Don't Know Jack

Rate this book
Special Agent Jack Hamlin is a man who lives by a code. Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity. Three words symbolizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and three words hardwired in Jack’s indelible brain. Jack’s a doer and a risk taker who isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes in the field to bring criminals to justice. That is until his latest assignment brings him face to face with Kate Monroe. One look into her mesmerizing green eyes and Jack has a hard time determining if he’d rather interrogate the beautiful redhead, or take her to bed first. After Kate Monroe’s silent partner cleans out their business account and disappears in the middle of the night, she’s left to pick up the pieces and fend off the vultures circling her front door, including a baking conglomerate determined to buy Kate’s prized, award winning recipe at all cost. When hunky newcomer Jack Hamlin moves into town, Kate’s life becomes even more complicated by a dimpled grin that sends her heart into overdrive. Jack’s too hot for words, but the timing of his appearance drives Kate’s suspicions that he’s there for more than just putting down roots. Danger, white hot romance, and stress baking ensue as Kate is swept into Jack’s dangerous world—and Jack's loyalties and training are put to the test when his cover is blown, and Kate’s life is on the line. With Kate caught in the crossfire, it would seem the masterminds are one step ahead of the game. But when push comes to shove, if they think this special agent is down and out, then they don’t know jack. ***Authors This book contains sexual content and is not appropriate for readers under 18 years of age.

This was a good book. There is romance, with some crime/mystery, and action (*wiggles eyebrows* both kids LOL). Being a baker it can sure get hot in a kitchen but Kate and Jack sure do know how to turn up the heat to scorching! I absolutely loved that it switched between the characters POVs There are twists that I was like AHHH no way!. You may think you know what is happening but you really don't. The twists were good. I can't wait to get more of this series!

Kate Monroe crosses paths with FBI agent Jack Hamlin because the business partner in her bake shop, who cleaned out her bank account and disappeared is also under investigation by Jack for other crimes. And, despite an obvious attraction, Jack has to consider the possibility that Kate is involved in the shady dealings as well. Everyone has secrets--Kate that her business is failing, Jack that he is not just a businessman in town to open a new gallery, and Kate's best friend Prudence that--well, that would be telling. And these secrets lead to twisted conclusions on the part of each of the main characters--a rocky road for romance.

Amy Manneman's characters are interesting and her dialogue is natural and well-written. The small town of Starling comes to life with interesting minor characters and descriptions. The plot heats up more than Kate's kitchen, when more agencies and bad guys are thrown into the mix, and Kate could get burned in more ways than one.

Kate Monroe is the owner of Tasty Treats Bakery and is in danger of losing it after investor Scottie Jensen runs off with money from the business.

Federal Agent Jack Hamlin has gone undercover looking for Scottie and is looking into whether Kate was into the illegal activities that Scottie appeared to be in. What Jack didn't expect was that he would begin falling for Kate while trying to remain working on the case.

As the "baking" heats up between the two, will Jack be able to remain professional on the case and will he discover what side Kate is really on? When it appears that Kate's life is in danger will he be able to come to her rescue and find out what is really going on?

Great book with lots of action - even in the bakery!!

I really liked this book. It is romance with a hint of mystery/crime thrown in. Kate is a likeable character who I engaged with straightaway, her friendship with her best friend Prudence was funny and strong, making them easy and entertaining to read about.

The arrival of Jack on the scene leads the reader into a heartwarming and enticing romance story, but it doesn't stop there, with many interesting twists and turns, the book leads the reader on an exciting, page turning journey.

I really liked this book, and was pleased to see that there will be another to follow. I recommend 'Don't know Jack' and I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series!

This was a good, solid read. It had a few spots where it jumped pov without warning, but as for storyline line, I really liked it.
I
It was a multi pov but could have used more of Jacks.
