own stories to distract her brain. She has been doing that since, channelling her ideas into mainly sword and sorcery-style fantasy novels and shorts.
"Dragon's Voice" landed in the YA self-published world in November 2019. Book 1 of the Weapons of Espar series (Dragon's Talon) came out May 2020, with Book 2 (SoulBurner) due Feb 2021.
In March 2021, Deborah signed on with 4Horsemen Publishing, who have taken on the entire 6 book Son of No Man series. Books 1-3 are now available.
In her other life, Deborah is a veterinarian. She lives in Sooke with her husband of 14+ years, their two sons, and three demanding felines.
This story will make infinitely more sense to the reader if they have read the previous books. Even with that caveat the story is still very good. Tohmas wants to unite Espar and cease the petty battles between princes. That means palace intrigue and politics and the need to be a silver tongue, even if he carries a big sword.
Difficulties lie ahead as Tohmas notes: "The connections between lords and ladies of Espar puzzled him." The point is driven home while he reviews the assembled princes and representatives: "The guests ate and talked about nothing to people they did not care about with false sincerity and a thinly veiled lack of interest over the meal."
But if the silver tongue and parchment promises don't work, there is magic to be defeated just as there is a multitude of enemies to unite or defeat. The magic is well defined, spells that bring the reader into the action as they are detailed. The fighters are the best. It is what they do and what they are trained for. The battles are well described and you will feel like a spectator, almost wondering if you are sitting too close.
If fantasy, adventure, some romance, and sword play fit your reading, read this book!
I didn't think I could love Kit more but gah his sarcastic smart a*sness is the best. He had me laughing so hard in this. Again, I fail to see when reading one book how the next one will beat it, but it does every time. The books get better and better. The storyline is phenomenal, the cast of characters extraordinary. I did miss Darknim in this though. He's a great character, but Kit more than made up for it. I'm in agony though because I want to read book 6 but it will have to wait until I get paid😭. I can't wait to see where this will go and if this is the end.

Lots going on with Tohmas in this one. War, captured princess, treaties, etc. Good clean read (violence) in this one we see a new side to Tohmas. A gentler one. Still being a man of his word. We also start to see a struggle I'm betting will pop up in the next book. His birth country clashing with the country that raised him.
Good series to read should read earlier books first to really understand. Longer reads more of a medium read than easy. Expect days for each book unless you do nothing but read.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. This author’s style of writing once again will catch your attention as the battle heats up. Princes vow to become kings as the turmoil increases. This latest challenge is most understood after having read the previous books, as kingdoms fight for peace. Will they finally come to an end? Be prepared for some epic battle scenes as the warhorses use their talents, and dragons light the sky
War, suspense, action and now the heart. Will the Princes ever stop fighting? Tohmas wants to take control as king of all, but can he do it? How much will it take? Now we have a romance coming in the form of Arnika Trulin. On the ground and in the sky who will win and who will lose? You will love this next battling.

This is the question asked in this installment of the Son of No Man Series. Of course, the Prince we are speaking of is Tohmas. Once again, we have battles and politics and magic and in this one, war horses. The plot moves right along, the writing style pulled me back into the story and the characters are all compelling. Once again, an excellent read!
this was a strong entry in the Son of No Man series, it had what I was looking for from this series. The characters were what I was hoping for and worked in this world. D. Lambert has a great writing style and it worked well in the fantasy genre.
