"SILKEN DREAMS is every romance reader’s fantasy come true... Lisa Bingham knows how to play on our secret wishes, and, in this sensual, delightful, humorous, and tender romance, she holds you captive from first page to last.”—Romantic Times
Lettie Grey is in love with a man who exists only in her thoughts. The highwayman, dark and dangerous, dwells in her most wanton fantasies where he stirs her deepest desires. But when Ethan McGuire, a bank robber and fugitive, arrives in her small town, Lettie realizes the sensual stranger of her imagination is more than just a dream.
On the run from the law and a ruthless band of vigilantes, Ethan seeks shelter in the safety of Lettie’s small attic bedroom, and in the heat of her embrace. But can a man who trusts no one give away his heart in the midst of a fight for his life?
“A can’t-put-it-down cliffhanger of the best sort, a real winner. Bravo, Bingham!”—Rendezvous
“SILKEN DREAMS is a delightful tale with mystery, love, and a most intriguing set of secondary characters. The hero and heroine are flawed but endearing, and the mystery component of the novel is paced well enough to keep the reader guessing.”—Affaire de Coeur
Lisa Bingham was thirteen when she decided she wanted to be a published author, and she reached that goal less than ten years later. Now Lisa is the bestselling author of more than thirty historical and contemporary romantic fiction novels. Lisa has also been a teacher and a professional theatrical and historical reenactment costume designer—she’s considered an expert in those fields. She has been lucky enough to live and study in such exotic locales as Brazil, Mexico, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Currently she lives in rural northern Utah near her husband’s fourth-generation family farm. She is married to her sweetheart of twenty-two years and has three beautiful children, an over-protective dog, a burr-laden cat, and a miniature goat who thinks she’s a puppy.
To mother possums everywhere, I loved this book! Silken Dreams was a delight to read! I was completely hooked until the end! I adored Lettie. Ethan is known as the gentleman bandit but honestly he was a cinnamon roll. I'm glad I picked this book up!
Absolutely loved the story line, the exciting action, drama, lust, daydreams and a young girls first love. I look forward to reading more from The author Lisa Bingham.
I enjoyed the story a lot. But, once again, there were several grammatical errors and character mix up s. This books editing was not as bad as the previous review, but it is still distracting to find so many errors.
This was closer to three and 1/2 stars. I'm a big fan of Lisa Bingham after stumbling on Silken Promises (the sequel) a few months back. While I love her prose and the way she brings the scenes and emotions to life in vivid color, this book dragged in many areas. I think the biggest problem was the physical relationship between Lettie and Ethan. Those scenes were too drawn out and I got bored with pages and pages of indecision between them. After such awesome chemistry in Ms. Bingham's other book with Jacob and Fiona, I expected something different. It was still a good book though and the last hundred pages really had me turning pages.
I laughed again at the Beasley sisters. I can only hope to be that much trouble to my children when I'm old and grey. I plan to have just as much fun, too. But I digress... The guilty party was a big surprise that I didn't see coming and I really liked the way the robbery heists played out. It was also nice to see the background on Jacob and Lettie's relationship. Overall it was a very nice read.
This book is very good. I loved that Ethan really tried hard not to compromise Lettie by rejecting her attempts to get him to make love to her. It showed just how honorable he was. I think it was so much sweeter seeing the tender side of him instead of it just being lustful sex. The moments that come to mind are when he lured her out to the barn and how he told her he would miss her when she had daily duties to attend to. Such simple things but so sweet. I loved the Beasley sister, they totally stole the show I would have liked if they would have had bigger parts in the book.
Sweet story set in the 1800s. I enjoy the protagonists daydreaming trait and her pure innocence. The author Lisa Bingham sure knows how to make you feel and clearly see the story as you read. Lisa Bingham takes the reader on a scandalous mystery journey. Allowing love to develop along the way.
This story reminds me that dreams come true. Maybe not exactly as you dreamed it but pretty darn close :-) Also that no matter how bad a situation might appear with hope, it can get better.
Between two and three stars. I didn't hate it but it was not that great. There were so many long, drawn out descriptors I nearly gave up. Descriptions were true to the time period but there was way too much daydreaming. Highly improbable that Lettie would be able to pull off the things she did with Ethan. I felt it was wrapped up really quickly and included a surprising twist at the end.
I can really tell why I didn’t like it - the writing was good enough, I suppose (!), but all that daydreaming from the heroine and that she started to „protect“ the hero right way, after just not more them one look at him…it didn’t ring real. If it were for the Beasley sisters I wouldn’t even have bother giving a rating.
This was a great book. It stole my heart. I found Ethan to be an endearing leading man and I too fell a little in love with his bad boy with a heart personality. I do wish that Ned had fared better but I hope in the end he gets his own story.
It was a decent story. It moved slow but the characters kept me half way interested. I enjoyed the ending. The story could have be told in about 100 pages
