***Marriage of Convenience, Insta-love, Steamy Hockey Romance***When Ryker Haynes, team captain and Canadian-born heartthrob, finds out that his visa is about to expire, he knows he only has one Get Married.

I need a green card, and I need it now if I want to keep from getting deported back to Canada and losing my ability to play for the best team in the NHL.

So, when I rescue an up-and-coming party planner from slipping on her heels in the Hawkeyes’ parking lot, I might have just found my new wife.

Juliet is smart, sexy, and has her own reasons for agreeing to my proposal.

It's a foolproof plan... as long as no one's feelings get involved. But what happens when the chemistry we're faking for the crowd turns out to be anything but fake?

And when our lives start feeling more like a rom-com than a business arrangement, can we keep our feelings in check?

Or are we headed for a mess more complicated than any game I ever played?

As an avid reader myself, and a Westcoast girl, I love two things: swoon-worthy pro athlete book boyfriends, and writing stories about them living in the beautiful Northwest where I'm blessed to call home.

I do my best work late at night after I’ve tucked in my three littles, and my hard-working husband.

good story line, poor execution

I've made it through four books in this series and i dont think I can move onto the 5th. Ive read plenty of romance novels on Kindle Unlimited but this book (and the series in general) has the most typos, repeated scenes, and plot holes out of them all. The story is so cute and has so much potential but it really needs a couple extra set of eyes from editors who care about the series and about the world King is building here. Heck, I would volunteer if I was qualified!

That being said, the books are worth the read if you don't mind the errors. Ryker and Juliet are adorable and had great chemistry on page. I would love to reread the books once another round of edits goes into place and if the pacing is fixed (most of the books in this series spend 70% of the book on the first week of the relationship and spend the next 30% skipping around huge time jumps and missing what could be major plot points).

I wish Kenna King the best of luck in her future novels and I hope she revisits these and brings in a new team of editors that wont miss 80% of edits that need to be made!

this book was definitely better than the others. I was this 🤏🏻 close to giving it 4 stars, but then the MMC made such a dumb move. seriously? asking that question while she's falling asleep? two months wasted over something so avoidable

This was my first book by Kenna King and I really enjoyed it!

I don't always like to start at book 4 in a series but I was provided an ALC to check out the audio book and I jumped at it. I love sports romance, hockey, and marriages of conveniences so I was all in.

Ryker is about to get kicked out of America for a Visa snafu, and Juliet needs a loan to help with her brother's long term care. Ryker proposes a quickie marriage that needs to last 2 years for his purposes. He promises she will get the new job she wants as a Hawkeyes event planner and he will also help with the care facility. All she has to do is... marry him, move in, and become his partner.

I really liked how earnest Ryker was. He was honestly so "in" on the marriage it barely felt fake on his end. I also loved how he was just so.. kind. He really as so swoony.

Juliet was such a good sister, a hard worker, and a great match for Ryker. I liked them together so much and I also loved that there was no "no s*x rule" for them. I get so annoyed when fake marriages throw that in there. Haha! Just personal preference. After all, who else can please them when they have to keep everything a secret? Why not each other?

I did have a bit of an issue with the conflict in this one. It really threw me right near the end and I was banging my head against the wall.

I loved the audio book. Tim Paige and Addison Barnes were very complimentary to each other.

3 on the spice scale

I don’t understand why this author is publishing/releasing books when it is obvious she doesn’t have a half-competent editor.
Every book in this series has had ridiculous inconsistencies in details (floors numbers for apartments, time details, heights of characters, locations, etc.) and it’s infuriating. Not to mention that the typos, wrong words, and complete lack of fixing mistakes. Who dropped the ball here? In my opinion, everyone.
There was so much repetition of ideas/dialogue as though the writer wrote it multiple times but forgot to delete the one she liked less.
The story line was fine, but with all the mistakes and holes. It made it infuriating.

Normally I look past the editing mistakes because I get it. However, the plot holes and inconsistencies plus the timeline being so wonky just didn’t work for me.

