The Anders Billionaire Brothers #3

Pursuing Desire: An Enemies to Lovers Road Trip

Rate this book
He loves pushing her buttons, and she loves to hate him.

One car.

Three weeks.

A reality TV road trip.

And a fake engagement to uphold. What’s the next logical step when your life is a chaotic mess? Apparently, it’s agreeing to be on a game show alongside the one guy who knows how to push all your buttons. The catch? You’re forced to spend twenty-four hours a day with him for three straight weeks. Did I tell you we have to pretend to be engaged? Talk about a wild road trip!

Dax Anders might be Manhattan's most eligible bachelor, but to me, he is just a playboy on the prowl for his next conquest. If it wasn’t for my financial blunder, I wouldn't find myself stuck in this car for three weeks, trying not to fall under his charismatic charm.

I don’t know what it is about Jess Roberts, but I just can’t resist pushing all her buttons. Sure, she’s beautiful, but she's not exactly what I'd typically go for—or so I keep telling myself. But after three weeks cooped up in a car with her, I can’t get her out of my mind.

What will happen when a reality TV road trip thrusts two people together, and they have to pretend to be engaged? Can they walk away from each other and go back to how life was, or will their lives be forever changed?

Pursuing Desire is the third book in the steamy contemporary romance series The Anders Billionaire Brothers. If you like enemies to lovers, fake engagements, forced proximity, and road trips, then this novel by Erin Darlene is a must-read. Witty banter and a HEA are guaranteed.

Erin Darlene are two best friends, Erin and Dana Darlene, who joined creative forces to write contemporary romance novels. They are located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but are originally from Pensacola, Florida.

When they're not working on books, their weekends are spent teaming up with each other and playing an exciting game of Spades against their husbands (sounds lame, but they know how to have fun!). The girls typically win. :)

I read this in one sitting, literally. I could not put it down. The best Anders brother was certainly saved for last! Sorry Jake and Ethan, but Dax is handsome, charming and funny. There were parts where I actually laughed out loud at the banter between him and Jess. I appreciated that the focus on Dax and Jess and their dynamic, with the game show sprinkled in. When the first real kiss happened, I squealed lol At times I wanted to shout at them to stop being so stubborn and just admit their feelings for each other.

This is a truly great series about billionaire brothers and amazing strong women who go thru it and come out on top. Can’t wait to read the next series by Erin Darlene!

Part of The Anders Billionaire Brothers each read as a standalone with one of the brothers and the one who captures his undivided attention in the best way. Dax sexy as all get out youngest Anders brother billionaire with a playboy reputation, but we learn he has a beautiful heart and all it took was the right girl to bring him to his knees so to speak, she challenges him in every way. Jess is sweet but in between a rock / hard place when a situation forces her to be engaged to none other than her best friend’s brother-in-law for three whole and we are stressing whole weeks boy the shenanigans these two give us add the banter between them you will be laughing out loud. The pull between the two of them is off the charts and the harder they try to keep it fake the more it becomes real but what happens when emotional bonds weren’t on the menu and attachments certainly weren’t suppose to form but fate put things in place and love rears her beautiful head throwing a wrench into the works and you have these two finding happiness in a nontraditional way.

I had the absolute pleasure of reading the entire series by Erin Darlene. And I have to say, Jax is by far my favorite Anders brother. He added a fresh personality full of sarcasm and handsomeness. I absolutely loved how witty, sassy and sarcastic Dax and Jess were with each other. I was happy that Jess made him chase her for a while and was a bit stubborn until her walls came down and those true feelings came out for both of them. The storyline of the game show was such a cool twist, but I mostly loved how this book was more focused solely on Dax and Jess with some moments happening with the side characters.
I can’t wait to see what new series Erin comes up with next! Her writing skills, character development and storylines are always a joy to dive into!

When you think you’ve hit the lowest low, a cross country trip sounds like a great idea. Seems even better with a hottie by your side, too bad he gets on your nerves…or does he? Well a lot can happen when acquaintances are in forced proximity for three weeks on a reality TV road trip pretending to be engaged.

I loved the banter between Jess and Dax and how it blossoms to the next level as the book goes on. These two have some steamy moments together that kept me hooked! What woman doesn’t love a protective man, Dax is it. Leave that dirty ex behind and run.

Excuse me while I run to read the first two books in this series.

This. Was. SO. FUN! My guilty pleasure shows are relationship reality TV, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to read this steamy romance!

