“Don’t overthink it.”

Easy advice. Impossible for Felix Storm.

Flick has always lived inside his own head. Anxiety, worst-case scenarios, rehearsed conversations that never happen. It’s exhausting but it’s safe. Predictable.

Until one Friday night changes everything.

Dragged to after-work drinks, Flick meets Anton, a bartender who feels like danger wrapped in a smile. For the first time, stepping outside his comfort zone doesn’t feel terrifying.

It feels electric.

But Eldoor isn’t safe.

A serial killer known as the Tarot Card Killer is leaving bodies across the city, each marked with a card and a message. And the more Flick tries not to overthink it, the more the signs start pointing closer to home.

Too close.

As paranoia turns into pattern, Flick begins to question everything:

Is someone watching them?
Is Anton who he says he is?
And what if the killer isn’t hunting at random?

To survive, Flick will have to confront the fears he’s spent his life avoiding.

Because this time, overthinking might be the only thing keeping him alive.

Awesome!
I was a little nervous to start, wondering how in depth the m/m romance details would go but soon relaxed. I got to know and understand the characters and their connections. My focus was on who wanted to hurt my friends!

Love it! Felix is so well written. It feels like his anxiety and overthinking were plucked directly from my own brain. Loved the twist at the end, didn't see it coming!

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of Lucas Delrose’s new book Judgement to review

Felix Storm, Flick, is a young corporate man who struggles in social situations and has some skeletons in his past. Antoni Winter, Anton, is also the finest young bartender in Eldoor and has had a troubled past and is trying to turn things around for himself. And when these two combine they become… Captain Planet… just kidding, when they come together, sparks seem to fly and they hit it off quite well. Anton helps Flick come out of his shell more and start living his best life when things start to happen.

A serial killer has been plaguing the town on Eldoor and seems to have set their sights on our two love birds. As they try to find out why the serial killer has them in their sights, we go on a journey to find out what each of them have done in turn to gain the killers attention. We meet a seriously hot cop and his sister, an Aunt in the occult, and Alice. All of whom play an integral part in figuring out what the actual hell is going on.

Lucas Delrose takes us on another fantastic journey through his world. His story telling pulls at your heart strings, and in my case, has you swearing black and blue as the suspense keeps you awake at night. The pacing was spot on and really adds to the emotions he wants you to feel.

The character and world development are top notch, and you feel like you are really getting to know the characters and the people around them, rooting for them to succeed and scared they may fail in their goals. I loved the links to pop culture through out the story and really enjoyed the twist at the end!

I know that this will NOT be the last time Mr Delrose makes me feel ALL the emotions again, and I very much look forward to whatever he has in the works next.

I think it's amazing! I also wrote it, so I have to say that.
I tried to go more darker with this one, and challenge myself with a character who wasn't as perfect.
Kept in the same universe as Cherry on Top, I stuck to the same cute boy dating suspense romance style, but with darker elements and a more complicated MC.
I really wanted to bring attention to people who do have severe anxious and how they over think, and how in some cases their thought path works. But I also wanted to keep it fun, mysterious, spooky, weird and out there.
So if you liked Cherry on Top, or you're in the need of another cute gay boy fix, or you want another book that makes you think wtf did I just read. Give Judgement a shot.

Judgement really could focus a bit more on Anton and how cute / mysterious he is. But the book, I suppose, has to a have a little plot. By the way, the plot is good too as a mystery thriller sprinkled in with an anxiously relatable main character.
