Jordan Gatewood's life is falling apart. Murder, sex, betrayal, suicide―the women in his world are paying him back for all the terrible things he's done, and they're bringing on the drama in spades. And now with Desi Green bringing Jordan to the attention of the detective investigating his lover's murder, his tenuous grip on control threatens to unravel completely. Desi refuses to let anyone back her into a corner. For years, people have tried to set her back and destroy her, but now, she's ready to take it to anyone who wants to put her down, including Jordan Gatewood. And when a message comes for her in the form of a brutal attack, Desi will have to fight with everything she has before she gets her revenge…in Crazy, Sexy, Revenge by J.D. Mason.
I really love JD Mason's writing. SPOILER ALERT: it's always sad when your favorite character gets killed off. Truthfully, I spent much of the book wishing Lonnie would miraculously reappear. She was so tough and such a fighter! But what do you know? Desi found her voice and took matters into her own hands to fight her own battles. Overall, a great read.
I’m struggling giving this book 3⭐️ and may change my rating after sitting on it. This series dragged on and on. I despised most of the characters. The ending was bad. Nothing was really resolved. There was no justice or consequences for anyone. I honestly could of stopped at book 1.
I really enjoyed this series,Unhappy that it had to end,but every series has to have closure and J.D. Mason ended it great.I definitely would recommend this series,it included everything from drama to suspense.Would Desi finally get the justice she deserve? Does Jordan continue to use the Gatewood name to aid him in his sociopathic ways? What happened to Lonnie? This page turner contains all those answers and more.
This book started out a little slow before it finally picked up the pace. I often found myself trying to recall the characters. The author did have a few flashbacks but it was not enough to give me a full connection with the characters that were in the other 2 books in this series. Overall this book gave me closure to what happened to Lonnie and why. I also had closure to Jordan and Desi.
So I really liked Desi's character, but this hardened woman who was locked up for over 20 years for a crime she didn't commit did not translate to me at all. On the one hand, she went in when she was 18. She was young and naïve and got used and abused in prison. Eventually, she had to be the one doing the using in order to survive, but we never really get into what it was that she became, and it never showed itself throughout any of the three books in the series. The only time you kind of saw it was when Lonnie got out of pocket once and she took a posture of expecting a fight. The only other time was when she was with Jordan trying to get him to confess to killing Lonnie and she just wasn't afraid.
But she was afraid of the Gatewood's the entire series. And even when she wasn't afraid anymore, she still was being used by almost everybody as some type of pawn in their own scheme or to benefit their own end.
Obviously we start with Olivia Gatewood...that bitch! We know what she did sparked off the plot for all three books. Not bout to give a synopsis.
Then Lonnie. Lonnie presented herself as the friend that wanted to help her get "revenge", but Lonnie, being an investigative reporter and photographer, and having blown the lid open on all types of scandals involving important people all over the world, she just liked the chaos that came with the Gatewood's being exposed for who they really were. She said she was doing it for Desi, but secretly saw Desi as weak and forced her into the situations that resulted as details of her arrest and conviction were coming out.
Desi wanted to live under the radar. She only agreed to write the book because Sue, or whatever that lady's name was, convinced her that no one ever heard her side of the story. Desi did want to clear her name, but again, someone else was using her to get what they wanted. Sue wanted to be involved in writing a best seller.
In book 2, after Lonnie basically comes back from the dead (she was supposed to die in book one, but the author said she just couldn't let go of Lonnie yet), she tried to guilt Desi, who now was living lavish off her inheritance, the money from her book getting so much attention, and her show line, into helping her get back at Jordan for what he did to her. Lonnie deserved her revenge, but her involvement with Jordan Gatewood had nothing to do with Desi. She decided to get at him the way she did. Desi didn't even know. So when Lonnie came to Desi for help, she basically told that girl that it was her fault Lonnie almost dies, because she got in bed with Jordan for her. That was fucked up.
Then there's the stupid little twit, June, Jordan's sister. She's been holding a grudge (reasonably) against her mother for what she knew that bitch Olivia had done to her father and Desi all those years ago. She convinced Desi to buy into Anton stock at dirt cheap prices before Gatewood industries bought the company just to spite her mother so that Desi would be a major shareholder in the company. It worked. But again, Desi was being used by someone else.
I liked the characters. They all did their jobs. Even the one's I hated. And the premise was really good. Even though I don't feel like the person Desi was kind of described to be showed through - it was more like prison stunted her growth, which would also make sense - I really liked her and enjoyed this series.

Well now I know what all the hype is about! This series was everything I have come to expect from JD Mason. Nothing is better than having books with characters that grow and a plot that can keep your interest and more twists and turns than a roller coaster! Thank you lady for the incredible ride!
I didn't necessarily like the ending but I liked that everything got wrapped up. Overall I really liked this series, I just wish all my favourite characters had made it to the end.
What a great series! Loved the ending . Still feel Olivia got off too easy. Jordan had a change of heart which was very refreshing. Solomon was every woman's dream guy. Money and can change people on the worst way.
I'm sad that this series has ended. I am also sad that Lonnie was actually dead. I don't think there was a lot of revenge really. There were a lot of attempts at revenge. For sure. Desi was back. Trying to avenge Lonnie's death and get back at Jordan. Jordan's wife Claire was the one that actually pulled the trigger. Claire's character was pitiful and cloying throughout the books. Her killing herself didn't make me feel any particular way. Jordan actually became likeable for me. His sister June not so much. June was never really fleshed out as a character. We do get the picture that she is immature and maybe not so bright. Jordan's mother Olivia never really got what she deserved either. I would have liked to have seen that. All in all though, the series ended in a satisfactory way.

I read the entire Gatewood Family Trilogy, the third and final book is so much better than the second. It's by far the best of the trilogy. The plot thickens, the story is well written and flows, and the characters are complex and almost relatable with the exception of Desi where a lot is a mystery to the reader who is not privy to the unabridged version of Desi's book. The primary characters are Desdemona Green and Jordan Gatewood and a host of secondary characters. Jordan Gatewood's life is falling apart and whose wouldn't because the question is finally being entertained that he is a victim too.
I received this book as part of the goodreads first reads program in exchange for an honest review. And I must say, this is the first book I've read by J.D. Mason which probably explains my initial confusion with the characters. Having some basis for their history and who they are would have been helpful, and in hindsight I should have read the other books in the series first before reading this one. The story was full of drama and spice, leading to a surprise ending.
I didn’t have the benefit of reading the prior two novels in Mason’s Gatewood family triology, but the writing was so smooth that it didn’t seem to matter. I was filled in on the back story as I went along, learning exactly what I needed. That said, it was not what I thought it would be, it was better! I’m wondering if there is a fourth novel in the wings…
NOTE: I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
I really love and appreciate the author's knack of keeping certain characters alive even after their previous deaths. The unfortunate events that plagued the main character made her stronger and fight to be believed and heard. This still continues to be one of my favorite authors.
Time to pay Jordan Gatewood back for all of the things that he has done. This edition in the trilogy gives credence to what happens when a woman is scorned. Wow!!!