Things were sped up but then it had only been a week and then suddenly it is two months later…it just hurt the story overall

3.9/5⭐️

Hello sports romance with marriage of convenience!
I enjoyed this book, it was a super quick and easy listen. I was sent the ALC for this and the narrators did an amazing job.

Now I will say that I am not a HUGE fan of Insta love, but I did actually like this one. There were a few moments throughout the book that I felt were rushed, like the ending/epilogue. I wanted just a little bit more detail so I felt a little more satisfied.

But other than that, the characters were great, the MMC was the perfect book boyfriend, who gets all protective over what is “his” aka “my wife” and I was eating that up. The spice was good too 😍

I bumped it down from a 4/5 to a 3.9 just because I wanted a little bit more from that ending.

But overall, if you enjoy Insta love, he falls first books, the audio was great!

This is such a fun and entertaining book! It is the fourth installment in The Hawkeyes Hockey series, but can be read/listened to as a standalone. I definitely recommend the audiobook, narrators Tim Paige and Addison Barnes are amazing! This was a quick listen, and I really enjoyed the characters, plot, humor, and drama. Ryker and Juliet were both so sweet, I was rooting hard for their HEA.

Ok, Buckle up, I have a lot to say...
This has a lot of spoilers
First of all, Kenna know how to use all my favourite tropes into a hockey romance. This one is marriage of convienence and it's *chef kiss* amazing.
But, I didn't truly enjoy it as much as I expected. 😐😐😐
The story felt flat and terribly rushed and it seems to be a problem for all the books in this series.
Also, Kenna, darling, please hire a proofreader please.

The Plot
In this stallment we follow the story of the captain of the Hawkeyes Hockey team, Ryker Haynes, a Canadian who is in the verge of getting deported because his agent fuck up his application. James, the agent, suggests him to marry his partnet of that time, Amelia, who is an influencer very shallow and out of touch with reality. He proposed the idea to her and *shock face* she says no because she see the famous captain instead of just Ryker, the man.
Ok, so now with our FMC. Juliet Di Costa has a party planner thingy with her best friend and want to land a five year contract with the Hawkeyes franchise. This contract can help Juliet to pay for a facility for her autistic brother.
After a game, Juliet and Ryker cross path at the parking lot after Ryker saved Juliet of falling on the ice. The deal is simple: Juliet and Ryker marry each other: Juliet has the contract and pay for Jerrin's housing and Ryker gets his green card and stay in the US.

The Development of the story
I know Kenna's book in this series are fast paced and almost no character development and this book is exactly that. Ryker fells in love inmediatly and for him nothing is fake. Juliet has her doubts, as everyone should. Those doubts come from the fact that her mum married her dad who was a professional athlete who after an injury he became alcoholic and left the family. Ryker is the perfect man as every man in this series so far (which we know is fiction because I can't believe that ALL player of ONE team are this perfect boyfriends/husbands)
Ok, let's talk about the proposal, shall we? Ryker asks Juliet to go to the game on Valentine's day and he proposed after first period in front of everyone. Pushing a yes too much? Probably, but we know that Juliet needs this agreements as much as him. Everything is perfect, everyone is happy. Juliet gets her contract minutes after that, etc.
Ryker asks her to not date anyone during the two years of this fake marriage, but that didn't mean two years without sex
"I didn't say you couldn't have sex," I tell her, taking my eyes off the ring and locking them on hers. "I'd be happy to take care of my wife's needs whenever she wants it."

You know what? I'd say yes inmediatly if my fake husband is offering to satisfy my sexual needs 🤷‍♀️ I mean if we're going to be together two years, I'm gonna take advantage of this.
After the first time they sleep together everyone goes down the rollercoaster. Everything happens so fast that when they accept that for them wasn't fake it make it seem that a years has passed but I'm pretty sure everything happened in a month? I can be wrong tho.
"Does this marriage still feel fake to you?" he asks.
"No," I say. "Nothing about us feels fake anymore."

