Purified. I want this book to be written all over me.

Hindi literature is worth every ounce of pain and sorrow it induces. Tragedy- a transcending presence; death - the only relief.

Attracts. Allures. Draws in. Leads. Captures. Traps. Deranges. Crumbles. Peels. Burns. Rots. Eats. Destroys.
I never read such a book. Exhaustion. Guilt. Diseases. Maggots.
Bipolar author, multidimensional writing. Reading this book is like walking on red hot iron nails digging in your feet. Irony?- Can't stop.

The man. The woman. The revenge. The suffering. The fatigue. The mind. The pain. The numbness. Boundaries transcended; anyone who reads this comes out as a phoenix.

एक शब्द - अप्रतिम !

स्वदेश दीपक अपने उम्र का अर्द्धशतक लगाने के साथ ही अपने द्वारा रचित नाटक "कोर्ट मार्शल" के कारण सुर्ख़ियों में छाये हुए थे। कैरियर की इस ऊंचाई पर, तबतक 26 साल का शैक्षणिक कार्य भी कर चुके थे, उन्हें मनोरोग ने धर दबोचा। इस बीमारी की वजह से वे सात साल तक लोगों से कटे रहे। तीन असफल आत्महत्या का प्रयास भी किया और तीसरे प्रयास में तो इतने बुरे तरीके से जले कि जले हुए हाथ में कीड़ा तक पड़ गया था।

बीमारी से उबरने के बाद शुभचिंतकों की मदद से फिर से वापसी की और फिर अँधेरे के उन दिनों को लिपिबद्ध करने का निश्चय किया।

ये पुस्तक कोलाज शैली में उन्हीं दिनों का मेमॉयर है। अपनी यादाश्त और उन दिनों उनके साथ रहे लोगों और इलाज़ में जुड़े डॉक्टर्स से जानकारी जुटाकर ये कोलाज तैयार किया।

उनके इन अँधेरे पलों में झांकना सिहरन पैदा कर देता है। कैसे एक मनोरोगी का साथ उसका छाया तक छोड़ देता है। लेकिन इनके एकाध दोस्त साया की तरह इनके साथ रहे।

बकौल डॉ प्रतापशरण , PGI चंडीगढ़ के मनोरोग विशेषज्ञ, इस देश में, समाज में कैंसर को, और तो और, एड्स को भी स्वीकृति मिल चुकी है, लेकिन मनोरोग के रोगी को नहीं।

ये डॉ उस टीम में थे जिन्होंने PGI में स्वदेश दीपक का इलाज़ किया था।


इस रोग से ग्रस्त व्यक्ति कभी पूरी तरह ठीक नहीं होते।

1990 से 97 तक वे दुनिया से कटे रहे। 2003 में उनका ये मेमॉयर प्रकाशित हुआ। 2004 में उन्हें संगीत नाटक अकादमी सम्मान मिला ।

2006 की एक सुबह वे टहलने के लिए निकले और फिर घर नहीं लौटे।

अब तक उनका कुछ पता नहीं चल पाया है।

जब उनकी पत्नी, बेटी और बेटे को ये भान हो गया कि अब वे वापस घर नहीं लौटेंगे तो तीनों ने राहत की गहरी साँस ली कि चलो अब इससे पीछा छूटा।

आकर्षक रहस्यमयी शीर्षक से सजी एक पढ़ने लायक़ किताब कहूँ या यात्रा वृतांत कहूँ या संस्मरिका- कोई दुविधा नहीं स्वीकारते स्वयं लेखक को कि उसकी रची यह कृति मात्र लाखों शब्दों का ज़खीरा, अनुभवों का पुलिन्दा या नई सी कोई किताब नहीं ये पीड़ाओं की महागाथा है- पीड़ा देह से नहीं, पीड़ा मन से- स्वयं से बड़ा कोई शत्रु नहीं, और स्वयं से बड़ा ही कोई अपराधी नहीं।
लेखक बेहद ईमानदार रहा होगा शायद और निश्चय ही इसे लिखना उसके यातना-प्रवास के संस्मरणों का इतिहास में दर्ज़ कराने का एक सफलतम दृष्टिकोण होगा। जो उसके सहृदय मनोचिकित्सक द्वारा दिखाया मुक्ति मार्ग भी हो सकता है।

मंटो की बेबाक़ किस्सागोई के भी कहीं आगे लगी मुझे और यह कोई तुलना नहीं हो सकती- क्योंकि यह किस्सों का सफ़रनामा नहीं- जीवन के एक पड़ाव पर आ ठहरी सफ़ल लेखक की ज़िन्दगी के शून्यकाल की दास्तान है, उस के शब्दों में उस की अपनी त्रासदी की बयानगी है
अगर स्वदेश दीपक कहीं ठीक होते, या फिर यदि आज भी संभावित रूप से लिख सकते, तो और भी किताब लिखते इस के आगे- उस सुबह के आगे, जिस सुबह से वो लापता/गुमशुदा हुए - अज्ञातवास/ वानप्रस्थ को चले गए।

CAUTION DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR KINDLE EDITION OF THIS BOOK.
This refers to the kindle edition of this book. This book has formatting problems and parts of text are gibberish. I have not rated this book as parts of book were unreadable. It is a shame that how publisher can even think of offering such a low quality product on amazon website. I do not know how to get my money back. I was misguided by some of the comments on amazon website. Maybe they refer to HB edition.

