Librarian's note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B009SX8H6O.

Lola Caraway is a nerdy freshman attending her first high school dance. Her long-time best friend, upperclassman James Laird, is there with one of his many girlfriends, popular cheerleader Kelsey Vaughn. James interrupts the over-amorous intentions of Lola's date and Kelsey gets mad when he shares a slow dance with his younger best friend. He decides to combat Kelsey's bossiness with a foray into domination and punishment in an unlocked classroom during the dance. Later, he learns how strong his bond with Lola really is and how highly he regards her opinion.

This is the first short in the Vice & Virtue series, which follows James and Lola as they grow up and discover their true feelings for one another. This short also contains a sample of Vice, Virtue & Video, the first full-length novel in the series.

☆☆☆☆ 4 Best Friend Stars ☆☆☆☆

First Dance by Bianca Giovanni was a short sweet fun story that introduces us to childhood bestfriends, Lola and James as they are in high school. James, is considered to be your hot stud and sex expert. He has the charm and wit to get any women he wants for his young age. Lola, who happens to be three years younger than James accepts her best friend the way he is. Lola and James has this deep friendship and bond. So where will this relationship lead to? Friends to lovers?

Overall First Dance was a enjoyable prequel that sets the groundwork for the first book, Vice, Virtue & Video: Revealed. I look forward to reading this book next as to see where this attraction and friendship between Lola and James takes them

This is the first book in a 4 book series, I found them on smashwords a while back and thought I'd give them a try. First Dance had me cracking up!! The series revolves around James and Lola, they are best friends....this is a friends to lovers series. Lola is nerdy and not very popular. James on the other hand is very popular....especially with the ladies!!

"James has quite the rep at our school—in our whole town—and his penis seems to be worth ten times its weight in gold to the women around here”.

James also talks really sweet, he's a real smooth talker...

“If you like getting spanked and fucked, we can do that again.”

“I gave her a little attitude adjustment, calmed her down. She was spanked and fucked and she shut the fuck up after that,” he says with a cheeky grin.”

Everything that came out of James' mouth had me in stitches I was laughing so hard, he's just so sure of himself. If I to use one word to describe him it would be.....

Bottom line this was a quick, short and FUN read!

I'm revising my review. I'm giving it a 4 star rating instead of a 2 star because I REALLY should have first book in the series "Revealed" before reading this prequel.

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A YOUNG ADULT BOOK!

For a story that features high-school students, this book had James (the lead male) in all kinds of erotic situations with other high-school students, but it also explains why becoming a porn star would be a natural progression for him.

...the whole time I'm reading this, I thinking, "I have one child left in high school, and he's 15. If he ended up doing any of this shit, I'd definitely considering sex-addiction counseling for him!

WAY OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE WITH THIS ONE, yet somehow I can't wait to read the next book in series where the characters are no longer minors!

I read this book after book 1, Captured. Here we go back to when Lola was an awkward teenager, right around the time James rescues her in high school. James made me very angry in this one, and I'm glad I met him in the first book rather than in this one. Although he cares for Lola and protects her, some of his actions pissed me off LOL. Happy I got some of the background on them, but I definitely like the other books in the series better.

I found this short story free on Smashwords, is a good reading about Lola and James. She's a good girl a little bit of a nerd, and he's... a man whore. They've been friends since they were kids, even though he's 3 years older. In this prequel to the Vice and Virtue series, we see how they start to feel something different for each other, but they try to deny it.

I walk past Lola’s locker, and I can’t help but think about the other night on the couch in her basement. I felt this weird surge of happiness that sort of spread out from my chest and into the rest of my body. When I was holding her in my arms on the couch, I couldn’t stop looking at those sexy lips of hers and thinking about what it would feel like to kiss them. I always thought Lola was pretty, but after that night, I saw that she’s more than just pretty; she’s beautiful. Those lips, man! I can’t fuckin’ believe how much I’d like to kiss those perfect lips.

Written in dual POV, this short story is entertaining, with an alpha male in the making and a little bit of hot.

3 pages in and I was hooked! I love Lola's sassy and smart mouth a how she gives it right back to James. And James relationship with her is cute. He treats her like a little sister, teasing and protecting her, but then gives her all the dirty details like shes a guy but is still sweet on her. Its good to read a book where the relationship btwn the characters is light and refreshing with laughs and a little kink instead of steamy angst

I loved this story as it brought me back to the days in school where you hung out with your friends and had crushes...ah the memories. Okay so James is really a male slut but he is fiercly protective of his best friend Lola who is three years younger. It is that friendship that I love and wish that I had while I was in school. This is a short story but I was ecstatic to find out there are more! So if you are looking for a book to bring you back to school but in a good way pick this one up.

You have my attention!
This may not have been what my high school was like, but I still found it a good read. Even in my era there were the hot guys who were kept busy with the girls who gave it up like free lunch. Love the James and Lola friendship and can't wait to see this relationship ripen with age.
Smart girl that Bianca Giovanni. She has snagged me with the free book and peaked my interest in the entire series. Tip of the hat!

I just loved this story. Everything about James and Lola makeshift swoon. I adore how accepting Lola is of James and his extracurricular activities. But at the end of the day-- James always ends up with Lola. I smell so much love in the air it's not even funny. What a great beginning to this series!!

(First book of 4 - 3 short ones and 1 long one)
It's a sweet, sexy short story. Likeable characters, tone of voice is a bit 'young' at times, but since they are in high school... I guess it fits.
Interesting enough to want to read the next books to see how the story evolves!

So cute. So sweet. So very James and Lola. It’s been years since I’ve met them first and they’re still so close to my heart. Le sigh.