Oh, I forgot to mention that Amelia, the ex-girlfriend, enters the penthouse when none of our MCs are at home and who finds her? Yes, Juliet. I was expecting for her to throw a fit and leave but Ryker arrives and threated Amelia to get a restriction order if she gets near him of his wife Do you think this is the last time we read about her?
Ha
No.
3rd act is basically Amelia going to immigration with proof that they married because of the green card, Ryker gets a visit from immigration and asked him to leave the country without telling anyone about the K-1 visa situation or they would open a criminal investigation againts them. Ryker agrees and says NOTHING to Juliet but ask her about if she'd go to Canada with him while she was half sleep. She tells him to revisit that conversation after he retires.
In the morning Ryker is gone and Juliet is heartbroken. Some thing happens in between where Ryker helps Juliet's family.
Two months later, Ryker's sister is in Seattle and tells her about the immigration shit. Juliet goes to Vancouver and stays there with him. In the Epilogue, three years passed and they have a six-month-old girl and Ryker got a coach contract on the table for Hawkeyes.
THE FUCKING END.

The Characters
Ryker: As every man in this series, he is the perfect gentleman. He comes from a big family all hockey players. He was drafted in highschool and at 32 he still has 4 years before retirenment. His dad passed away and he's guilty because he wasn't at home more time, so every free time he's in Vancouver with his family and after retirenment he wasnt to live in Canada. He fells fast and hard for Juliet and would do anything for her. After the Amelia incident, Juliet didn't want to sleep on his bed because it reminds her about him with Amelia. What did he do? Buy a new bed...
The woman I want on my bed doesn't feel comfortable in it, so I ordered a brand-new one that neither of us have slept in with other people.

The bar is in hell, people.
He's not shy when it come to Juliet. He's very straightforward but lets her to take the first step, which for me is scary but thanks to tell me you want me but want *me* to take the first step.

Juliet: I like her as out FMC. She's caring and independent but let's Ryker to take care of her. With a father absent who was a professional athlete we see that the relationshio with her mum is strained when she decided to marry Ryker. Her mum does not approve but didn't stop her. Then we have Juliet's brother and I'm so mad that we didn't see any scene of him on the ice with the team as Briggs and Lake promised him, I wanted to see that. She also fell fast. I think because he's a good looking hockey-player but then
A full two years of living as roomates with a man I'm very attracted to. What could possibly go wrong?.

A lot girl, a lot.

Now, this section I call it:
QUICK, AN EDITOR FOR GOD'S SAKE!
Previous books had some typos that I could pass but this one? Just let me give m¿you the ones I cought!
CHAPTER 11
"When we head home, I want Juliet to remember who she married. room with an impatient judge but fuck it. When we head home, I want Juliet to remember who she married."
Yes, it is written like that at least in the Kindle Ilimited one I read.

CHAPTER 19
"I don't won't alarm Juliet" So will you or Do you???? Take a pick lover boy.
There are other that I didn't highlight but I won't re-read this book again. There were a lot of commas misplaces or "" missing and typos too.

Summary
It had potential, it felt flat, I wouldn't read it again unless an editor sees this.
Will I read the next book? Probably, but I'll take a break atm.

This is the fourth book in a series but I started here and was totally fine. I’m not normally big on insta love but this one was so cute I didn’t even mind. It’s a quick listen, the author doesn’t waste any time on any aspects of the plot but again, it didn’t bother me because I was in the mood for something fun, fast and sexy and this delivered. The only place that may have felt a tad rushed for me was the ending but overall this was light, spicy and a really enjoyable listen. I’ve listened to a few books narrated by Tim Paige before and he’s fantastic but Addison Barnes was new to me and she is so good I’ll be seeking out her work again ASAP!

I personally think this is the best book I’ve read in the series so far. However, as with previous installments, the story itself fell a bit flat, had very little conflict, and not enough character development.

So, why the 3-star review? Because this is the first book in this series to truly provide a solid outline, only to forget the details.

Ryker, a Canadian hockey player in the US needs to get his green card ASAP because his visa is about to expire due to a clerical error. Luckily his agent knows someone who works at the immigration office who says he can push his paperwork through so he can get married and get his green card. He just needs a wife. Luckily Juliet lands in his arms so save the day. At least until someone spills the beans on their plan.

