Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy Fanfic Potter has fame and fortune and posh clothes and all he wants is a simple life. Draco has a flat and a cat and a steady job and all he wants is a complicated life. Which makes you think this story has something exciting like body-swapping, but it doesn’t. Instead it has Indian takeaway and a blue jumper and people wanting a whole lot of what they can’t have, discovering themselves as they discover each other.
This is a very depressing story for me, although it does have a hopeful ending. Harry suffers clearly from some form of PTSD and I think he needs some professional help. This is very realistic, but not much fun to read about.
To tell the truth this was my first fanfiction from this author. i do understand what he/she was gaining for. but for me there was too much humiliation for Harry. im not saying it's good or bad. im just saying it's not MY THING. it was slightly out of my comfort zone.
Harry is not doing good friend, he’s not doing good. Surprisingly, no one cares about Harry talking to Voldemort like he is there when we all know he died. I guess schizophrenia is not a big deal 🙃
Other than that, this one is has angst and spice in an unsettling way. Draco carved a life for himself from the ruins of the war, he lives a very mundane life but he’s not satisfied. Harry has everything Draco wants, but Draco is everything Harry wants to be.
Things to remember this fic by: Harry can’t get it up and has a kink for degradation. Draco is obsessed with Harry’s clothes.
Tropes: – Draco/Harry fanfiction – Friends to lovers?
This author is very funny and I really enjoy their writing but in this particular story I just feel like there was obviously some very big mental health problems and PTSD happening that wasn’t entirely addressed (or really, at all) which made it a little bit of a letdown for me. Humiliation is also not something that I really enjoy reading or I’m into at all so this wasn’t my cup of tea but Drarry is always a good time.
Set 9 going on 10 years after the war. Draco's had a rough time here: his dad went to Azkaban, all of their assets were taken for reparations, and things got so bad he was actually homeless for a while. He's fought his way back and now works as a cashier in a tiny potions shop.
He's kept track of Harry through the papers over the years, and has the same opinion of Harry that he did in school: he's a fame-whore willing to do anything for publicity.
Harry comes into the potions shop one day, and Draco sees how completely shocked he is to find Draco working there. Draco then sees Harry following him around, and they start a thoroughly dysfunctional relationship.
Told completely from Draco's pov. They're both just so broken. And Draco's initial assumptions about Harry's behavior are frustratingly off the mark.
Things do get better, but it's slow. Definitely not the traditional fluffy Drarry, but well-written for all it was hard to read.
Some Favorite Quotes: Since the advent of Potter onto the celebrity scene, however, the vogue was now to stare aggressively at cameras and scowl.
"I never imagined you liking Muggle food," he said. "It's food," said Draco. "I can't taste the Muggles at all."
Slowly, very slowly, Draco was realizing that this thing with Potter was dangerous.... Potter was Harry Potter and Draco was Draco Malfoy, and Potter wasn't going to keep this up. He wasn't ever going to stay, and Draco knew he couldn't get used to this. He shouldn't get used to this.
If you’re into humiliation kink, you might enjoy this. I do not. In fact, based on at least one key aspect of the story that I won’t spoil, I think Harry needed therapy - and a lot of it. This story will work for some people, but it didn’t work for me,