This book by Swadesh Deepak, the writer of the play Court Martial (creatively adapted in the Shaurya movie), is a haunting piece of literature. It's a recounting of his six-year journey with mental sickness. One of the bravest Hindi writers, he fought like a warrior but lost many battles in this journey. He lost friends, family, his writing ability, and most importantly, his self-respect. If you have even an iota of understanding of psychological suffering, you'll cry, but if you lack empathy, you might make unworthy remarks. This book won't end even when you're finished with it.

ख़ुद पर हुए अपमान , ख़ुद के द्वारा लोगों पर किए अपमान और उसके बाद उसे समझते हुए अपने शब्दों में उतारना बड़ी बात तो है। मनोरोग एक बड़ा मुद्दा है जिसे समझना और उसके साथ इंसान के अंदर बढ़ते डर और नफ़रत को समझना अलग है। लेकिन इन सभी के साथ रिश्तों और उनके बीच का संवाद भी उतना ही ज़रूरी है।

कहानी के नायक का दर्द में होना कितना काम करता है ये भी समझने वाली बात है शब्द अंत तक ऐठ कर कई घटनाओं में पड़े दिखाई देते है जिनकी गाँठे थोड़ी अजीब सी लगती है। रिश्तों के बीच की बातचीत उदासी के तरफ़ ले जाती है। ये तो सच है ये पूरी खंडित आत्म-संस्मरण कई जगह अपने रिदम से हटती है,कई जगह छोड़ती है पाठक को जिसके अपने कई कारण है।

लेकिन इन सभी के बीच नायक के आसपास के लोग और परिवार के लोग मनोरोगी के कितने साथ होते है या फिर रोगी ख़ुद को अपने आप से आप के कितने क़रीब होता है ये भी समझने वाली चीज़ है किताब में।स्वदेश दीपक के कोर्टमर्शल के कई मंचन हुए उससे जुड़ी घटनाओं को भी किताब में पिरोया गया है।

कई रिश्तों के बीच गीता,सुकान्त और वसंधा अलग ही रिश्ता क़ायम करती हुई लगती है पाठक के साथ। इंसान के बाहर और अंदर दोनों की बात करती है यह संस्मरण।

What a book! Swadesh Deepak is brutally honest about everything in this memoir. He talks about his bipolar disorder, the attempts he made to kill himself and all the sufferings he had to go through because of his illness. It is the honesty in which he shares the details that makes this book very gripping and unique. It's a must-read. So do read.

It's not a review of the book, but of the ebook available on Amazon under Kindle unlimited. This edition has completely distorted the original work.

As can be seen, the displayed cover and the book description aren't the same. But that's a small matter. The bigger problem is formatting and font and mistakes galore which makes the book almost incomprehensible.

I managed to read the book obtained from another source.
The original book is so very much different from this Kindle edition that it's futile to think of this book as another edition. It's simply not the book it says it is.
Pure trash!
Please don't waste your time and money on this edition.
But the original work is a very good and important work.

This is the 1st memoir which i read and I liked the way it is written, though sometimes it is confusing and is not for those who don't know about theatrical personalities and hindi writers. But they will relate with the pain, confusion, wants, helplessness of swadesh. How a man who was once a lion personality due to some accident became nothing this is memoir of swadesh deppak's that phase. How he l8bed that.

This book is a memoir of the 7 years of the suffering and sickness of Swadesh Deepak. The book periodically moves in past, present and his future self at time of writing. The book portrays the struggles of a mentally ill man, who has to overcome all. He talks in detail of his bipolar order, his mayavini over the book. A strong read !!!

प्रसिद्ध हिन्दी लेखक स्वदेश दीपक एक मानसिक बीमार का शिकार हो कर अस्पताल में भर्ती होते हैं ,जहां उन्हें तरह तरह के अनुभव होते हैं। विशेषकर उनको लगता है कि वे मांडू में हैं और उस वक्त की घटनाएं देख रहे हैं जब आज से कई सौ वर्ष पहले मांडू अपने पूरे उरूज पर था।
