Dylan made a deal to help Cassie Price renovate her new home. But having a mouthwatering Mr. June fixing up her place is more temptation than Cassie can resist. It's been a while since I picked up and read a Harlequin, I should definitely do it more often!
Cassie has purchased a fixer-upper, but is in way over her head with the renovating. Fortunately her friend's fiancé has a mate who can help out, Dylan; a firefighter whose hero complex has seen him into a forced leave of absence.
Dylan is also the proud winner of a 'Last Man Standing' contest between he and his friends. The renowned playboy isn't big on commitment, but it doesn't take long for things to heat up and head into commitment territory between Cassie and Dylan.
B802 June2014 Last Bachelor Standing #3 Dylan Cross, firefighter, is put on a 2month leave after he went into a burning building to save a man. He put other firefighters in peril when they pulled him out and he has a concussion. He flips houses and his friends suggest he help one of their friends with her renovation. Cassie Price bought a fixer-upper and she makes a deal with Dylan to do the renovations. Dylan is not about to follow his two best friends and fall in love. Cassie can not resist the temptation Dylan represents, but will he ever want more? Very good!
This is the 2nd book I read by Nancy Warren. This book's storyline was okay. I liked the hot 🔥 & steamy scenes. I liked Dylan's character. I liked Cassie's character. I liked the ending.
Cassie Price just bought herself a home, a fixer-upper. A good investment according to her parents and her broker. But now she doesn’t know where to start! Her friend Adam is busy with his own home renovation and his upcoming marriage, but he recommends his friend Dylan Cross. Dylan is on suspension for three months after ignoring a direct order from his boss and endangering not only himself, but two other firefighters as well. Sure, he saved a man, but he needed saving in return! He is just too reckless. As a hobby, Dylan buys houses to renovate and sell again, and at the moment he is free to work for Cassie. It is just the house he would have bought himself, and their ideas about what the house needs and what Cassie wants, are very much alike. They work well together, until they suddenly start seeing each other with different eyes, and their relationship is awkward for a while. But when they do become lovers, life is perfect. They certainly burn up the sheets!
Until Cassie finds out that Dylan is not willing to move forward, he just likes the status quo. Cassie wants more from him. And so Dylan has to find out more about himself and his motives, why is he endangering himself, does he want to end up like his father? A dead hero? Or is that why he doesn’t want a relationship, he doesn’t want to leave a grieving widow behind?
Adam and Serena are in trouble though. Adam never got over his scare of almost losing Serena to a serial killer and he has become over protective, having her followed by his coworkers, and adding tracking devices to her car and purse. Serena can’t live with that, she refuses to marry a stalker.
Like the other two books, I really liked this third one. I like Cassie, she is a strong woman, she has a job she loves, and she knows what she wants. She is grateful for Dylan for helping her renovate her home, but she deserves more than he is willing to give. I really liked how the three women in this series became friends, Serena and Cassie already are friends, but they embrace Clare in their midst as well, and I love their conversations about their men. Max, Adam and Dylan are still practicing for Badges on Ice, determined to win the cup this year. And of course they also talk about their relationships. Dylan and Cassie certainly burn up the sheets, a lot more than the previous couples. They fit really well together. And after Dylan rescues a little kitten out of a tree, that kitten becomes a fun secondary character as well.
Nancy, can I have a poster of this Mister June please?
I love Nancy Warren’s writing style, her sense of humor and her wonderful characters. So far, I really like them all, and can’t decide on a favourite. If you want to try her books, you can’t go wrong with this series.
Final Score by Nancy Warren Last Bachelor Standing Book Three Firefighter Dylan Cross has outlasted his two best friends as the last bachelor standing. A contest they started at Adam’s thirty-fifth birthday party. Not long after Adam fell out of the competition and in love with Serena and Max fell soon after with his Alaskan bush pilot, Claire. Not Dylan, Mr. June on the firefighter calendar. Nope, he was going to keep his bachelor state for a long time.
Cassie Price took advice from friends, family and financial advisers and bought a house. The problem is that it’s a fixer upper and she is not Miss Do-It-Yourself Handy Woman. Good thing her friend Serena’s fiance has a friend who can help. Or maybe not such a good thing. Mr. June is definitely a firefighter who is too hot to handle.
What a great series. Three buddies who are so close and have each others backs since kids in a sandbox. Their friendship has survived through the years and now it’s time to grow up. Only Dylan isn’t quite ready for that. Amazing what a beautiful woman and kitten can do. Book one is Adam’s story, Game On and Book Two is Max’s story, Breakaway. **Sexual content http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
I was enjoying it right up until the point when Cassie turned into a crazy jerk, refusing to talk to him after blurting out how she feels about him (while he's talking about his job, no less) and proposing directly after a wedding, refusing to listen to his feelings, cutting him off, starting an argument, then dumping and firing him, all in less than five minutes.
Then later on, when he finally works out how much she means to him and braves her and her parents' ire in person she brushes him off telling him he can't love her, it's just words and not to bother trying to prove anything because it's impossible. So, he didn't follow the secret plot she had written, so she'd rather trash and burn the entire relationship. Mature.
I should also point out that Dylan is apparently the hottest man alive, the desktop wallpaper eye candy of choice worldwide... so I'm sure it's not like women don't throw themselves at him constantly saying they love him, which would explain (along with his commitment issues) why he reacted the way he did. Nice communication and negotiation shown there Cassie. Not.

Final Score (Last Bachelor Standing #3) by Nancy Warren: Dylan, Adam and Max have been good friends since they were only five years old. Now, thirty years later, they are still best buddies and successful in their chosen professions. Adam and Max have found true love, so by the process of elimination, Dylan is the last bachelor standing from their trio.
Liked how Cassie made up her mind that she wanted more and backed it up in action even though it meant breaking off from Dylan. I have Max's story so will hold onto this one for awhile at least.