I adored the witty banter between Jess and Dax. He knows just how to push her buttons and reactions are priceless. I love a strong and stubborn queen and an annoying but sexily determined ‘playboy’.

Somehow, Erin Darlene fit all of my favorite tropes into one box and packaged it neatly with the perfect ending to tie it all up! My only complaint is that it wasn’t longer! Now that I’m hooked, I’m off to find the first two books about the Anders brothers…

Ahhh this was so good! The forced proximity, fake dating, the everything. Dax and Jess’s relationship was so dang cute and the banter had me smiling while reading. Man oh man how I hated her ex but with the way it ended he got what he deserved and the beautiful couple got what they deserved as well! ❤️❤️

Pursuing Desire By Erin Darlene
Release Date: 28/3/24

Tropes:
One Bed.
Fake Engagement.
Reality TV.
Road Trip.
Enemies to Lovers.
Golden Retriever.
Forced Proximity.

First I would like to thank Erin Darlene for the wonderful chance to read their wonderful book. Dax did not disappoint. But I’m still an Ethan girl 🤭

Pursuing Desire follows Dax and Jess two lovely people who have known each other for a while through Dax’s brothers and Jess’s best friends. It isn’t until Jess finds her self in a situation and Dax wanting to help her that things start to change and feelings start to develop. Dax knows how he feels but it takes Jess a little while to admit but when she does, it is the best news ever for Dax 🫠

The Banter between these two had me laughing, the swoony moments had me smiling like a silly school girl, and the spice OMG 🥵 Dax has the moves and the words.

This was a wonderful road trip of emotion, laughter, love and a lot of stubbornness from both Dax and Jess. Check it out this is Book 3 in The Anders Billionaire Brothers Series.

I’m right smack dab in the middle of trouble—trouble with a capital D and a lowercase ax.

“Fine. I’ll keep my ginormous King Kong dong on my side of the bed. It usually hogs the entire bed, but I’ll have a little talk with it and tell it to respect your space.”

“I was pretty hot and heavy into you until I felt your, ummm . . . manhood up against me. Did you wonder why I left so quickly? It’s because I was embarrassed for you. Must be difficult to go through life with your little deficiency.”

If you listen closely, you’ll hear the sound of my hopes crashing and burning.

Jess and Dax were the reason I stuck with the series. I knew the tension of their snappy back and forth had to finally explode and I wanted to have front row seats to the show.

And yes, they were better than other couples in the series, but they could be so much more if only the authors bother to learn that there existed a whole big world without tacky third act breakups.
The story was developing nicely. Jess and Dax’s witty dialogues and emotional attachment creeping into it and changing the nature of their relationship were keeping me rooting for them hard… and then the TAB came and made a shit show out of it.

There was NO logical reason for them to break it all up and it would be so easy to let them take a leap of faith and then strengthen the trust building between them by having them tackle all the issues together, with the ex boyfriend, media and all that. They could actually grow together, develop some emotional maturity, have some deep, passionate conversations and end the series off on a high note.

Instead, we got that cliche shit with bad communication, cheap heartbreak and disappointing aftertaste it leaves you with. Well, I think that’s enough for me when it comes to Erin Darlene. I really tried, but one series was definitely enough.

Pursuing Desire is the third in The Anders Billionaire Brothers contemporary romance series by author Erin Darlene.

Pursuing Desire did not disappoint. It followed the standard outline of a romance but was not boring because of this; it was read that you can fall into. After the male main character discovers that the female main character is in a problematic situation, he finds a way to help her get out of it. Through a forced proximity experience during their time on a reality TV show (akin to the early 2000’s classic, The Amazing Race) the two go from enemies to lovers.

The one quibble that I have is that the female character was fairly unlikable. However, the male main character completely made up for that. He was confident, strong, and sexy—everything we want from our leading man.

It was cute, light, humorous, and spicy. And let me tell you, there was some serious heat in this one! If you like a bit of smut in your love stories, this book is for you. Highly recommend for all of my fellow romance readers.

* Thank you for providing me an ARC. It is an honor to be a part of the process!

Spice 🌶 🌶

Eric Darlene's book grabbed me so tight I finished it in one go – couldn't look away for a second. Now, I'm all set to dive into the earlier two books about the Anders brothers.