This was a cute story. I loved how Juliet and Ryker met and how she had no clue who he was. And I loved how willing Ryker and his teammates were willing to help Juliet's brother. However I also felt like a few things were missing in the story. Things were too rushed at times, but overall the story was still good. I wouldn't have minded if it was a little longer to give more context into things that needed it.

The narration was great. Tim Page and Addison Barnes sound great together and I felt like they really fit their characters well. I'd definitely grab another audio with this duo!

Thank you to the author and Must Love Audio for an advanced copy of this audiobook! Opinions are my own.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You are looking for a quick hockey romance read with some fun plot points you don't see very often.

Less rushed but same amount of predictability. I want to like this series desperately despite its lack of character development, rushed plotlines, and cliche/predictable story. I like these books for exploring common events in life, and the banter is usually good, but dang... between issues with pacing overall and little to no expansion on what matters most, it almost feels like I won't think about the series once I've finished them. I might not seek any additional installments after I've finished the ones already out.

This book was so freaking cute and swoonyyyyy! And was incredibly bingable. A marriage of convenience hockey romance with the two most adorable characters. I loved Ryker and Juliette together so freaking much. Ryker is the captain of the seattle nhl team, and his assistant screwed up his paperwork, and he’s about to be deported back to canada, meanwhile Juliette shoots her shot at becoming the teams exclusive party planner, which would be the biggest account and opportunity her small business has ever seen. When her and Ryker bump into eachother in the stadium parking lot, they strike a deal to help one another. I was kicking my feet giddy over how adorable this story was. The audiobook was recorded in dual narration and was so well done 🙏🏻 highly recommend! It’s a part of a series but is an interconnected standalone, and can be read on its own!

I started this book, then paused. I came back to it but I found it wasn’t as captivating as the previous books in the series. Possibly because the MMC & MFC were both not well introduced in the previous books.

I will keep reading the series but this book is rated the lowest thus far.

*On the Kindle Unlimited edition there is spelling errors/ typos. Its still readable but I wish the series was better edited *

It started off so promising, even though everything happened in the span of a week (crazy stuff). Then of course the MMC had to make a decision for the both of them without telling the FMC why, like Urgh 🙄 in the end they fixed it (yay for strong women!), but it kinda annoyed me how communication is always the issue 🙄🙄

Good read but holy hot mess!

I really like this author and the story line that she has created. Though, I do have some issues and it seems to be a recurring theme. The ending in this of each book in the series seems to always end abruptly. We get a nice build and then boom done. Yes, there is an epilogue but it just seems rushed at in the final chapters.

My biggest pet peeve is whoever edited this book needs to do their job correctly or the author NEEDS to find someone else. The first three books in the series were fine. This book was great with a good build but was awful, in the editing department. It is very frustrating when you have a good book where you can actually feel the emotions that the author is trying to convey only to have it ruined because of a typo or the same paragraph is repeated because the editor wasn't paying attention. Yes, I understand everyone makes mistakes, but if you to be taken seriously these types of errors which could've been corrected in the final proof read can ruin it for the reader and make them not want to read you in the future. I say this because I am in the 4th chapter in Dirty Score the 5th book in the series and it was almost like nobody did a final proof read. It detracts from a good book.

The reason I gave four stars instead of one is because I really do like this author and the way she makes you feel the emotions. If it were based solely on editing she would be in the negative.

Plot - 4/5🌟
Spice - 4/5🌶️

✔️Marriage of Convenience
✔️Hockey Romance
✔️Insta Love

Ryker Haynes, a hotshot NHL captain, needs a green card stat, and Juliet, an up-and-coming party planner, might just be his ticket. Their marriage of convenience quickly turns into something much more as sparks fly and fake chemistry starts feeling way too real.

The insta-love trope is in full swing here, making the story fast-paced and exciting. Ryker and Juliet's relationship evolves from practical to passionate in no time, with plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments along the way. The tension between keeping it professional and catching real feelings is super relatable and adds a nice twist to their story.

What really makes this book pop is how well the hockey world meshes with the romance. King does a great job balancing the action on the ice with the heat off it.
