They’re about to walk down the aisle, but more than one obstacle is standing in their way…
Rory Clarke didn’t want to get married until she was at least thirty. But then she hired sexy redheaded, chin-dimpled Lucah Blythe as her assistant at Clarke Enterprises and everything changed. She’s finally agreed to set a wedding date and plans are well underway. Rory's definitely starting to see the perks of being engaged and she couldn’t be happier. As long as everything goes her way, of course.
That is until not one, but two huge surprises rock her world, putting everything she’s planned in jeopardy. Her job, the wedding, the future she planned for herself. Lucah is there for her no matter what, but trusting someone else isn’t always easy, even if you love them more than anything.
Her road to the alter is a rough one, but will Rory decide it’s not worth the struggle to get there? Or will she take Lucah’s hand and throw herself into their future together?
Chelsea M. Cameron is a New York Times/USA Today/Internationally Best Selling author from Maine who now lives and works in Boston. She's a red velvet cake enthusiast, obsessive tea drinker, former cheerleader, and world's worst video gamer. When not writing, she enjoys watching infomercials, eating brunch in bed, tweeting, and playing fetch with her cat, Sassenach. She has a degree in journalism from the University of Maine, Orono that she promptly abandoned to write about the people in her own head. More often than not, these people turn out to be just as weird as she is.
I'm very glad I got a chance to read this entire series! I don't think I've smiled so much at the ending of this book and I may or may not have had tears building up in my eyes. All of these characters have had obstacles to overcome, and they did so in a very realistic way that wasn't too cheesy or unreal.
I am intrigued to see if Chloe was able to get her story, yet? I can't seem to find it, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.
I have more books by Cameron waiting in my reading queue, so I'll be excited to dive into the next one soon!
this book was not necessary for the conclusion for this series, an epilogue would have been sufficient. i thought the story dragged and then nearly to the end of the book the best part of the story happened. i gave this 3 stars because i loved Lucah and his posted notes. the epilogue at the end was beautiful but i would have liked to see the lead up to it. i think i would have liked to see Lucah lose his cool exterior for just a second, otherwise this was a good series.
I received this Advance Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review and opinion....
I've been a fan of this series since Book One, Sweet Surrendering. To see Lucah and Rory finally get to their "forever" was a beautifully and funnily written story. Going through the emotions of Rory having to truly "surrender" her control over what and how she sees her life both right now and in the future made me laugh, cry and even get a little irritated with her at times.
She really can be a little bit of a bitch with Lucah when he pushes her out of her comfort zone. But she did recognize it and found her way to apologize even when Lucah would tell her it wasn't necessary. There were so many ups and downs in this book that really through our girl for a loop, some good, some sad and some so shockingly surprising that she just didn't know what to do with herself.
I absolutely loved how much Lucah and Rory love each other and want to be with each other all the time. I mean even to the point where they showered together every morning because, "it was just easier for us to shower together. To conserve water and all that." LOL!! Sometimes those showers could make them late for the office but it was always worth it!
When our H/h face some life changing events it really showed us who they were as people and as a couple. Some of these events alone could cause a couple some problems, but compounding them one on top of the other, could destroy a couple. Not our Lucah and Rory they really are meant to be! Adding on top of this is them planning their wedding and starting the countdown to the big day. I absolutely loved, how they each had surprises for each other and neither one would budge.
What made me love Lucah even more than I already did, was how he LOVED his family. His nieces were the world to him and the fact that he wasn't afraid to lose his "man-card" because he "would be wearing a tiara and be covered in glitter makeup." This made me swoon and melt all over again.
Needless to say by the end of the book when we find out how their HEA pans out, I'm still clamoring for more of Lucah and Rory and I really hope we'll see them again sometime in the future!!
Surrendering to Always is the fourth book in Chelsea M. Cameron's Surrender Saga, so if you haven't read the others in the series, you need to do that first. This story brings readers back to where it all began and continues Rory and Lucah's story as they prepare to get married and solidify their happily ever after.
I loved delving back into Rory's mind. This series (and spinoff serial) has been one of my favorite that Cameron's written. While I have enjoyed getting to read the stories of the supporting characters, I was elated to come full circle and return to the original couple that started it all. The dynamic between Lucah and Rory is everything I remembered it to be. They're playful and fun, but their passion ignites behind closed doors.
Happily ever after doesn't always come easily, and Rory has plenty of obstacles and reservations to get past before she can claim hers. She finds herself examining her priorities and aspects of her future she hadn't previously addressed. Her issues are something every bride-to-be can relate to and it makes her that much more human. Cameron kept the story interesting and incorporated unexpected twists that kept me engaged from start to finish. Readers are going to fall in love with Rory and Lucah all over again, and I loved getting a chance to experience their love story again.
I have been on team Rory & Lucah for what feels like forever. For some reason their first book just resonated with me and I have enjoyed their journey from coworkers to a couple and now to the alter. Of course their journey couldn't have been perfect. What would Rory have to freak out about then? And what reason would Lucah have to distract her with his manly charms? Exactly.
While this is the fourth book in this series, it is only Lucah and Rory's third. Which at first I thought was odd, but I am really glad book three was Sloane's story. It added depth and dimensions to someone who, up until now, was more or less a side character, and made her that much more fun in this installment. And of course we got Marisol's story in the serials. Next it is Chloe's turn. And I have theories ... :-)
Honestly this story was perfect for these two. I pretty much knew what was coming, but that in no way detracted from my enjoyment. I may have giggled more than once, but I admit to nothing. And my husband was asleep and the dogs will keep my secrets.
If you haven't started this series yet, I encourage you to give it a shot. It is fun, flirty, sexy, and sweet.
I am so in love with this series! I have been rooting for Lucah and Rory from the very first book! Surrendering to Always wraps up their story, almost like an extended epilogue. As with the first two books, I was so sorry to say goodbye to these two. But, at the same time, I loved seeing them get their happy ending. Lucah has finally convinced Rory to walk down the aisle and now, they are both excited and looking forward to a future together. However, life is never easy and they are faced with some big bumps in the road. They need to figure out how to balance all of the ups and downs, relying on each other and their love. If anyone can do it, these two can. This book wasn’t quite as well written as books 1 & 2, in my opinion, however, I still loved it. You won’t want to miss the final chapter in Rory and Lucah’s story!
"You look good enough to take fishing" One of my favorite quotes from Lucah.
You need to read the other books in this story to really understand how much getting married freaked out Rory. The other installments had very well written hot erotic sex. This book had none so I was I little disappointed. When I read last years book I tried to envision what would happen to these characters I had grown to love. Unfortunately I predicted it pretty much as it happens. There is an emergency in Rory's family. She ends up with some very stressful events at work. Then she starts feeling bad physically. Of course the reader has it figured out. I was hoping for a happy ending for this couple. I have read all in the series including all of Deep Surrendering which I highly recommend.