Jess and Dax's story is like a magnet; you just can't pull away. The way they joke around made me crack up, and their sweet moments had me grinning like a fool. Jess is dealing with a busted engagement and a tough spot, but she figures out a way to make it work. Enter Dax, the brother-in-law of her best friend who's always been a pain but now steps up to help. Watching Dax unknowingly fall head over heels first, and Jess trying so hard to keep her distance – until she can't – was pure gold.

I'm all for a story about a tough, stand-your-ground woman and a frustrating yet irresistibly determined playboy.

You can jump straight into this book without reading the others, but trust me, you'll want to check out the whole series.

I would highly recommend this book.

ARC review
4.5⭐⭐⭐⭐.💫

I must admit I was not Dax’s biggest fan on Resisting desire (you should read this book, is also amazing!), but he proved me wrong on his book and I loved it!

Pursuing Desire was a funny lecture that included a reality TV with a road trip, both combined brought the spices 🌶️ moments between the MMC and the FMC.
I loved how Dax fell first and harder without even noticing it, and how Jess was determined to keep her distance, until she didn’t, and it was totally worth it!

I rated this book 4.5 stars because I would have loved to see Anthony struggle a little bit more, no I’m lying, a whole lot more because he deserved it🤭 , but I know the book was not about him. But he was a total as*hole, so I wanted revenge (I mean, what he did to our girl Jess, not nice).

This book can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading the other books in the series, because the Anders brothers are something else!

Thank you to @authorerindarlene
For giving me the chance to read this book, I had a wonderful time, and I will be checking out all future releases as well 🩷

This book was a quick but very fun read!! I really enjoyed the characters of Dax and Jess. Their instant chemestry and bickering had me hooked from page 1. Although I really wish we could've seen the Navy Blue couple get in trouble for messing with the car, and I think we should have seen at least one punch by Dax being thrown at anthony because he deserves it 😉

The idea of a reality show like the amazing race, but for engaged couples, it was really fun to read. If you like any of the above montioned tropes/themes, you should 100% check this book out !

That beach scene🔥🔥
The shower scene 🥵🥵

🌶️ 3/5

I have been excitedly waiting for the last book of The Anders Billionaire Brother series to come out and this book did not disappoint!

The story of Jess and Dax has all the love hate feels that you need. I really enjoyed the added extra of the road trip that gave the story more depth that I just loved.

Dax is such a wonderful character and for me he was the best brother yet. The whole way through the story he had my heart ❤️ he is one of the best type of men out there and I am so glad we got to see his character grow.

Jess is such a strong FMC and you get to see her in the other stories. I really enjoyed reading her part of the story and seeing her grow and move her from her past. I think most of us can relate to Jess in some way and how it’s hard to move forward and trust again.

Jess and Dax were a beautiful couple and the best way to end the series!

Dax & Jess: book 3 of The Anders Billionaire Brothers Series. Interconnected characters, but you can read as a standalone. I started will book 3, but I plan on reading the other 2 now:) Erin Darlene did a great job on these characters and I can’t wait to read the other brothers’ stories. Fake engagement/forced proximity/not quite enemies to lovers. Love the banter between Jess and Dax and how it develops into more. The spice was great too.

Road trip? Yes please! Add in the fun from appearing on a show. Sign me up.
This story is beautifully written, filled with heart, humor, and undeniable chemistry. The character development shines as both leads evolve in believable, emotional ways. The plot is full of tension and warmth, striking a perfect balance between passion and heart. This was my first book from this author. As soon as I read this one, I went and read the first two of the series (oops, I went out of order, but it was okay!).

This is the final installment for the Anders Billionaire Brothers. I can't believe it's over. What an ending. I think Dax might be my favorite brother. A true definition of golden retriver personality.
The twist and turns were great. I definitely have a new most hated character. You will know once you read the book.
Their relationship might be the most compatible in between all the brothers, in my opinion. I loved the witty banter and the competitiveness in them.
I'm just sad that's over.

Jess...my girl....she was the perfect match for Dax....❤️

I honestly loved this a lot more than I anticipated. The stubbornness and banter between Jess and Dax aligns with my own personality and I found myself craving their intimate moments.
I also didn’t know going in that this was the third book in a series, so now I get to run back and figure out which brother I like best.

Dax and Jess. She doesn't want to fall for his charms, and he can't get her off his mind. So a three week car trip shouldn't be a problem then? A fun loving and steamy romance with one bed. Now I need to track down the other books in this series...
