Grumpy Cowboy's Nextdoor Neighbor

Rate this book
Intern for the cowboy who crushed my heart 6 years ago? Sure, why not.

When you live next door and are besties with his brothers, pretending not to care becomes a polished art.

Nate Paterson has been in a bad mood for six years – and with good cause.

The Triple Pine Ranch desperately needs his strong hand at the helm, with his daddy passed and his mama fallen ill.

Luckily, Nate's nextdoor neighbor and brothers' best friend, Stella Ward, steps in to help as vet intern living in the ranch cottage.

Yet, Stella has her reasons to hesitate.

Who willingly works for the man who ghosted her six years ago?

Especially when he's as surly as they come.

Nate struggles to maintain professionalism around Stella, constantly drawn to her, trying to rehash the past and explain himself.

But Stella is no longer that seventeen-year-old girl with a head full of dreams about her tall, dark, and handsome cowboy neighbor.

She is focused on her internship, determined to leave the past behind. Or so she thought.

Can Stella move past her feelings of betrayal and let Nate in? Or will rumors and small-town meddling ruin their chance of true love?

Aw shucks! Well, I do declare! This is just too damn hokey for me. It's only 176 pages, but it's literally taken me over a week to get to page 126. I just can't handle the narrative, the characters, the tone. EVERYTHING. Life is just too short. DNF.

Is a sweet clean romance with no cliffhanger.

Stella and Nate were neighbors. Nate's mother held a barn dance and Nate told Stella that he loved her. Nate asked Stella to wait for him. Nate ghosted Stella and it was 6 years before she saw Nate again.

Nate hired Stella to be his Intern Ranch Veterinarian. Will they be able to work together? Will Stella find out why Nate ghosted her? These and other questions will all be answered.

One liners that I loved --- "I think doing it like this is what my daddy would call being the bigger man, Nate. Only I'm not a man...and I'm not that big either."
"The kitchen's no bigger than a mole on a chigger - as my daddy used to say"

I loved "Grumpy Cowboy Next Door and I know you will too.

I received a free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Stella needs to do her vet internship in a ranch or a spread and what better place to do that than The Triple Pine which is close to home. He has been in love with Nate since she was seventeen.
Nate is now the owner of The Triple Pine spread after his father passed away. His mother is suffering from dementia which is quite difficult to accept. He has been in love with Stella since he was twenty.
A lot of issues, insecurities, fear of being hurt again and being rejected, and some others are the themes in this book. This story is easy to read and very entertaining. It is also sweet and emotional.

Stella is fresh from vet school in need of an internship. She's been avoiding the next door neighbor ever since he ghosted her 6 years ago. When her dad helps get her work on Nate's ranch everything snowballs. Nate's family has been keeping a secret. Will Stella be able to forgive him? What do they do about all the secrets and lies? Nate keeps digging himself deeper into trouble. How long before everything is straight?.

2 major problems with this book. 1) A marriage ceremony that should have been quickly/quietly held doesn't occur. 2) too much regional language or local jargon used:example; (chapter 1) the estancia is really short staffed. prudy for pretty , and ironed out those creases. Capture 2 & 3 purdy ( these are well to do, educated people - talking down to each other?)⁰
Chapter 3. Rasmatase and to get a bead on. Chapter 16 when he done come in.Chapter17 lit a shuck back to ranch house. Chapter 27 Comms go down
On the very well done side: introducing early onset dementia and sundowning.

I enjoyed this book by Rosalie Carter. Nate has the weight of the world on his shoulders and most of his friends and neighbors have no idea including the love of his life and vet intern, Stella. A lot has happened since he ghosted her 6 year earlier after they declared their love for each other. We get romance, humor, hard issues, a bully minister and a mean girl trophy second wife. I look forward to another book by this author.

Nate and Stella's story.
Wow! So many ups and downs between these two.
A good read, you gonna finish it up once you start reading; there are so many secrets, just because they think they are doing some good... find out how many secrets there are, and what good they have been doing. Because being heartbroken is not funny and hearing half true either.

Stella Ward has been in love with her rancher neighbor Nate Paterson almost from the start. However, 6 years ago Nate scorned her at a barn dance and she hasn't forgotten, or forgiven him for that. When she comes back from vet school and needs to intern she finds herself on the Paterson ranch and working for the very man she hasn't stopped loving. This was such a wonderful, clean story with great characters and I couldn't put the book down.

sweet 🍬 ❤️ romance story with lots of excitement in the plot

Pastor Hank Rowe is my new favourite character! Parts of this story made me laugh out loud it was so funny but it’s also a sweet clean romance.
Stella has to go be the vet at Nate’s ranch, the Triple Pine.
But he ghosted her 6 years ago after they pledged to be a couple. The writing made me feel as if I was really there. I highly recommend this book.

This was a wonderfully clean second chance romance. Stella has had a crush on Nate her neighbor. They had a moment at a local dance when he ghosted her after. Years later she is interning as a vet on his ranch in order to graduate. Will their close proximity brings them closer together and provide them a second chance at happiness together?.

There were so many things that I loved about this story along with addressing real life issues many families face as parents age. Stella and Nate’s way to their HEA hit some bumps yet they manage to find it with some grace and humility. A truly enjoyable clean romance.

This was a good read. Stella and Nate have been dancing around their feelings for years.

Nate's momma has early onset dementia. Nate is now Stella's boss. MS Lucille is a nasty, vindictive biotch.

A lot happens in a,short amount of time.

Recommended reading.
