Book Review: Last Chance by E.C. Jacobs

Last Chance is a fast-paced, high-stakes thriller set against the exotic and unpredictable backdrop of Southeast Asia. E.C. Jacobs spins a riveting tale of adventure, danger, and deception as Ian McEdwards—an American business consultant and passionate diver—finds himself caught in a deadly web involving terrorists, covert operatives, and a long-lost treasure.

From the explosive opening—a brutal kidnapping and massacre on a pleasure craft—the novel hurtles forward with nonstop tension. Ian, desperate for work and unaware of the danger he's stepping into, takes on a client with ties to the notorious terrorist group Abu Sayyaf. Before long, the CIA is watching, the bullets are flying, and Ian is neck-deep in a fight not just for a fortune in sunken gold, but for his own survival.

Jacobs masterfully balances the intrigue of international crime with the allure of sunken treasure, creating a thrilling blend of espionage, action, and romance. The chemistry between Ian and the mysterious CIA agent adds emotional depth, while the richly described setting lends authenticity and atmosphere to the pulse-pounding plot.

With sharp dialogue, vivid action scenes, and a protagonist you can root for, Last Chance delivers all the elements of a top-tier thriller. Fans of Clive Cussler, Robert Ludlum, and Matthew Reilly will find themselves right at home with this action-packed adventure.

Verdict:
Last Chance is a gripping, globe-trotting thriller that hooks you from the start and never lets go. Treasure hunters, spy fiction lovers, and adrenaline junkies alike—this one’s for you.
